I first enjoyed Cafe Colucci in the mid-2000's when they were at a different location. I remembered we had a party of 11 and it cost us $11 per person after all was said and done. This was my first time trying Ethiopian food, so I didn't know what to expect. The server then and now (2025) were very knowledgeable about the menu and were able to make recommendations for every palate. I love that the business has grown and is at a much larger location now. They even sell ingredients and spices for customers to bring home. I'm vegan and my bf eat everything. It's awesome we can both come here and enjoy what they have to offer while satisfying our cravings for the ingredients we prefer. Every time I come here, I order the vegan sampler and it's plenty to eat! Be sure to buy some Berbere and Mitmita seasoning for home use!

This place is poppin on a Tuesday night. There's street parking around but it's not much, although the place is worth it.The ambiance is very nice with dim lighting and red and yellow lights to set the mood. It is packed with people and a small wait time for a table of 3 on a Tuesday night which gave us great hope for how good everything was going to be.We had some questions about the drink menu and our waiter was kind enough to offer us a small sample and basically sold us on a bottle. Their house made honey wine was delicious and compliments our meal. We got half vegan half beef sambussas, both delicious. We also got 1 meat and 1 vegan platter. They came out together along with the traditional Injera. It's extra cost for the traditional injera but I personally think it's worth it.Everything was delicious and packed with flavor. I am a meat eater and rarely do I eat my veggies, but surprisingly really enjoyed their vegan platter. There was chicken, lamb and beef on the meat side. The beef was my favorite with the lamb in a very close 2nd. I also normally don't enjoy lamb as much because of the hint of game-y flavor, but I could barely tell it was lamb. It was marinated so well that the game-y flavor was all gone. One of my favorite Ethiopian places with the best Selassie. Come check them out.

There's several Ethiopian restaurants in the Bay Area, even just in the Oakland/Emeryville area. A couple of my friends recommended Cafe Colucci. This is their favorite. The actual area isn't great. It's a bit sketchy looking. Usually you can easily find street parking. The inside is very warm and inviting. You can smell the spices in the air. During the summer they have the patio open. Service was great. They were very patient with us waiting for the rest of our party. We ended up ordering some of the potato chips and vegetarian and shrimp tibs with injera. The chips were addicting! The tibs were very tasty. I see why this is a local favorite. I'd be happy to come back to meet friends here.

I used Uber Eats for delivery. I was a bit concerned on how Ethiopian food would transport, but everything was neatly packaged! I got the vegan combination and the mushroom tibs, both with injera. Both dishes were great. The vegan combo had a good mix of many dishes. My favorite from that was the AtaKilt. The Gomen (collard greens) was a bit slimy in texture for my liking, so was my least favorite. The Messer Wot packed some heat! The mushroom tibs were fantastic. Excellent flavor and the bell peppers added a nice textural difference from the mushroom.

This is one of my favorite finds in East Bay so far -- I love the family style of eating, delicious food, and unique cocktails! We tried the Kitfo Special ($21), Sega Tibs ($21), and Doro Wot ($20). All were delicious and had such unique flavor. The amount of injera included was also perfect.I can't remember the exact cocktail that I got, but I had really enjoyed it. Definitely coming back here with more friends in the future!

Tried Café Colucci off a friend's recommendation last night with my mom - great food, great atmosphere, great service. My mom can be a bit picky with where she sits in restaurants and the staff was gracious enough to accommodate us, which I really appreciated - I know it's not always easy. Food was delicious and well-portioned, cocktails were also delicious (and strong)! Got the meat sampler and the tibs. Only thing is that I would probably swap out something to get some more veggies on the plate when I come back, but even with our current order I think there was a good amount. Some of the best Ethiopian food I've had outside of DC, and very comparable to Ethiopian food in DC. Would 100% recommend, will definitely be back here in the future!

I have been wanting to come here since my daughter showed me the place on Yelp. My oldest daughter and I came here all the way from Fairfield and boy was it worth it. The food, the service, the ambiance...well worth the trip. They have a lovely covered outdoor dining area and we will sit there next time we come. If you like drinks they have a well stocked bar with plenty of options.Every employee of the company we encountered was very personable. Now on to the food! Delicious. Nutritious. Savory. Flavorful. Scrumptious...all the words that equate to fabulous. Everything wad well prepared and they provide generous portions that are affordable. We will be back!

Delicious every time! Our go-to is the meat sampler, shiro wat, and the potato chips. Also love that they have gluten free and vegetarian options - we don't usually need to go for those but makes for a great neighborhood restaurant option for when friends visit. We also enjoy trying their beverages. Both the mint lemonade and hot chocolate are great. They also sell their own spices if you're in the market for them.

Really good food. The portions are share-able if you're not too hungry. We got the meat platter they have but our server said the portions were small so my partner and I decided to grab the vegan combo platter as well, needless to say we could've stuck to just the meat combo... still very delicious though and the beers were good as well. Idk if we'll be back because we're only here for a couple more weeks but it was a nice experience.
