The food is amazing. I had the crab cake Benedict. The crab tasted fresh and bolognese was savory. I also ordered the coconut French toast. This is a must have 5 out of 5. Fresh squeezed orange juice was amazing. The service was quick and to the point. There was a comfortable ambiance with your typical diner/breakfast vibe.

Great homestyle brunch spot in the bougie shopping center of West Berkeley. The service was excellent here; quick and friendly. They refilled our coffee four times (!!), never letting it get below halfway -- really excellent to have a steady supply of coffee flowing. The grilled chicken Cobb salad was fresh and full of flavor -- tons of salty bacon and creamy avocado. The Irish Benedict was BIG and hearty, and the scalloped fried potatoes were really unique with a great mix of textures. This sunny spot has a warm, local feel and is well-worth a weekend brunch visit!

solid brunch restaurant on fourth street!! there's usually a long line during weekends but the food here is always solid and consistent. there are so many options on the menu to choose from depending on the mood that you're feeling. if you're feeling healthy, they have salad options and if you're feeling for something hearty, they have fillings options as well. they don't have TOO many healthy options to choose from but at least they have some! i get their garden salad and add grilled chicken to it. the portion sizes are always generous and satisfying. i usually never get filled from just a salad but i do here! their roasted potatoes are also so delicious and crispy. the ambiance of the place is also pretty nice! i like sitting outside more than the inside but in general a solid brunch place to go to!

Cafe M is a frequented place for brunch because it's one of the classic spots to go to. Is it delicious? Not exactly. But it's comforting and you know what you're getting yourself into. The only noteworthy thing on their menu is usually anything that comes with their potatoes - they do their potatoes very good. Otherwise all other menu items are equal so nothing to particularly recommend! There is often a line on the weekend but historically it goes by fast and the food comes to the table pretty quickly after you order.

Our family had Saturday lunch (12:30 pm) and we got seated right away for a party of 5. The Iced Vanilla Latte was strong and good. The Mimosa used freshly squeezed oranges and it was refreshing. I loved the Huevos Rancheros which had a light kick from the peppers (this was our waiter's favorite). The chicken chorizo scrambler was served on a skillet with crunchy potatoes in the bottom of the skillet. The Wet Breakfast Burrito was another good choice. The Crab Benedict used fresh crab. The vibe is casual and the wait staff was efficient. Best for small groups. 5 - Excellent, above and beyond4- Very Good, I'll return again and again3 - Average, I could come back2- Below Average, I may try them again1 - Needs Improvement

You know the stuffed french toast is good when the waitress goes around the table asking for everyone's orders, and everyone orders the exact same thing. Seriously, it's the best french toast I've ever had. The fruit and cinnamon and syrup and mascarpone all just come together perfectly. It is pretty sweet, so I'd recommend ordering a savory side (like the potatoes) to balance it out. Cafe M is a popular place and does get busy, but I've always walked in and gotten a table within minutes on weekend mornings. The food doesn't take too long to come out either. The area around is super cute and nice to walk around in and explore the stores after your meal. A perfect addition to a weekend morning!

This is a cute cafe on the 4th street; recommend! We were a group of 6 and without a reservation were seated within 15 minutes on a Sunday (nice!)The food was served with a reasonable wait and everyone enjoyed their meals. The service was great except for the wait for paying the bill that I ended up taking care of at the register. The only downside to our experience was that this place didn't have any fans for a hot day which made our group eat quickly to just get out. There are street parkings nearby and also in adjacent streets.

Our waiter Brian was really awesome!! He was not only attentive but he was extremely understating and knowledgeable of the menu!I always love bringing friends here because honestly the food is just so good. For me not to be a breakfast person I specifically come here for their breakfast! They even have fresh squeezed Orange Juice! It's so sweet and tangy I love it. I could go on and on about how much i love this place and everything I have tried here has been good. This time my friend and I split sweet and savory. I got the French toast and she got the crab cake crepe Benedict! So delicious per usual! Every bite yum!The place is always packed out so if you don't have your name on the list ahead of time be ready to wait but let me be the first to tell you It's worth it!

Greta breakfast/brunch place in the cool walking and shopping area in Berkeley's 4th street. Indoor and outdoor seating. Very fast service, both taking the order and the food coming out. High ceilings and a European flair. Eggs Benedict were well prepared with good hollandaise sauce. Great thinly sliced potatoes were a surprise. I was thinking I wanted hash browns, which they don't have, but these were really good. Unique. And I had the Berkeley Hills Scramble in honor of growing up in the Berkeley hills! Quite yummy Italian sausage and again those delish thin potatoes. Sourdough toast to top it off. I like they have the little jam packets like diners do.

Cafe M was one of the best brunch spots I went to in my 4+ years attending the University of California, Berkeley for graduate studies. It was not too far from campus nor where I lived, making it a good pick for me and my peer(s) who lived closer to campus.Huevos rancheros was one of the dishes I came to routinely order when living in the area. At Cafe M the eggs were well done and flavorful, toppings were plentiful each of green salsa, Pico de Gallo, cheese, and tortilla(s) atop a bed of black beans. One of the best executions of that dish I have tasted thus far (writing this a few years later on Thursday 31 October 2024).
