"This place is always packed! Love how they updated it with a mural painted on the wall. The service is good. Food comes out as quickly as they can which means, for really good pupusas, you're going to have to be patient. The pupusas are always so delicious! The Salvadoran tamales are flavorful and amazing! My son decided to try the pupusas locas!!! It's HUGE!!! And it's so good. I love this place!"
"Food: 3/5I ordered two Pupusas. One queso y ayote and one queso y pollo. I found them to be mild in flavor and thinly filled. The red sauce enhanced the flavor and the spicy cabbage added kick. I enjoyed the queso y ayote over the queso y pollo. This was my first time here. I've had Pupusas before but frijol y queso. I love some refried beans. Overall the food was good, just preferred more filling and flavor. For a beverage I went with a Pineapple agua Fresca. I wish they offered Hibiscus or strawberry. The selection was limited to three flavors. Service: 5/5Customer service is the key component to any transaction. The server greeted me when I entered, and was helpful answering questions I had regarding the menu. My order was freshly made and came out pretty quick. She checked in to see if everything was ok. I love great customer service. Ambiance: 3/5The restaurant was clean, empty, just one couple inside. The decor was minimal. Your standard dining tables and booths."

"I can only comment on the food, which was super good. I did a huge take out order for my family and everyone was very please. The pupusas were great and the sweet corn masa was also good. I would go again"
"Decent carne asada fries! They are crispy if eaten quickly, perfectly topped, and have okay flavor and seasoning. Their pupusas are also very flavorful and great! The outer shell is crunchy while the inside is tender and flavorful. The restaurant is pretty dark to eat in, and they do use cardboard for their fries which can be very soggy. It is also quite busy at times so the wait can be long as well-- which is why it's 4! The fries are ~$14 after tax though which is on the pricier side. I recommend eating in for the food as it is fresh and the condensation can really sober up the food. They also sometimes give a bag of marinated veggies which I really enjoyed, but I noticed that they stopped this during my last two orders. However, the red sauce and veggies were complimentary the times before. The Mexican horchata and Salvadorean horchata tasted relatively the same, both were on the sweeter side."
"This place was pretty good. It was kind of a hole in the wall but the staff was friendly. They had no customers though and the food took a long time. I did like all the papusa options and the food was fresh. Someone not far from us had a whole fish on their plate, seemed good and im a vegetarian! The parking is horrible but that is not why there is one star less. It was just soul less."
"I've been craving pupusas so we decided to check where could deliver from doordash! Pupusas salvadorenas was the first place that popped up so we decided to give it shot. I'm so glad that we did! The pupusas are pretty worth it! It's a good size for the price! It arrived wrapped individually which I appreciate so that the steam doesn't get them all soggy and stuck together, and I was able to reheat one by one if needed. We ordered chicken & cheese pupusas, and plain cheese pupusas. My favorite was the chicken, and I always order extra curtido (the cabbage stuff on top) because I love it, there's was a little different than I've had before-- it had a tangy taste, but still good! I'd definitely recommend to fulfill your cravings!"
"my family and I recently moved to San Pablo. I found this place to be one of the best place around my neighborhood so far that has the best pupusas. My family and I come here to enjoy their delicious pupusas. I really do not know what happen today, I've been trying to order pupusas since 4:30pm and they hang up on me, called them back and having trouble hearing them. Perhaps their phone is not working. I can't think on other explanation bc I've order before over the phone and they've been so kind to me and bring me the food out to my car when I pick my order bc of my baby and 2 years old kid.Dunno what happen and I hope they fix their phone soon bc it says that they aren't to busy around this time.My kids and I wanted pupusas today I still recommended!"

Kept hearing that this was one of the best pupuserias in the Bay, and BOYYYYYYY they weren't playin! My boyfriend and I came here after a lil 3 mile hike and were glad to finally check out what the buzz was all about. When we entered, we told staff we were looking to order to go. They took our order swiftly and were very patient prior to that since we wanted to decide the best course of action for choosing between all the things we wanted to try. We got the following:- Aguas frescas de ensalada: I saw this and was instantly thrown back to the days my friends and I would use this as a mix or chase for parties in college. I haven't had it in years so I was super juiced to be able to indulge in one of my favorite Salvadoran drinks again. - Pork bean cheese pupusas: my boyfriend and I made sure to ask how big the pupusas were here - and they were HUGE! We loved how the cheese complemented the savory flavor of the pork and that the pupusas were nice and soft but didn't fall apart easily like other places. - Birria bomb pupusas: AMAZING. This one came as a surprise to us and we really liked how tender the birria on the inside was! This was such a pleasant treat especially after walking up incline right before heading to the restaurant and picking up a meal. The venue itself is nice, spacious, and vibrant. It can accommodate parties of all sizes and even has a little outdoor area if you want to sit outside. We loved the vibes and the food and look forward to coming back again, and it was a plus since everything was affordable too!

I wasn't sure if it was self seating or if I needed to check in with anyone but it wasn't busy when I walked in, so I just sat at a table of choice. Service was great and the pupusas were made fresh. They were piping out when I was served. The inside of the restaurant is fairly quiet and I appreciated the fact that they a designated parking space available!Bean and Cheese Pupusa -- 4.5/5. Can't really go wrong with a bean and cheese pupusa honestly.Chicken and Cheese Pupusa -- 5/5. Packed with so much flavor, this pupusa was honestly my favorite!Would definitely recommend Los Planes to one that is craving pupusas and wanting to eat them in a restaurant!

El Cuscatlan! Wow, never had Salvadorian so good. Located in a quaint shopping center in Hercules they serve one the best Pescado Frito I've had. They also have handmade tortillas and a great abondiga soup.Next time? They have a Salvadorian menudo.

Decided to try it in spite of the few harsh reviews! The front staff was very helpful even though my Spanish is pathetic and their English was only a little better. Picked up a dozen papusas and then discovered that they would be willing to make us vegetarian empanadas! Those are hard to get. Well worth the wait! The place is not fancy but clean and had a steady stream of customers. Some to eat inside but mostly to go orders. Definitely popular with locals. Give it a try!

We came here for lunch after seeing the very long line at Sukies. My dad thought it was Mexican food but turns out, it's Salvadoran food. We were quickly seated and attended to. I got the shrimp trio. It had fried shrimp, grilled shrimp and sautéed shrimp with rice and veggies. It was pretty tasty. My daughter had the New York steak and it was delicious! My dad got the fried fish, I can't remember what it was called but it wasn't the tilapia one. Overall good experience, fast service and tasty food. I'd go back again with the intention of getting Salvadoran food rather than Mexican.

"Wow, why didn't I try this place sooner???!!!I've seen it each time I go to the Asian grocery in the same complex, but I didn't try it until just recently. The restaurant is big with larger dining area in the back. I think you can have a more private function in the back! The food menu is large! Lots of el savadorian plates offerings and the portions were huge!!! My husband and I each got a plate (steak Ranchero and another steak plate). The portion was very generous and the homemade tortilla is the thicker pupusa like, freshly made to order and came out piping hot!The frijoles/refried beans were the BEST I've had! The flavors were amazing! My picky toddler devoured the food!!! She kept asking for more bites, especially the frijoles! We also ordered 2 pupusas, the pork and cheese and the chicken and cheese. They were very good too!We will certainly come back again in the future!"
"My daughter loves their raspado's vanilla ones. I will say there reasonably priced. Very good she even has left over to make more at home. (The ingredients) They're very kind and friendly. If I can't pronounce a name. She will come out of her truck and look at the picture."
"Very good giv them a try y'all u not going to say no but say more please god bless enjoy your day"
"It's been a while since I reviewed but I will for pupusas! You know the pupusas must be amazing when the entire menu is in Spanish. I was super craving pupusas when I picked up my husband from the airport and am so glad we drove out here. I had the bean and cheese and cheese and vegetables ones while my hubby had the pork ones. Sooo tasty, they're made so fresh too. And couldn't get enough of the fresh slaw and sauce. The mango jugo were real tasty too. You can tell that was fresh as well. Its a small hole in the wall, unpretentious shop so you can easily miss it when you're driving by. And it closes early at 7 pm so get here early for dinner!"
"New Salvadorian restaurant in Hayward! Plenty of parking but it can get full on the weekends. The host was friendly and answered my questions. The food is cooked to order. I opted to take home. The restaurant was clean and has a home style vibe. The plants are beautiful and I definitely think adding more would make it even more welcoming. The food I ordered were 2 pupusas, 2 Jarritos sodas and 1 bread (quesadilla) Overall the food was good and flavorful. The salsa for the pupusas was not spicy at all. I usually like a little more spice. The actual pupusas were tasty but I think they needed more cheese. I ordered the "revueltas" which means mixed. There was not much cheese mixed in. Other reviews mentioned theirs had a lot of cheese so it may have just been the type I ordered. Overall I'm excited that we have a new restaurant option in this vacant spot and I'll definitely be trying more of their dishes."
"Soooo good. The location is a little unsanitary but the food is delicious. Some of the best pupusas I've ever had!"
"Yuri's Restaurant is in Sombrerioto Loco's space. interior looks same. just take out now. offerings: Mexican, Salvadorean, Honduran eatseats: Chicken tamale (3.50, Honduran), Pork tamale (3, Salvadorean)-both tamales were very large, bigger than the usual cart offerings.Honduran one had firm masa, lots of chicken meats within, mostly drySalvadorean tamale had semi-moist, smooth masa, a few pieces of juicy pork pieces, came with sour cream, green salsa.drink: watermelon aqua fresca (comped) -very addictive taste, lightly iced, with fresh watermelon flavor. there's sugar. unsure how much. it's mixed expertly. menu & pics didn't have pricing. would skip tamale next time. too dry. lots of other choices."
"I'm not well-versed in Central American food by any stretch of the imagination, but even a simpleton like me can recognize the iconic pupusa. I've been meaning to try this dish for the longest time, and I finally had the pleasure to at Platano. I have an obsession for restaurants with less imposing interiors, because you'll often find the best food in such hole-in-the-wall establishments. I can say this phenomena still holds true after my visit to Platano. The lunch specials are a bit pricey (you'll spend around 20 bucks including tax and tip) but very worth it. The pupusas come out piping hot and made-to-order. And, if you're lucky, some of the cheese will seep out the sides, resulting in a crispy, salty skirt around your pupusa. I ordered the Revuelta (Crispy and Tender Fried Pork with Cheese) and the Queso con Loroco (Cheese and Salvadoran Flower). Though the Revuelta Pupusa is the most popular, the Queso con Loroco was my favorite. The flowers added a great, leafy contrast to the decadent cheese, while the other pupusa's pork was just pedestrian and a bit dry. The portions here are quite large; the side salads could almost serve as an entree even! The food was incredible overall, and our waiter was very attentive throughout our whole visit. Honestly, I don't understand Berkeley Social's foot traffic when the better food is just next door."
