This Kaiser cafe serves food worse than a public school cafeteria in a poor district. This must be the unhealthiest food I have ever seen in my life served to Kaiser employees, patients and their families. So very sad. I gave two stars because the lady making my sandwich was kind. This should be zero stars. I ate here because my husband was getting a colonoscopy the day before Thanksgiving so not only was I feeling worried about my husband, the food here just made my day more sad.Today's special was fried chicken wings, onion rings and fries. They might as well call this Wing Stop. The other special today was steak (more like hamburger patties) with rice and salad. Soup of the day was beef and rice.Did they hire the chef from the local prison? Are they trying to make people sick to get more customers for the hospital?Everything is basically cheap. Most sandwiches are 7 dollars and the salmon sandwich is 7.95. Specials are like 9.95 here. To try to be healthy, I asked for a gluten free Atlantic salmon wrapped in lettuce. What I got was a thin frozen salmon patty that tasted like it was processed to taste like ramen. They grilled this frozen fish patty for almost 10 minutes and while I waited for this icicle to melt, I looked for some veggies and the best thing I could find was a beet tomato salad for 5.50 My total for lunch was more than 14 dollars and I got a sour tasting beet tomato salad and a thin piece of processed salmon patty on a bunch of lettuces. The dining area was sad. No decorations, some tables were dirty, and a bunch of depressed looking employees and patient family members holding their cellphones waiting for news.

Very impressed. Will go back to try the burgers even when I'm not sick! Got a delicious BLT grilled for half the price of nearby restaurants. They also have big ready made salads. Got one of those because salad bar wasn't quite fresh, because late in the day. Nice indoor and outdoor seating.

This cafeteria dishes out a mean grilled cheese. If you ask nice, they'll add pickles or tomatoes, if that's your predilection. Who am I kidding. You don't even have to ask nice.

Let's talk about this place real quick. It was early in the morning and my dad and I had an hour to spare while my mother was in surgery. We decided not to leave the hospital just in case her surgery ended early. So we venture downstairs and end up in this cafeteria. They have one chef that makes your food after you order. Since I didn't want to wait, I ordered something that was already cooked: hash browns and sausage patties. What. A. Huge. Mistake. What was left of the hash browns was scooped onto a paper plate. They looked oily and old. And the two patties I ordered looked like they had been sitting in that warmer forever. My dad ended up ordering a croissant sandwich, so the chef started on that. The cashier, who is also in charge of wiping the tables was wiping a few empty tables with a wet rag. So we waited for her to come back over to charge us for our orders. When that was over, we looked for a place to sit. Keep in mind that my plate is a paper plate and the cashier had just wiped the tables... so, of course, I couldn't put my food down. I ended up wiping the tables with one had while I had my food in the other. By this time, my dad's food had just finished cooking. Anyway. Back to the food. The hash browns ended up being oily and hard. And my sausage patties were bland and horrible. My dad seemed to enjoy his sandwich. I didn't try it cause I had lost my appetite by the time he offered me some. Overall, I expected more from Kaiser. A lot more. I guess I just have to keep in mind that this is a hospital cafeteria...

Pretty good options when it comes to lunch. I ordered the chicken tenders and a side of onion rings. You get 3 pieces of chicken when you order the strips and good portion of onion rings. My meal with a bottle of water came to $7

The only place within walking distance from work with healthier options. Not the greatest place to eat but it's not bad either. Service is good, food is okay.

Disclaimer: I'm reviewing the food they serve from their CAFETERIA. Not their medical services. Okay, now that I've gotten that off my chest, let's commence to the reviewing. This place actually churns out some pretty durned good food. I've mosied to this place on several occasions (I work in the area), and have felt good about the food that I've eaten. Why is she saying good things about Kaiser? Are the HMOs paying her off? No I'm not being paid off by the HMOs, because if I were, I would not be working in Richmond, CA, no less, and that's just a goofy question. Back to my review. When you enter the cafeteria (after passing the hospital maze that organized medicine is famous for) which does have it's own sign, so don't worry, you'll find it, you'll see some examples of what the Cafeteria staff has available. Just about all the choices have a vegetable goody included in the price, which isn't all that cheap, but isn't all that expensive either. And get this, there are nutritional information in the cafeteria, so if you've ever felt guilty about not getting your nutrients on, Have No Fear, Kaiser has a visible list of what you should eat, and how much of it to eat. It actually clears up the question of hmmh? What should I plop onto my salad plate? because, there's a list of what and how much of said what should be going into your body machine. I think it's pretty rad myself. The food is actually pretty tasty, proving that tasty and good for you CAN co-exist on the same plate. So, if you're in the area, or just in Kaiser Richmond for a medical appointment, go into the Cafeteria and get full and healthy. What a concept!

This place is over priced to the max. The food is not even that great. It would be great if they had some halal items as well. The service is good but I am don't eat meat and if I order something vegetarian it's hard since they use the same girl for everything. I want to order their veggie patty but I seen them using the same grill for meat as they would for the veggie patty.
