Cerrito Dance Arts Center

This is a wonderful, family-friendly dance studio that we have been taking classes from for many years. They offer all types of classes, and the teachers are very good with children. The prices are reasonable and it is easily accessible. We would highly recommend this studio!

The teacher here is really nice. The place is very family oriented and the atmosphere is wonderful. Maryse is the teacher and she is very versed in multiple genres of dance including tap, jazz, ballet and pointe. The studio is located in the back yard of a house but it is quite spacious and has plenty of room to dance.

This studio exposed our kids to so much.....tap, ballet, hip hop, jazz, and lyrical styles. After their experience at Cerrito Dance Arts Center, our son danced with the Samahang Modern dance troupe at UCLA and our daugher danced 4 years with Strictly Funk at UPenn. We and they are so thankful for this caring, creative, patient, and inclusive approach to dance. We've learned that dance is not always about competition.....but about allowing children to learn, grow, and experience dance as an art form that they can adopt as a creative outlet....and as something that can bring balance in their lives.

Maryse has taught dance to both of my daughters as well as tap to my wife. The experience for all of them, and for me, has been fantastic. From their first kindergarten dances of Wind the Bobbin Maryse has been both a great teacher of dance, and a wonderful person in their lives. She helps the kids find their own talents and then encourages them continuously. The facility and teaching style are great for kids who want to dance without the competitive pressure. And the yearly recital is always a great event particularly to see the evolution of the student's skills over the years.

I am 10. Since I was 2 I have been dancing with the main teacher (Marice Young). She has been (in my eyes) the greatest dance teacher in most of El Cerrito!!!!!(and that is coming from me, a 10 year old)

Good teacher, but not very organized. Often late and can seem cold to parents.

My daughters have been dancing at Cerrito for years and we could not ask for a better studio! The girls always have fun at class and I am impressed with their ever-improving technique. Owner and teacher Maryse is a pure joy to be around and really knows her stuff!
