I keep ordering DoorDash from this restaurant because they serve the best Chineses food I've ever had in my life! Even better than I've had in Los Angeles. Incredibly good! I'm addicted.

Spices Noodle House and China Taste are the same restaurant. I was at this address, and the storefront said Spices Noodle House. The interior is the same. The only menu was for Spices Noodle House. So I don't know why there's two listings on Yelp. Maybe it's a virtual brand. Food is good, prices are fair.

Been looking for my go to Chinese spot after 5 years in Alameda & I tried it all. Spices is the closest thing to perfect as you can get for that Chinese food craving. Most dishes were hits and even the more underwhelming offerings were still good. Here are my ratings on what I've ordered.Crispy Eggroll - 10/10 crispy & savory perfectionChicken potsticker (fried) - 9/10 very umamiBBQ pork bun - no rating but skip this oneDry braised green bean - 7/10 good but want more garlic and more sauce.Honey Walnut Shrimp - 10/10 this is a must orderSpicy Chicken Chow Mein - 8/10 good and has a little bit of 5 spice taste. Noodles are a perfect texture.General Tao's Chicken - 7/10 large pieces of chicken and great sweet sauce. They should pack this separately because it was very soggy. Order the sauce on the side and this goes to a 9/10.Hot & Sour - 6/10 I'm a hot and sour connoisseur, this is very forgettable and nothing I will order again.Broccoli Beef - 10/10 just wow - amazing quality and addicting.

Grand opening as of Monday 3/18/2019..Located in the previous Spices 3 location on 12th Street (Spices moved across the street)...same owners but much friendlier service! Yes!Tom, our server was very welcoming, helped us navigate through the simple menu and made recommendations - dim sum offerings, porridge, rice rolls, a few rice plates and Asian dessertsOrdered the following * shrimp dumpling - 4pcs delicious, skin not too thick and filling was generous* pork dumpling - 4 pcs juicy and flavorful* tofu skin stuffed with pork and wood ear - great texture, good amount of filling* sweet and sour pork - standard but coworkers liked ..have to like sweet* honey chicken - similar to honey prawns...deep fried and coated with a sweet mayo sauce - different and good try* fried milk custard - this was upon recommendation and told if we didn't like we wouldn't have to pay - darn, liked! :)Overall 4 stars...3.5 stars for the food and another star for the service. Thanks Tom! Complimentary tea (similar to a Thai tea without milk and sugar) and mango pudding finished off the meal. Would return to try other items...and Tom's friendly service!

If you're looking for a fuller dim-sum menu, then Ming's Tasty is probably the way to go. However, since China Taste has my two faves, har gao and shumai, I didn't mind trying this place out with my coworker. After reading the reviews, I was concerned that we'd be waiting forever for our food, but the sole waitress there was on point when it came to seating us, taking our order and bringing out the food. In addition to the har gao and shumai, we decided to get the wonton noodle soup. Personally, I still think Vien Huong's noodles, wontons and broth are better, but VH really specialized in soup so that's no surprise. All in all, this place is probably 2.5 stars on the Yelp scale - smack dab in the middle of "meh" and "a-ok," but I'm rounding up to a 3 since the waitress was really nice, their food is reasonably priced for a sit-down restaurant, and I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and hoping against all odds that they have other things on the menu that are solid.

We found this place on yelp and are so excited to have come here before everyone else finds out about this place. We ordered a lot: crab Rangoon, egg drop soup, sesame chicken, shumai, dry braised green beans and flat pork rice noodles. The ingredients were very fresh and everything had a good amount of seasoning but was not too salted. Best of all, paid about $45 for all of this - which is more food, same quality, but at a fraction of what this amount of food would have costed at at Shan Dong. Every single dish was great and well seasoned and we have no complaints. The portions were also huge. Our food came out fast, except for the lady's dish, our rice noodles, which they seemed to have forgotten about. I'm pretty sure that's what the boss lady was yelling about in the back. Our only complaint is that they are understaffed. Our food came out fast but there were at least 5 people waiting for to-go orders at one point. So I felt bad for the lone cook who came out to get a drink a couple of times; he was clearly tired and overworked so I hope they hire more workers as they are clearly going to get busy. We will be back!!

Having a good dim sum option close to work is always a bonus so I wanted to love this place... but unfortunately it was just ok. Minus points for slow service. The hostess said it was because their delivery arrived, but they should have given us a heads up because my group of 5 was short on time. Plus they were out of rice rolls , again due to some unforeseen circumstance. The House Chow Mein with hand pulled noodles were great. Loved the chewiness of the noodles and the flavor. The black sesame mochi encrusted with peanuts were also good, though I prefer a tad more filling. Pan fried turnip cake was tasty. All the other dishes were just ok: shui mai, shrimp dumpling, bean curd skin roll, Chinese broccoli, salt and pepper fish, and Singapore chow fun.

Craving Chinese? Look no further, China Taste has recently opened in the empty Spice3 location and the food here is EVERYTHING! Yup, you guessed right! This was another one of my "Chinatown Meetup" events that WOW'd all of us diners. A few weeks ago I passed by China Taste as they had a "Grand Opening" sign on the front of the restaurant. I walked in and discovered the restaurant was empty for a Monday evening. From the time I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted with fantastic customer service! I made a reservation for a group of 25 and gave them my phone number. The day of the event, Ting Ting, a wonderful staff worker from the restaurant, called to confirm my reservation; and the day of the event, I walked into a full restaurant of 25 people. China Taste employees provided stellar and phenomenal service, hence it was a large party so big shout out to the Owner and the lovely Ting Ting. Now, moving on to the menu and food, shall we!? Let's just get this out of the way right now, China Taste not only has delicious meals but the pricing here is so reasonable! We had tons of dishes an only spent $22 per person; 5 stars right there! Once we all got seated, we began to review the menu and noticed they offered a large array of Chinese dishes and dim sum. Because of our large group, we were able to try a different variety of dishes such as the Salt and Pepper Fried Fish, Sesame Chicken, Shrimp Dumpling, chow Mein and Black Bean Spareribs. Everything was delicious and was seasoned and flavored perfectly! We were able to split the check and leave happy. China Taste is a true gem in Chinatown! I did notice that many people would order over the phone and do take-out. Note to self: This is one of those restaurant places that need to deliver you food during those late-night cravings! I am so happy they have opened and are serving delicious meals. This restaurant is guaranteed to satisfy your Chinese cravings although the day and night! I'll definitely be back.

Review #169 - 2019We showed up for dinner around 7:30 PM on Monday, July 8th, and there was no one else in the whole restaurant so we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves until closing. There were a few customers & Doordash people picking up take outs, but no dine ins.I ordered quite a few items to share between the 4 of us & a toddler. The shui mai, shrimp hargow and taro egg rolls were all just ok.The stir fried green beans were actually really crunchy & good so I ordered an extra one to take home for later. The beef chow fun was pretty good as well. The salt & pepper chicken was made differently from what we're used to so we all thought it was fish, but it was still tasty. Both the spicy beef brisket noodle soup and the hot & sour lamb noodle soup were good.Unfortunately, service was pretty lacking even though we were the only customers dining in.The place also appears to be not too clean as I asked for a take out soup container & the waitress brought me a greasy container so I had to ask for a new one.As much as I enjoyed the food, I'm not sure if we'll be coming back.
