We had the opportunity to do a late afternoon sail on the Matthew Turner. It was outstanding! The crew was great, friendly, knowledgeable and very efficient. Loads of fun to watch them work, and even more fun to pitch in to help raise the main sail. We had a beautiful evening, out into the bay (where the wind from the ocean dropped the air temperature at least 10 degrees), then out around Angel Island. The ship is clean and tidy (why, yes, 'ship-shape'), and while a working sailing ship, easy to get around. The Call of the Sea is a great organization, and the Matthew Turner a wonderful experience.

My wife and I were enchanted by Saturday's Lighted Boat Parade on Call of the Sea's Matthew Turner. The weather was perfect, the boat was magnificent, the light show was beautiful, and the people were the best part. We especially loved the crew work - well done!

My son went to camp at Call of the Sea this summer. I can't say enough good things about the camp. The staff are lovely people. All were very sensitive to what the children needed, during these unusual times, and also thoughtful in terms of being flexible and responsive to the comfort level of us parents. This camp is fantastic. Sailing on a tall, poetic ship and having adventures throughout the bay area, making model ships in the wood working room, playing games, playing soccer... there was plenty of variety in the day, and my son was never bored. As a bonus, yummy lunch and snacks are provided, which was such a treat. All I had to do was feed my son some breakfast, stick a toothbrush in his mouth, and shoo him out the door in the morning!

Took a date here for the moonrise sail. Pretty glad I did!Call of the Sea offers five different public sails: family adventure sails, the sunset sails, moonrise sails, girl scouts "in the wind" sails, and educator outreach sails. Anyway, we really enjoyed out time on the schooner! The trip lasted a couple hours and provided us with some brilliant views of the bay, Sausalito, the golden gate bridge, and the beautiful San Francisco skyline. Also, if you want to help out the crew with various sailing duties, you can. Basically there are photo opportunites throughout the trip! You know what won't last, though? The complimentary wine, refreshments, and light snacks so be sure to grab some early. Better yet, they allow you to bring your own food and drinks on any sail so it would be great to stop by a local market and purchase some items so you can picnic it up on the bay. You definitely want to arrive on time as the boat will set sail with or without you so you really want to leave early. The dock may be a bit difficult to find. Thankfully, if you are really having trouble finding the place, you can call the ship's cell. Parking didn't seem to be a problem. All in all, it was a fun adventure and both of us loved our time on the boat! I recommend you stop by and sign up for the moonrise sail. Just be sure to bring warm clothing. Sadly, I came unprepared and only brought a light jacket haha. Oh well.

We absolutely loved our time on the Matthew Turner. First, the sailboat is really just amazingly beautiful. The crew is very professional and friendly, even though they have a lot of work to do on the sail. Watching crew members climb up all the way to the top while at sea to unfurl the sails was like Cirque de Soleil, really impressive! We were on a public sail, but with about 20 people we know. It took us quite a while to run into everyone because the boat is quite big. We had a great sail on a clear day that couldn't have been more perfect.

Day sail to the Farallon Islands on schooner Seaward. The boat was beautiful, the crew was capable and friendly, and we were fortunate to enjoy great conditions. Lots of wildlife along the way, including whales and sunfish. Great views of the southeast island, and wonderful sail back to the Golden Gate. Good value, particularly considering the proceeds help support their wonderful educational activities. This particular trip lasted about ten hours, around 65 nautical miles, mostly on open waters. A shorter trip inside the bay might be a better choice for someone not sure how much they like boats. But if you dress warmly and aren't prone to mal de mer, this is a wonderful adventure.

SEPT 11, 2021, 3:15pm Sail:Sooo beautiful and healing...incredible sail with great winds all around the Bay...wonderful fog rolling down Sausalito in the sunshine as we set sail in the afternoon. Amazing views of Alcatraz, SF, GG Bridge, Tiburon, Angel Island. Fun watching the young staffers who are clearly so well trained, manage this gorgeous new boat modeled after and olde sailing vessel...hiking up ridiculously high ropes, and communicating in their own language, keeping us safe, not over managing us, letting us be, and answering all questions. Thank you all!! And...I saw a seal pop her nose up as we headed back : )
