Porsche C. "REVIEWER # 4I first discovered Caria Wines during Taste of Richmond at Riggers Loft Winery and I'm so happy to have found this place! Relevantly new, this winery was founded in 2005 and made wine at the local winery in Alameda at Rock Wall Wine Company. As we all know, Rock Wall grew business really quickly and Caria Wines had to find another home. Caria Wines was discovered by two close friends: Charlie and Dick. Dick supplied the grapes and Charlie, with his amazing wine-making skills came together to create their first bottle of the 2005 Sauvignon Blanc (my personal favorite). Now they are nestled in Richmond with beautiful views overlooking the Bay Bridge and views of San Francisco, what more could you ask for? Carica Wine focuses on Red Rhone's, however, since I am not a big red wino I decided to try there tasty Sauvignon Blanc, which is really tasty and one of their popular whites on the white wine side of things. They offer Wine tastings and tours at their new location which is at the Riggers Loft, on the edge of San Francisco Bay in Richmond's Shipyard District. They also offer a Caria Wine Club which gives you: 20 % discount for wine purchases, Free tasting flight of Carica wines at the Tasting Room, 4 shipments per year( February, May, September, and November -- each with 4 bottles selected by the Winemaker) and best of all? Free to join!I will certainly be back to try more of their tasty wines!"

Just walk up, order, and have a seat. As of now, we always get a seat :). It's just a lovely neighborhood spot, and in these uncertain times, we need to support our community! Not to mention, Gratta is women owned and operated. Show up once, they'll remember you and they treat you like family. In terms of wine, go for the Garage Blend! They actually make it in their garage!! I've had the Sangria too, and that's worth a go especially on a warm day. And when it comes to food, everything is AMAZING! Cheese plate, Olives with bread, Spinach Ravioli, Eggplant (when they have it), and PUHLEEZE get that pudding for dessert if you can. It has been sold out the past couple of times, so if go and they have it, would you call me? LOL.Local love to Gratta."

Hanson of Sonoma Tasting Room At Hanson Gallery

Hanson of Sonoma Tasting Room At Hanson Gallery

★★★★★ 4.5 (53)

Jason F. "Handcrafted flavored vodka made with organic ingredients, festive cocktails that highlight that vodka and beautiful artwork all along a picturesque setting makes for a great tasting experience along the Sausalito waterfront. At the Hanson of Sonoma Tasting Room at Hanson Gallery (now that's a mouthful of a title) any visitor can enter to look at the extensive art collection of Hanson Gallery, which has a wide variety of artwork from around the world. But what makes this art gallery so different from all of the others that dot Bridgeway in Sausalito is they also serve highly-specialized vodka in addition to craft cocktails. A friend and I had made some plans to meet up in Marin County, and a vodka and cocktail tasting sounded like the perfect way to spend an afternoon. My friend and I had previously been to the Hanson Gallery for a special event many years before and we both promised ourselves to one day make a return visit because we both remembered how great their flavored vodkas, or as they call them here, expressions tasted. Reservations were easy to make and prepay for online. They have a number of tastings and pairings to select from, but we opted for their Hanson Vodka Tasting of 3 Expressions and a Cocktail for 30 dollars a person. They have five vodka flavors made with organic ingredients that they also sell by the bottle: Original, Cucumber, Meyer Lemon, Mandarin and Habanero. When we arrived, there were plenty of seats available for us to sit as there are two levels to the art gallery with plenty of sofas, counter areas, and even elegantly set outdoor tables in front of their front door on Bridgeway. We decided to sit right at their main bar on their first floor, so we got to see our mixologist Shannon weave her magic, as she not only explained every vodka we decided to try, she showed us how she made our handcrafted cocktails, in addition to creating a number of cocktails that other customers ordered for takeout, which thankfully has now become a major thing due to our current situation. At Hanson, they craft their vodka in their own distillery in nearby Sonoma, which is appropriate since it is wine country and their vodka is distilled from organic grapes and infused with organic ingredients to create a pure and deliciously smooth vodka that's both gluten and GMO free. Since we pre-ordered their three expressions and a cocktail tasting we were allowed to select from their five aforementioned vodkas, plus a seasonal vodka and a whiskey they craft in Sonoma and sell here in their tasting room in Sausalito. I opted for their Cucumber, Mandarin and Habanero vodkas, and although they had a vast menu of cocktails to select from, Shannon let us know they actually had a secret menu that actually had a few extra cocktails on it, one of which featured their seasonal expression, or vodka if you will, called the Prickly and Pink, which took the pink part from a cactus plant and mixed it with their seasonal Hawaiian Ginger Vodka, and Shannon added a little orange bitters direct from local purveyor Bitter Girl Bitters. My friend decided to order their Road to Hana cocktail which features their Hanson Ginger Vodka, Passionfruit, Lime and Agave, which was the cocktail that I would have ordered, had it not been for their secret menu. The Expressions, or vodkas, tasted wonderful as the flavors of all three that we tried, really rang throughout each sip we enjoyed. Their Cucumber Expression has two types of cucumber with a tiny hint of mint, while their Mandarin Expression are cuties sourced from a local farm in Sebastopol, and their Habanero has that extra kick of jalapeno every drop. The star of our afternoon was definitely their cocktails, my Prickly and Pink was made with such precision by Shannon and it was so sublime yet still festive that I felt I was sipping on a drink on the beaches of Kona, which is where Hanson's sources the ginger from which make this particular vodka. I can't wait to return many more times in the year to sample their other seasonal expressions, where they take seasonal ingredients and turn them into a special flavor of vodka, from Boysenberry in the fall to Espresso in the Winter to Grapefruit in the Summer, there isn't a season that doesn't sound divine. Enjoying my time at Hanson of Sonoma Tasting Room sipping on both cocktails and vodka shots is the only way to spend a relaxing Saturday afternoon with friends. They also serve charcuterie platters, shucked oysters and marcona almonds, of which we ordered some and noshed while we sipped away. Here they make you feel as if we were all members of their Club, of which we saw many people come in to pick up their quarterly bottle shipments, in addition to pre-mixed cocktails to-go. They're proud to be both distillers and artists at the Hanson of Sonoma Tasting Room at Hanson Gallery and at their Sausalito location, you get the best of both worlds."

I had never been here before, but I was pleasantly amazed by the views, urban winery ambiance, and superb service by a very kind and generous server (I forgot your name but you had short silver hair and glasses)! She made me feel so welcome with some bubbly in the beginning and gave me great tips. I ordered bottles rather than everyone do wine flights. I chose my favorites - rose, merlot, and a tempranillo to start off our party. S told me when he reserved the table, it was originally for only an hour and a half, but we stayed here for quite some time since they didn't need the tables! My friends decorated the festivities and they were very accommodating with supplying us with forks and napkins. Since Urban Legend Cellars does not have food, they allowed us to bring our our charcuterie boards and snacks. Supposedly they typically have food trucks at the site, but this time they didn't.My friend ordered more bubbly to go along with the cake cutting and I ordered another bottle of a more fruity red wine blend. Very delicious altogether and the views of SF across the bay was incredible! Loved my birthday surprise here and can't wait to come back!"

Joanna M. "If tasked with bringing wine to a dinner party, let Vintage Berkeley be your tastemaker. I had received a missive from the host that said we were having lamb and to bring something appropriate. I went to text my oenophile friend for a recommendation but my phone was on the fritz. Eff technology. Was picked up by another guest who recommended VB, and he stepped on the gas and blew two red lights to get there before closing at eight o'clock on a Saturday night. Not my idea.I ran in while Basil the maniac circled the block, and had just made it in time. I told the shopkeeper of our exploits and he chuckled and said next time to just call ahead and he'll stay open for us. He recommended a rioja to be paired with the lamb, and it was perfect and only $20. Went back yesterday for a less rushed visit, and saw that most wines are under $25, and that the shop has a great diversity of wines, so not only are France, Italy, and California represented, but South American, Spanish, South African, and Slovenian wines are on the scene too. They also offer in-store wine tastings, so perhaps while us east bayers are impatiently awaiting a CM to arrive on a chariot and entertain us, we can converge here and be orphans together!"

They make me feel sexy. They give me life. I have this weird urge to go to Vegas, now. This past August, Sol Rouge Winery gave me the same feeling of, "I feel like hot gangsta awesomeness, because I'm on this island in the middle of the Bae Area, drinking wine, watching locals knock bocce ball (so bourgeoise), and picnic-ing with 50+ cheeses deep, all while admiring both the Golden Gate and Bay Area Bridges.
