I went to the Chocolate & Chalk Art Festival on Sunday 8/20/17 because I won the 10 tixs from Yelp. It was the same day as the rally that turned violent, but I didn't go near that cray cray.I took Bart to Downtown Berkeley then walked 6 blocks to the event, it's a good mile or so.Got my tixs at the Tickets & Chalk Registration and inside was 10 tickets that I could use on whatever was on the Chocolate Menu brochure. They had a bunch of vendors that were offering chocolates and drinks for a certain amount of tickets.I got:Caravaggio Gelateria Italiana Vegan chocolate hazelnut raspberry sorbet - 4 tix and Tcho milk chocolate gelato 3 tixs. It's cheaper to buy them instead of the tickets, but since it was Free for me I picked those. Delicious gelato & sorbet, I've had their stuff before so I know I like them.then I should have just gotten the Snicker Bar at Lucky 7 for 2 tix and the last tix for raffle, but I didn't.I picked Lush Gelato Chocolate Cayenne Gelato for 3 tix - it was way too spicy, but finished it up.There was a bunch of chalk art, I didn't stick around long enough to see every one of them. The special artist's chalk is $10 or BYO. Cash prizes were $150, 100, 50 and runners-up get a $25 gift certificate from Books Inc.I think it'll would have been fun to invite a friend instead of having that much chocolate oh well. Thanks Yelp for the tixs!! If I ever get tickets again I would go again!! More chocolate for me.

I'd give zero stars if I could and this is why. An artist worked very hard on a hand drawn sketch for hours only for the contest judges and marketing team to say harsh things about his creative artwork. If you go to the 2014 artwork album and read comments at the bottom here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.750631488292217.1073741827.218396614849043&type=1This saddens me as a lover of the ARTS.

I stumbled across this street event while going to Saul's for lunch. It's a yearly thing and quite fun. You buy tickets, get a map of the local businesses within walking distance who is participating with their taste of something chocolate. For you chocoholics, mark your calendar for next year. There are tasty baked treats, candy, drinks, and other food items to try (everything with chocolate). The cool thing for the community is it brings people to their businesses that might be there for the first time. What a great idea for new customers. And walking around from place to place, you will come across many levels of artists participating in bringing color to the sidewalks with their chalk art. With the great weather, fun food and art..... not much more is needed for a fun day!It was also great to meet and chat with Nicki at the Yelp booth!

Loved it! A great deal! $20= 20 tickets and lots of great chocolaty choices.Definitely coming back. Lots of great art, I was really impressed with some works that were just plain incredible. they had a Toyota echo with the black stuff on it so that kids could draw on.they also had face painting, clown making balloons, etc. Fun event for kids.I love sweets and am renowned for cavities, with that said I loved everything here. Favorites were the Oreo milkshake and chocolate ice cream. highly recommend it.
