"Hands down one of the best chopped cheese sandwiches I've consumed in quite some time! Scolari's Food Truck is exclusively located outside Almanac Beer Co. "on the island" in Alameda. With just a few items to truly focus on, I went with the chopped cheese after our friends mentioned they come to this truck specifically for this sandwich. The filling is light and creamy, bread fresh and crispy, a solid cash spend on a hard earned Friday. Truly couldn't be a more perfect combination of ingredients and Scolari's did it right. Paired with the Black Pepper Hawaiian Mac Salad, even more yum!Having not been to the actual Scolari's restaurant on Park Street, this was a great warm up pitch for the real deal. I do appreciate the food truck's dedicated menu to serving folks like me a taste of Scolari's. I noticed people ordering the instagrammable Blueberry Bacon Blue Cheese Burger, and man what a beauty! You will know it when you see it..has anyone tried it? Would love to know the taste profile!Service was stellar and I truly enjoyed the whole vibe of beer on the island, views & food truck love. Solid peeps, solid food. Also to note, the hand cut spuds are super comforting and delicious with the house aioli and ketchup. I read this food truck has taken many forms, once a 1964 vintage Airstream camper trailer converted to serve the people!Looking forward to trying the Park Street location. Coming from a family of East Coasters, I noticed the restaurant has a Taylor Ham Egg & Cheese sandwich which you don't typically see over here in the Bay Area..looking forward to testing it out! Especially because the menu says it comes with ketchup! (If you know, you know)"
"Our order - 2 croissant breakfast sandwiches (egg+bacon and egg+bacon+cheddar cheese), 2 lattes (iced vanilla and hot plain), and the lemon loaf. Everything was super fresh and delicious. The guy at the counter was likely the owner and he was so friendly and shared some details as we chatted about the ultra moist and fresh lemon loaf - better than any I've ever had. The croissants were toasted (panini style), super flakey and melted in our mouths. The eggs and bacon were just as delightful! The espresso used for the lattes is smooth and robust with flavor. We'll be back!!!"

"Best burger in the east bay and potentially SF. The service was excellent. Prove me wrong."
"My family loves coming to The Beanery, especially for their spicy chicken panini! It's such a perfect lunch (or anytime) meal. The spicy sauce is really flavorful and not too spicy. The chicken is well cooked and not too dry. And the panini is perfectly toasted. I've gotten coffee from here as well and have never been disappointed. Most recently I also got an Italian soda. It was a little sweet for me so next time I'll ask for less syrup. But I still really liked it! They have SO many flavors available, I almost didn't know which to go with. If you need somewhere to start, you can't go wrong with orange (it's basically just an orange soda).Parking in the lot can be tough - there are plenty of spaces but it is shared with all the other businesses and restaurants. I would recommend parking on the street or in the neighborhood nearby as The Beanery is on the farther end of the market, away from the lot. They've got lots of tables, both inside and outside, if you plan to stay awhile. I even noticed a lot of people with their laptops, getting some work done. The cafe is accessible on its own from the outside but you can also get there by going through the market."
"Quality/Quantity - Special Combo with Pork Roll Slices - Good, my usual go to item.BBQ Chicken with Mayo - Got this for my wife, her usual go to item.Large Chow Mein - Been craving noodles...All of which were good. Nothing special, but good. Good solid food for reasonable prices. Also available are drinks, snacks, prepared foods, etc. See pictures. Also available are soups, rice plates, lunch specials.Catering is also available. I saw a separate line for catering pick up, and it was busy!Atmosphere - Good size location; it looks like they are expanding into next door...? See pictures. No restrooms; they had signs posted everywhere throughout. They must get asked this often.Street parking, good luck.Open 7 days a week from 7am to 6pm.Service - Again, nothing special. Good, not bad. Efficient, not friendly, but not rude.It was busy prime lunch time, but they were fairly organized. I also felt that most, if not all, of their customers were regulars, they all seemed to know where to stand and get in line, especially because they had minimum signage/directions.Price - $20.50, inexpensive in my opinion.2.8% charge to use a credit card. I paid cash.Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1985 and with your two locations."
"If you're going to Eggy's Neighborhood Eatery and you need a smoothie or coffee, just go downstairs! There's a counter you can order from. Very quick service. I wish I knew that before I went down the street for coffee, but I ordered another coffee anyway! The waiter had me at horchata latte. $7 Go get you one while you're waiting in the looooong line at Eggy's. They also have a banana latte that isn't on the menu yet. I hope to try that next time. The barista was very nice about letting me try the horchata and asking me the sweetness to coffee ratio."
"Y-Linh Sandwiches opened where Golden Bakery once was. Order to go only with cashier, not kiosk. No seating inside. Able to order promptly as it wasn't busy 11ish. Minimal decor. Offerings: banh mi, Vietnamese healthy drinks, snacks in cooler.Eats: Ba Chi (pork belly) banh mi (8)-option of cutting banh mi in 1/2, separating veggies outside of banh mi. -grilled pork belly slices tastes similar to charsiu.-limited veggie's: cilantro, jalepenos, cucumbers, daikon strips with slight smear of pate? Mayo?*nice change from usual combo, meatballs...Drink: Sam Bo Luong/Mu Trom (6)-heard it pronounced "mo gai", recommended by cashier to another customer. A Viet health drink.-minimal sugar, pandan jelly, basil chia seeds, jujube, ginseng extract?...*healthier than boba drinks, Viet mix drinks..4.5 stars love the personalized service, traditional Viet eats with new protein options for banh mi."
"I had the croissant and egg sandwich with fruit on the side and a big mocha. Very good!"
"Went there for lunch today with the family - it was delightful! The Italian sodas were a hit and so were the sandwiches and soup. We wished we tried it earlier. It's now going to be in our regular lunch rotations. We ate on the cute patio in the back."
"Came here after a show at the Fox Theater (which is only a few steps down). SO FRIKIN GOOD!!! Service was friendly and welcoming. I love their casual, laid back, quick stop vibe. Both their gyros and shawarmas were sooooo good!!!! A must try!"
"I think this is the best banh mi place in Berkeley in my opinion. It has the airy and crunchy baguette with appropriate amount of fill of protein and vegetables. I'm surprised they add some spicy jalapeño slices! Perfect for my taste and brings me some nostalgia but it isn't for everyone. I don't make any adjustments to banh mi orders except maybe add an fried egg once a while. At less than $10 a sandwich it's a good size and overall tasty. I've tried about 5 different sandwiches and my favorite is the lemongrass pork. It has a bit of patte and seasoned pork. I usually order ahead (I usually buy 5+ sandwiches for the week) and pick up was normal and easy."
"Food & service were good, but sadly they do not accept cash anymore and that is my preferred payment method. They take my choice, so mostly I now prefer to grab coffee and eat elsewhere. It's super close & otherwise convenient"

Food truck next to Almanac brewing company. Buy food from the truck, take your buzzer and drink next door. If you have time on a nice sunny day great idea to come here. These days the weather isn't so great - so be careful what day you pick. If it is raining or really cold the brewery is always a decent option. My go to is the blueberry, bacon, blue cheese burger. The meat and bread is always great. Seasoned patty perfect and french fries seem ok. I think the fries could be better and maybe they have decreased in quality lately. I have yet to explore the menu but certain items seem a tad more expensive than they should be. I know I like the berry burger so I usually stick to what works. If your coming from the 880 highway its very time consuming to drive here. Streets are slow and tons of stop signs and street lights. I've got one friend deep deep in the Hayward hills and I'm always shocked how long it takes to drive a few miles. This is the same deal. I think when you live in such places it can give a feel of isolation. I think overall the main Scolari's is a little nicer with the actual tiny restaurant. Also the prices have been slowly creeping up and certain items seem a little too high.

Literally the best BLT I've ever had. Wow. I don't live very close but will return just to get this sandwich again. Great drinks and pastries too. And nice staff. Definitely get your lunch here!

I dropped by this place on a whim, actually, I was planning on grabbing some fried chicken but went with a double smash burger instead, and I regret absolutely nothing. The patties were exactly what you might be looking for in a smash patty with just the right amount of thickness and plenty of crispiness and the fries had the perfect ratio of crisp and softness. If you drop by to grab a burger, make sure to buy a side of the pickled radish and the kimchi aioli. The radish will cleanse your palate between bites, and the aioli is perfect for dipping your fries in or you could go crazy and just drown your burger in it lolFinish the meal off with an Oreo shake and I assure you you'll leave a happy camper.

From top to bottom an amazing sandwich. The bread was crispy yet gentle on the gums unlike some other places. Nice thick slices of proteins and a very flavorful pork cake. Pate was very well balanced. Veggies were fresh and crispy after my long ride back home to the Eastbay. Definitely worth the trip next time I crave a Banh Mi

One of my favorite places to grab a quick brunch. Food is delicious, the people who work here are great, and it has a chill environment that's perfect for unwinding with a pot of tea and a croissant sandwich!

"All I ever crave is a Turkey sandwich and now we have an amazing halal deli shop! Alhamdullilah! The menu is actually pretty extensive. They have gyros , falafel , paninis. I think I even saw orange chicken! But you can't go wrong with a sandwich! The Vietnamese coffee was also delicious! I'll be coming here again inshAllah! Definitely recommend"
"Killer sandwiches - little pricey but worth it. Pretty quick service, never really had to wait too long unless I had a large order. Recommend going at "off peak" times as it can get busy there and they're moving as quick as they can. Sandwiches have a lot of flavor, not the usual "fast food" bland taste. As I said... worth it. Cheesesteaks are good!!"
"The Sandwich Meister is serving up burritos and burgers at the Oakland Food Hall in East Oakland. The other day I was in the area, and was able to do a pickup at their location at 2353 E12th St. That's the home of a large Cloud Kitchen facility, and where you can find 30-40 ghost kitchens. Using the DoorDash (Dash Pass) App for pickup, I ordered "The Burger" for $12.50.The menu says- " A juicy 6 oz burger served on a perfect brioche bun with caramelized onions, chipotle remoulade, pickles, tomato and lettuce." Ok, the burger is all that. It's actually a good burger, but for $12.50 it should be a cheeseburger with fries. Food presentation is everything. I sense Sandwich Meister is trying to offer this as something special for $12.50. But really it's a burger in a takeout box from a ghost kitchen. And the reality is, you can get a fully dressed 1/3-lb cheeseburger at Nation's for around $7.00.Why 4-Stars? Hamburger 101: Burger patty was cooked medium, and was juicy. Bun was toasted and caramelized. Lettuce, tomato slices, pickles and sauces were properly placed to create good flavor distribution. Patty was drained properly, no meat juices running off in the takeout box, bun wasn't soggy. This burger was made correctly and tasted good. Good quality control. Now, I don't know about the other menu items they serve. Hopefully other reviewers will add their experiences. Service? It's not fair to score the restaurant on the fault of the Oakland Food Hall. But my order was ready on time. Sandwich Meister is a ghost kitchen in the Oakland Food Hall."
"Be well is the BE ALL. I selfishly wish it was open every day of every week because it legit nourishes my belly soul. I've tried every smoothie on the menu and can confidently say they're all hitters in their own way. For me it depends on the day's vibe. Hot days call for La Palma. Sweet days desire The Licuado or Well Whip. Indulgent days need that Nana Cao. Fit days like a fresh Strawberry Mama or Blueberry Dreams. And every day in between is dedicated to my go to's CoCo Sphere and Blue Ocean. You really can't go wrong! The juices are great too and in combination can create the perfect cleanse. Now if you're not about a cleanse, don't sleep on the food. Their sandwiches are the underrated stars. My personal favorite is the salmon lox. However, I would argue the turkey sandwich is easily top 5 best sandwiches in the Bay Area. Also, that avocado toast is the amuse bouche. They truly know flavors. Mouth feels gone wild in the best way.I could go on and on but I'll just end on a chef's kiss and "I'm not worthy" bow to the owners, Amy and Vic."
"I can't believe I'm saying this but....Cay banh mi might just have beat Duc Huong's!My husband and I stumbled upon Cay cafe while hanging out in Fremont. From their Yelp they had fairly new ratings and so we decided to try it. And let me tell you.....it's was fabulous! Their bread was freshly baked and so perfect. It had a crispy crust and soft filling. We ordered the combination cold cut and the grilled pork sandwich. I just can't believe how different their bread, pate and meats tasted verse other Vietnamese sanwhich shops. It was supreme! Their pate/butter/cold cuts/bread was better than duc huong and it tasted more fresh. Even their pickled veggies which I don't like (I enjoyed here)! We've had our fair share of banh mi's at many local spots and other states. But I'm so glad we found Cay Cafe! It's a 10/10 for us!"
"I've known of A-town Pizza for a looooong time. I don't know why we never went here because you shouldn't judge a store by its storefront.L O C A T I O NOn Whipple in a small plaza with Amy's Donuts. They have a parking lot that's shared with all the businesses here. Easily found parking directly in front.I N S I D EThere's not much space inside like it's like a few steps from the door to the desk. I peeked in and there's a small table that may seat two people. So make sure you're coming here to just grab and go.M E N UThe have pizza as well as some appetizers, desserts, calzones, salads, sub sandwiches, pastas, and soft drinks. For pizza, pricing is basically the same as doing custom toppings so if there's some items on a specialty pizza that you don't want, just build your own pizza. Though the one thing I did notice was that there was no choice on the sauce but I'm sure you can ask. If you do go online to order, it's nice you can split toppings to different halves of the pizza. Also the prices of the pizza was cheaper than another place we were looking at.We got a Party Size - 20" pizza with mushrooms and tomatoes all over the pizza, on one half - ground beef, ham, and pineapple and the other half - chicken, zucchini and (red) onions. It's not stated on the toppings list that it's red onions which I'm glad we ended up only putting it on one side as my stomach doesn't handle red onions (specifically) well. The pizza was a bit soggy in the middle but crisp on the outside which I'm not mad at. I just folded it over as it's large anyways and it was a nice contrast to the crisp outside. The pizza had a thin crust, love. The outer crust not super bready. The marinara sauce was full of flavor and the ground beef tasted like it was seasoned which was a nice touch.S E R V I C EI called in my order which I ended up using the phone number on their website which is (510) 471-7677. Yelp has a different number but if you try to edit it, it's locked and with the right number...quite weird. The person who picked up the phone was very kind and patient as I was trying to give specific half and half and full toppings. Everything was right on the order and we paid easily when we came. We were told 20 minutes and we came around that time and the pizza was just coming out. Perfect.O V E R A L LIn retrospect, we didn't need a party size but now we know. Crisp crust with fresh flavorful toppings. Great service and looking forward to trying out more of their toppings and smaller sized pizza. Definitely glad we finally tried this place out and nice to have another option in the area."
"Food is good service is good. But $7.00 for iced coffee.. its already premade. They just pour it in a cup for you. Seems high. I guess thats how it goes now, everything expensive. The premade sticky rice with chicken and sausage was tasty and pretty cheap still. Smaller portion and no wait time."
"First time I ordered the Italian and this was during the beginning of Covid. Then I decided come here after work STARVING at like 8am last week. At 8am, there aren't much restaurants or shops opened that serve non-breakfast food. Had the Turkey avocado with sliced sourdough w/ no onions two times and also got the Bumpcity cheesesteak for my brother. A lot of bread options, customer service is quick and friendly. They have mini coolers that hold soda, juice and other drinks that you can get. The interior is clean and spacious. You can actually sit there and eat if you wanted to. I think I'm going to come here every other week now because the Turkey Avocado reminds me of this sandwich I used to eat as a child."
"We've been coming to this place for over 20 years. Although we don't come here often, it is always satisfying getting a grab to eat coming to this place. We always call our order in. It usually takes about 10 minutes for them to prepare it. Their Philly cheese steak is pretty good here. You outta try it."
"The best French style bakery I have ever been to.The olive bread knot was amazing. It's all good."
"Quick and friendly service. I ordered the chilaquiles. Perfect order for a quick bite to eat. The restaurant gives local diner vibes, and I don't hate that."
"When I first entered I was greeted with warm smiles by the staff.I got the chicken skewers and it came with a salad bathed in a vinaigrette and two small potato slices, aswell as a side a green and yellow sauce. The chicken skewers were extremely juicy and tender. The marinade on the chicken was mouthwatering and when I had some of the salad it came with in the vinaigrette it felt like a flavor bomb in my mouth. The sauces on the side honestly weren't necessary because everything I ate had so much flavor but the sauces still tasted amazing aswell. I love this place! I'll definitely be back for other items."
"This place is great is you have a sweet tooth or if you want a quick bite for lunch. They have a good variety of Agua Frescas which in fact they go crazy with their tortas. I grabbed a turkey torta Today, must add queso fresco for the all time experience ."
"Porky's BBQ Sandwiches is a cloud/shared kitchen inside The Oakland Food Hall, aka "Jingletown Eats" in East Oakland. I ordered two of their sandwiches, and had them delivered by Grubhub/Seamless on a Friday evening. I ordered: The Smoked Hotlink Slider and Pulled Pork Slider. You get 2 sandwiches per order. When I opened the takeout box everything looked fine. But with closer inspection, I noticed that the sandwich fillings were a little tossed around. So I took each slider out of the box and had to re-assemble them. The Smoked Hotlink Slider (4/5): I liked this sandwich the best. It's just half a hotlink (split), pickles, BBQ sauce and coleslaw on a brioche bun. It's simple, but it tastes good and it's easy to eat. ($6.99 for 2).The Pulled Pork Slider (3/5): This sandwich got tossed around during delivery. There wasn't much coleslaw, and the meat was dry and hard to chew. Otherwise, it had a nice flavor and the bun was soft. ($7.99 for 2).Service and Speed (5/5): My order was prepared quickly and ready to go before the expected time. So that was excellent, no delays on a Friday night. So, overall it's a 4-star experience. I probably won't order the Pulled Pork Slider again. I like trying out new cloud kitchens at jingletown Eats, mainly because everything is a brand new experience. FYI: Cloud Kitchens have no diningroom. Everything is pickup or delivery. Sales are done thru apps or on a website. It's not a restaurant, it's food prep facility with multiple kitchens."
"I ate here today for lunch. I ordered a turkey sandwich that was heated. The menu here is simple but it wasn't an issue for me. The bread plus everything else in my turkey sandwich was delicious. If your in the area or even if your not, I highly recommend this business if your craving a freshly made sandwich. The owner here is also a professional and it's clear he cares about your satisfaction.Martin"
"Things started out so well for us, Thanh Thuy and I. A nicely toasted roll, a surprise dollop of pate, a generous portion of Xa Xiu (bbq pork), a complete absence of cilantro (as requested), a nice handful of pickled veggies . . .And then there it was. A hair sticking out between the meat and pickled daikon. It looked to be only a half-inch, but as I tugged on it, it was like the Energizer Bunny and kept going and going. Around 8-9 inches when all was said and done!! I guess I should be thankful it wasn't short & curly and I have to admit that it had a nice body wave and some highlights, but really wasn't my type. Hey, at least I got to enjoy half a reasonably tasty sandwich before deciding to break things off. Good luck Thanh Thuy. I hope you can find someone who can appreciate you for who you are . . . a sandwich shop in need of a hair net."
"4-ish stars but I'm gonna round up because service was pretty friendly. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the BBQ pork in my banh mi. Although flavorful the exterior of the meat slices were old-crusty, almost jerky-like. The banh mi bread was a bit different than what I'm used to. Really dense and hearty.....reminded me of sourdough but without the tang. At first I wasn't really on board of it not having a crisp but it grew on me after a couple of bites because of how springy-spongy it was.Favorite part of the sandwich was the pickled veggies! Yeah, they matter to me a lot in banh mi and I think this was the best rendition of the veggies that I've had. Veggies were cut more thickly and were perfectly pickle-y and al dente. No skimpy portion of them either!I also had the Vietnamese iced coffee. Smooth and actually pretty strong for a Vietnamese coffee. Minimal cream used here, which I didn't mind at all since I generally like the Vietnamese coffee brew taste.Seems like a family-run business. Staff were thriving during the lunch rush. Several customers were unfamiliar with this type of food but staff were eager to answer any questions about it.Located in the outskirts of midtown where parking, although still on the street, is only time-limited (no hourly meter charge)."
"Love this place!I work in the area twice a week and this spot has become a must stop before work. I usually arrive around little after 5AM, so there's not a lot of customers. I order a large sugar vanilla latte with oat milk, extra hot and they make it consistently the same, which is really good!FYI, they only take cash. There is an ATM inside the store. Highly recommend!"
"I've only had one meal here so I can't say this is an accurate review of the whole place, but what I will review is the salad--I got an italiano. On first glance, it looked like a hefty amount, but I think the proportions are off because within just a few bites I was completely done with the meat and toppings and I was just left with green leaves with barely any dressing left. It's a little expensive for 95% leaves and 5% everything else I'll come back for the smoothies and sandwiches and see if I can change my mind"
"MLK Jr 2025 - The Primitivo is superb This winery has food options and is KID FRIENDLY- SOLD We had a great time ! Thank you for an awesome birthday celebration !"
"I came here for the burritos but they don't have them anymore, so i pivoted and ordered some of the pastries. I had a few of the croissants and they were all pretty good. The lady at the counter was nice, but it was on the busier side so it was purely transactional experience but the service was good and it was quick. The place was nicely decorated inside, but like the other reviews it's more of a grab and go place. I bought one pack of the cookies, and as the reviews say.... WOW. I was actually surprised that this was the same owner as the stand at the farmers markets. So now i dont have to wait for a farmers market to get some goodies. I do hope the burritos come back though."
"Amazing bagels and coffee. Loved that it was organic coffee as well. Service was friendly and quick with orders."
"This place was super cute! The paintings , little decorations, gifts/mugs from customers from all around Latin America just all signals that this place is well loved by the owner and the community. The owner is Mexican and she is super friendly and gave me and my kids free coffee and chia to try. The coconut chia sample was actually really delicious! I ordered two sandwiches and two avocado toast to go and they turned out all pretty decent, each with a side salad to go with it which is nice. The only downside is that the order took awhile at close to 4pm when we ordered. First time here so don't know if at usual lunch time it would be faster or not. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised by this neighborhood gem!"
