China House

Ok, I've been coming here a few years now, and as much as I want more candied walnuts on the honey walnut shrimp, I do believe that China House is now my go-to place for honey walnut shrimp. They aren't too mayo-y like other places, decent size shrimp and good portion. However they ARE pretty pricey especially if you order through door dash. They have a small parking lot outside, you can also park right in front, on the street.

As long-time loyal customers of China House in Pinole, CA, we were deeply disappointed and hurt by the treatment we received from the son of the owner during a recent phone call. My mother placed a large order for pickup, including soup, which usually comes in two containers when we order the larger size. When my mom called to clarify what was included, the son was incredibly rude. Instead of calmly addressing her question, he insulted her, calling her an "idiot" for not knowing what she had ordered.This behavior is completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, the call was on speakerphone, so everyone in the room heard the disrespectful tone and words directed at my mother. It was not only unprofessional but also humiliating for her and upsetting for our entire family.We have always supported this restaurant, but this experience has left us questioning whether we will ever return. Respect and courtesy should be the foundation of any business, especially toward regular customers who have been loyal over the years. I hope the owner addresses this issue and ensures that no other customer is treated so poorly in the future.

I been dinning at China House more than I been eating at Hunan Villa, China Delight and King Valley. I remember when China House was in the shopping center in Pinole Valley. I will confess I did not like the current location off San Pablo Ave. It took over an old sandwich shop. I will say that I have that this location is convenience for me because I could park in the lot or on the side street in front of the restaurant. The inside of China House is big compare to Hunan Villa or the old location in Pinole Valley. Two TVs mounted on the wall to watch news or sports. It surely can be a packed inside during the holiday season. The service is good. I have not gotten bad service while I was eating here or picking up my order. The guy that is behind the counter is nice. As of late when I am eating here for lunch I been having Mixed Vegetable with Chicken. The proportion of my meal isn't bad. It is not too much like Hunan Villa but I am easily full once I finish my lunch.A Five Star Review for China House

The son of the owner is very rude... we've been coming to this restaurant since they were at Pinole Valley. We wont be coming back to this restaurant anymore.

The owners spent several years building this business only for the son to come and ruin it with her lack of customer service. He is rude to all customers. You can tell he doesn't want to be there and treat the customers badly. If you try to ask him a question, he won't answer you or look at you, he will just walk away and say, "I'm busy". I wish his parents could see how horrible he treats the customers. We have been eating here for 30 years but due to the son's rudeness my family and my whole Church will never go back. It's a sad story. Customer like up paid for the sons school, clothing, food and roof over his head growing and he treat the clients like garbage

Super boring, looking restaurant both inside and out. The ambience is nothing amazing at all. However, their food is absolutely delicious and very fairly priced. Every time I come in see a couple of people sitting at a table separating snow peas. Chinese food is so hit and miss, and this place is a hit. Glad it's close to home.

Food was okay but overprice for portion sizes. Waitress was rude. she was mopping the restaurant while we were eating with a strong chemical smell, did not check on us and when taking our order she told me that the food was going to be a while bc all the cooks were eating and when paying she was demanding a tip. I am never planning to go back again.

China House has gone down hill. They have cut back on the portions significantly and told me that the boxes are bigger, when that is NOT true.

I recently ordered from China House in Pinole and was disappointed. We asked for two combination fried rice dishes but got chow mein instead, and the fried chicken was overcooked and stale. The Sichuan beef didn't look or taste like beef, more like mystery meat.To make it worse, the man who took and charged our order was rude despite our politeness. For over $100, I expected better. Between the wrong items, poor quality, and dismissive service, I'd recommend avoiding this place.

New Year's Day 2025, stopped in for lunch with my mom and neighbor after a morning of Vallejo thrifting. The front of the house staff are great, friendly, regular faces who deliver tasty plates. Quick service and cha refills. Reasonable prices still. Steady customers for both online/phone pick up and old-fashioned table service; neat and tidy dining room. Glad to have China House for Chinese cuisine, longstanding business in Pinole.
