I've been looking for a japanese curry place that is similar to the one I've had in Japan and this comes pretty close :) I love going here!!! I got the signature curry plate! It was just amazing. The flavors in the curry, the tenderness of the meat!!!! The only thing was that I expected the egg to be soft boiled, it would just be the cherry on top. We were able to walk around the plaza after putting our name down to kill some time before we got seated, went on Saturday night and waited like 30 mins. There were a lot of full tables inside and a bustling atmosphere. I would def come back here to satisfy that authentic japanese curry craving!

Having gone back a few times, I can confidently say this is the best spot for Japanese curry in the area! I prefer going here than Demiya. Their curry has the right blend of spices/flavors and isn't too thick. Easy to order to-go as well, they even wait until you're almost done eating to prepare it which is so considerate! --UPDATED RATING--TONKATSU CURRY: 5/5 ($16.50)

This Curry Hyuga location is just as good as their original location in Burlingame. The main difference is that, since this location is in a strip mall, there's more parking close to the restaurant. The strip mall is busy, though, so you may still need to park a short distance away, and the wait time may be a bit longer during peak times than in Burlingame. As always, their curry and katsu are a fantastic pair. Their curry has a balanced, layered flavor (thanks to the blend of spices they advertise on the staff shirts) and a beautiful texture that's thick and hearty without feeling too heavy. The katsu (and other fried toppings, like their karaage [fried chicken]) is always fried perfectly, being crispy without being too oily. Plus, their curry plates also include shredded cabbage, fukujinzuke pickles, and a mashed potato salad, each of which has a nice contrast with the curry and helps to balance the meal overall. You can also choose to add spice to whatever meal you get. At the table, they have 5 different spicy pepper powders, and you can add as much as you like to each dish (or bite). I typically like using their pequin pepper ("peh-KEEN," medium spiciness level), which gives enough heat without overwhelming the underlying flavors of the dishes. This location may also be a bit smaller, though they seem to have the same number of tables. Even so, the restaurant doesn't feel too cramped.

I'm a big fan of Curry Hyuga before they got famous from Yelp's 100 list. They started expanding to SF and Cupertino. This was the first time at the Cupertino location and ordered for take out. The location is at a prime spot in the plaza. This was first time getting vegetarian curry and it had few pumpkin, eggplant and bell peppers. The curry was mild yet flavorful. Price wise was $18ish.The food came out in about 10 minutes.

Solid place for Japanese curry! I came on a Friday right around the time it opened and we got lucky to snag one of the last tables available and not have to wait. It's pretty small inside and the restaurant is popular so you can usually expect a wait, but the food comes out fast once you order. Service is pretty quick and the servers are attentive. The tables have call buttons but it was pretty easy to wave a server down when we needed. We ordered two plates of the Signature Katsu Curry, one with pork loin and one with chicken cutlet. They're both delicious but the pork is a tad bit juicier and crispier. The curry itself is sweet and savory, but also flavorful, thick, and dense. The rice was cooked well and it seemed like they don't give much rice, but there's a lot. The shredded cabbage, creamy potato salad, and fukujin pickles are nice sides that help to balance the richness of the curry. They also offer a spice rack on the side of various levels if you want a little kick in your curry. I was stuffed at the end since the portion is so big.

Waited 10ish minutes to be seated once we added ourselves to their waitlist. Once we placed our orders, the food came out quickly. We ordered three orders of Katsu curry, karaage curry and tonkatsu teishoku.Everything was nicely presented and freshly prepared.

Big fan of their Burlingame location. I thought this one would be fantastic as well, and for the most part it is, but upon two separate occasions they served raw chicken karaage. Their chicken karaage tastes great when cooked thoroughly, I wasn't sure why this place has a hard time cooking it consistently. I did not have this problem at their Burlingame location. It's a pretty cramp venue, if you turn your elbow to stretch a bit you might accidentally elbow the kitchen staff from the back-of-house.It's hard to expect anything higher than a 2 star when you've been given raw chicken twice on two separate visits. 2 stars is quite generous in that context.

I'm not really a fan of Japanese curry, but I was just looking for a simple lunch. By noon on Sunday, there was already a long line outside the restaurant. The place is quite small and a bit cramped, but the staff were warm and attentive.I ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry, Beef Hayashi Om-rice, and a side of Corn Potage Soup. The curry here has a strong sour note, which I personally don't enjoy. That aside, the fried chicken in the Chicken Katsu Curry was well done--crispy on the outside and tender inside. However, the beef in the Beef Hayashi was a bit tough, and combined with the sour curry, it wasn't very enjoyable.Surprisingly, my favorite part of the meal was the Corn Potage Soup--it had a light milky aroma with the natural sweetness of corn. Highly recommended!

If you're seeking Japanese curry that is made from scratch this is not your box curry. A good curry spot with well cooked curry! The katsu was delish, there was a bit of a wait but managed well by the staff. We ended up ordering and got our meal in a timely manner. The set meal also came with rice and miso which was pretty good! The spice rack also allowed customized toppings
