"I only found this place because I have a coworker who has Russian ties, and I really wanted to expose myself with some Russian goodies. Here in California, Russian culture is not readily available or really exposed. You have to dig. Like how many Russian restaurants do you know of? *crickets* Exactly. This store is small, like 7-11 small. It does have some Russian groceries but it also has Armenian and possibly other eastern European staples. It is wild and I am slowly trying stuff out to get a feel for this type of culinary experimentation. Things I've found so far:Cold case with lots of salted/cured meats ie. fish, cold cuts, even salmon caviar. I like this Russian style bologna that my friend recommended. It is made here in the US but has Russian flair. It is way better than American bologna as it is firmer and a better flavor. Just look for a baby's image on the packaging. I always tell my friends "get the bologna with the baby on it!" It just cracks me up.They have piroshkis in a bread case. It is a baked roll stuffed with something. All the ones here are vegetable stuffing like mushroom, cabbage or spinach. My fave is ground beef with cheese but they don't have those here. The spinach is alright, especially after microwaving for a few seconds, per recommendation of the owner/register dude. The bread is soft and slightly sweet. Many different types of honeys and preserves. Many different brands of basmati rice from different countries. Do you want one from India, Afghanistan or Pakistan? A frozen case has these Russian dumplings similar to pierogi called Pelmeni. I haven't tried yet but my coworker says to dip them in sour cream after boiling. Okay will do.Nice place to delve into an adventure. Glad it is within my reach."
"All edibles Nepali can be found here, or at least it looks like they have everything a Kathmandu housewife would want. But what do I know? I visited Nepal once two decades ago and was lucky enough to share a meal with my local guide and his family. I remember that meal well because his wife had to go to the next door neighbor to find me a fork. I know there was a lot of dal and peas in their diet, and sure enough, there's a huge variety to be found here in individual bags (photo: http://bit.ly/2qw6aMu). Four Nepalese friends decided to open this small but nicely organized grocery store a couple of years ago.It was a delight to explore the aisles for spices, mustard oil (photo: http://bit.ly/2HnZV75), pickles (photo: http://bit.ly/2GXbSRB), and even incense (photo: http://bit.ly/2qxqzRh). Jamie W. and I were tempted by the many exotic items on hand like the hard-dried cheese candies (photo: http://bit.ly/2quXh5J) but settled on a bag of unskinned coconut slices that were thankfully unsweetened as well a bag of chana dal that we added later to a mixed lentil soup (photo: http://bit.ly/2GYBrlm). There was quite a treasure trove of unusual delights in here, definitely worthwhile to peruse in order to find your inner sherpa."
"Faisal Market is a small market that specializes in Indian/Pakistani food. wasn't sure till i checked the website. halal meat counter in the rear, small aisles containing condiments, sauces, packaged goods, pre-made pastries, cookies, snacked, all factory made. didn't see any local made goods.not everything was priced. small produce section in front.few middle eastern items seen. items had too much fat content so i passed....."
"according to reviews, Spice House is a refurbished market from it's roots as a warehouse. clean, clear aislesofferings: spices, snacks, limited produce, rice, grains, frozen items, groceries, sauces,, chutneys, ready to eat samosa, incense, cooking ware, kitchen supplies, etc.buys: chana nuts (.99) 5 oz.-spicy mix of garbanza beans and peanuts fried in palm oil, etc.-expiration date is april, 2019.-addictive mix of chilis, salts, peppers, oils,notes:-associates too busy during chores to acknowledge patrons except to say "hi" when i walked in.-lots of groceries seen, mostly priced. main concern-products may be closed to sell by dates....."
"This tiny little gem has all the things you could possibly need to satisfy your craving for Indian snacks, or to restock your pantry to make Indian food. I don't cook Indian food often (I just don't have a chaperone nearby to teach me!!) but I am able to pick up spices and other items from here whenever I'm out. They really have everything and it's reasonably priced. There are specials from time to time to keep an eye out for the sale tags on the shelves. This is a super cramped store, so don't come in here expecting a specious Whole Foods. You will be sorely disappointed. This type of store reminds me of the kinds of stores you would find out in Taipei. Not a lot of space but the store owner wants to supply you with as many options as possible. I can get on board with that. The store is clean despite how cluttered it feels. Probably need to double check the dates on the items to make sure they didn't get forgotten in the big cram, but other than that, this store is pretty great! They accept mobile pay which is a plus."
"I'm really glad to see this store in the neighborhood. It's only been been there for a week or so and seems to have a lot of happy customers. The market down the road - a Safeway - was on the list for upgrading, but it didn't happen - so it's probably the scrawiest Safeway in the East Bay. This is a real good place, lots of interesting merch, fresh vegetables and fruits, good prices. They say they're going to be adding meat and fish soon. Check it out."
"Reba Jane S recently reviewed this small market. I am so glad she did. I went the next day. I suspect it would have taken me longer to notice the store was even there. The store has a bit of everything. The clerks are friendly and helpful.I was impressed with how clean and organized the store is. There is a great selection of frozen food for people like me who don't cook much but still want a tasty meal. They have a great selection of rice, grains, and spices. What impressed me was the produce. They have had the best okra. It is one of the few things I enjoy preparing."
"Step right into the hustle and bustle of Apna Bazar, a super market specializing in products popularly used in south Asian cuisine and hosting a prepared food station for sweets and snacks.Located in the Irvington district of Fremont, this huge shop is fronted by a huge parking lot. Although there aren't a lot of spots with shade, it's typically abundant in spaces. Some folks like me probably haven't been around this part of Fremont as it's located off a side road and hidden by the historic buildings lining the main road.Right from the front of the building, you'll often see fresh produce and on-sale items nicely displayed to entice you into the shop. Their produce found here and inside the store are pretty good in quality and price compared to other grocery stores. If you're looking to grab some fresh fruits and vegetables, this place is a great option, especially if you're in the area.Aside from the fresh food, there are aisles of snacks from India and other south Asian countries. A lot of them seemed to be loaded with spices and would satisfy any heat seekers out there. They also had a variety of frozen foods like ice cream (so many flavors!). Even if you're not into snacking, these aisles were just fun to explore the different snacks originating from across the globe.Within the store there were also household goods, seasonings (so many options and premade ones too!), and even items for festivities and religious events. It was an enjoyable experience perusing the wares and checking out what unique items were readily available just miles away from home.Once you've filled up your baskets, head over to the far aisle of the store and start queuing. They typically have multiple registers open and are well staffed but due to the popularity of this store, there can be a wait. We didn't understand the process at first and just stood in one of the aisles facing one of the registers but were quickly notified that we had to queue in the big line and be individually called to each register as they open. Needless to say, that last aisle gets packed but it does allow you to find any last minute items before you pay.Overall, I'd consider this store a go to for your grocery needs but also a top contender for specialty items for anything related to south Asian cuisine. If you haven't been, it's worth exploring. Maybe before or after a stop at the local coffee shop/bar down the road!"
"How lucky are we to have this wonderful supermarket just blocks away from our house. We've always loved Indian food but our favorite Indian restaurants are not close by.We've stopped into this place to pick up papadam wafers, spices, flours, dal, frozen samosas and more. The frozen section has lots of different items that are all beckoning to you. Since we are on a fixed income we can not splurge the way we would like to.You'll be amazed at the varieties of flour, dal, spices, teas, cooking tools and pans. There is a small produce section. What I love about this store is how CLEAN and ORGANIZED it is. Unlike other Indian stores (ie. like the ones in West Berkeley) that are dusty with products that seem dubiously old, everything at the Indian Supermarket is fresh and well taken care of.Recently I had a craving for DOSAS after watching a YouTube video with Mindy Kalling and upcoming Vice President Kamala Harris. It is very sweet and helpful. It gave me the courage to try my hand at it. Bought the ready-made dosa batter from one of the refrigerated cases:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xz7rNOAFkgEThey turned out great! So to summarize:Friendly helpful staffGreat store filled with what you need.Prices are affordable.Small parking lot in back of tore:Warning: Do not park in front of store. It is a BUS STOP!"
"I've become a regular at Bombay Spice House, despite the number of alternatives in the area. Their selection is comprehensive, the fresh samosas and chai are the perfect thing to warm you up on a cool winter's morning, and the owner is always SO HELPFUL. His warmth and friendliness is a big part of why I keep coming back for my Indian staples, even after moving out of the area - it really is a local business that I want to see continue to prosper.Side note: if you have a car you are precious about, park on the street. The parking spaces in the adjacent lot are quite tight and I've definitely winced at least once as an auntie has opened her door straight into my car."
"One of the older bigger Asian markets in the area. Same model as a 99 Ranch. And since it is around the 20 or so year old mark, it is grimier than new models of Asian markets. But when I do come here, I'm not really lingering around, I'm in and out.I mostly come for Asian snacks like seaweed wrapped rice crackers or garlic corn nuts. Of course, I also restock my Asian pantry as needed, as I can almost find any of that here, whether Chinese, Japanese, Filipino or Vietnamese. It's a good resource to have. For meats, I'll mostly gravitate towards their seafood. Not a polished marketed look at all, but rather very old world. So you kinda have to know what you're getting into. I can usually find a nice find here and usually at a better price than 99 Ranch. Their produce department has really cheap prices. But in those cheap prices there are a lot of produce either in iffy shape or on it's last legs. So you really have to scan and pick through stuff. The good is if you pick the right stuff, it'll be prime and ready to eat as soon as you get home. Don't want a hard/pink tomato, easily solved here. But you have to be willing to use it within a few days, can't hang on to it for a week or so. I have a system for this place, so it works for me. So for a convenience stop because it is close to home, this place gets utilized fairly often. When it comes to groceries, it doesn't have to be pretty for me to warrant its usefulness. #getingetout"
"Good grocery store to get some speciality south indian grocery. The food they have for purchase is also affordable and taste good. I always go here for fresh grated coconut."

I was in need of sumac and I knew this place had it the very first time I came to this market years ago as I was waiting for my pizza nearby. So I dropped by it again.L O C A T I O NRoyal Food Market is located on Washington Blvd. in this tiny plaza that has a couple of other restaurants. The parking situation is limited, but I've never had issues finding a place to park. They also have a couple of designated Royal Food Market only spots too which helps.I N S I D EIt's not a large market but if you're looking for specific Russian or eastern european/mediterranean type of spices or food, then definitely come here. They have their spices in the back. Some teas/coffees and drinks in the middle. I didn't take a close look at everything as I was there specifically for sumac which I got in a small pack for $2.99.S E R V I C EWhen I checked out, the person was cheery to me and said hi. And easily paid by card.O V E R A L LI don't typically pick up my sumac here, but in a pinch, it works as it was on my way home. It's a small convenience store set up that's definitely a family owned business which I do love supporting. So definitely check them out!

Himalayan Grocery is a small, clean, purveyors of premade food from Nepal, Tibet,. Definitely a 5 star meat place for me. I love halal meat and I can say I finally found my number 1 in east bay. Their front desk people are very friendly and no arrogance. Good job y'all.

I'm really glad there's a family-friendly community market here! There's a great selection of fresh produce (organic and not), snacks, frozen goods, pantry staples (incl. salt-free canned goods, Asian sauces, baking supplies, etc.), nonalcoholic drinks (incl. hop water), and household goods.I'm especially appreciative of the healthier snack options, international treats, and allergy friendly options including vegan baked goods, almond and cashew butters, and gluten free items. The store is really well stocked and clean, and even has little shopping carts for kids. So far it doesn't seem very crowded but that might change as more people discover how wonderful it is. I also appreciate the friendly staff and private parking lot.Welcome to the neighborhood Skyline Community Market! We're so glad you're here.

I'm so excited to have a legit Indian market in Hercules. I saw it a few days ago and today the Hubs wanted a "fun" lunch. KS Indian Grocery immediately came to mind. After my sons morning walk, this was the obvious spot to stop and make Hubs wishes come true! First, the heavenly incense...sandalwood! So relaxing and something to come back to purchase at another time. I knew what I wanted and headed to the freezer section. Everything was there. I'm posting a picture of everything I bought for our lunch. Service is courteous. The store looks clean and bright. Everything is easily accessible and visible. I really like this shop and I hope they do extremely well. Easy to find and lots of free parking.

I generally shop at the sunnyvale location for 2 reasons: it is cleaner and it has free chai all day every day. I come here for some grocery items & a quick lunch sometimes when i am getting my car washed at nearby Pacific Carwash. This place is alright but i feel some items cost more than the Sunnyvale location. Maybe i am wrong.....

"Supermercado La raza isn't as super as others. no taqueria, no panadena. they do have a meat/seafood section, a well stock mex/american beer section and some cheap pan mexicano and bakes(4/$1)buys:-modelo especial chelada ( w/ tomato & lime juice, salt)-2.99liked this better than the bud versioneven better than tecate with limes.didn't see microbrews, if any-pan mexicano (4/$1)ok, fresh tasting-helado ice bar, (cookies & cream) (.99)yummynotes:-didn't see parking lot, maybe in back-large store (eden market before), clean, -farmer's coffee available.-ok shopping for the area..."
"Love having an Indian grocery store super close to home, especially when I'm short on red lentils. This newish small shop has a ton of authentic staples ranging from legumes to spices to limited fresh veggies, fridge/freezer items. They even had frozen naan that was actually pretty good after baking! The guys working there provided great service and were very helpful in finding the right items. Look forward to frequenting this place more in the future!"
"River Nile Market is just a block from Oasis market. no prepped foods here, just preserved dates, cookies, chocolates, grains, exotic groceries. no alcohol.drink: "bavaria" apple alcohol-free malt beverage (1.75)-nice buzz to ittake outs:-friendly checkout-store is cramped, so browsing is a pain here.3.5 stars"
"Madras Groceries takes over Bengal Tiger's space. interior looks similar. has produce, frozen/refrigerated products, spices, organic items, groceries, snacks, etc. an eatery will open soon.buys: "Moong Dal" (35 oz. 8.99) fried split mung pea snack-per the 1 cup serving size, it contributes an healthy low daily % of salts, fats, sugar.-doesn't taste salty, may be addictive.lots of parking in the lot. located in the back corner of the commercial space."
"I was looking for cold smoked mackerel as my friend suggested I try it (as I am a fan of sashimi to tinned fish). This market came up on my search and I am pleasantly surprised of the amount of items offered here. Coming here on a Friday afternoon, parking was plentiful and the market wasn't all too busy. I was able to take my time to wander around the store to see the vast amount of varieties offered. Everything was very nicely organized and clean despite being a bit compacted with so many products, I love it! It was probably about 15minutes before I had my fill of light browsing and went to grab a mackerel. While I was checking out, I think it was the owner that I chatted up told me about the popularity of pistachio butter and the chocolate trend online. It's very nice to see that a shop still care about their local customers and he stopped allowing bulk purchases (probably a reseller?) so that everyone can have access to some. By the counter, there's a bunch of desserts that I could not resist. I do have a weird tree nut allergy and I appreciated the owner looking for nutrition facts to see the allergens. I was able try 2 kinds of turkish delights, kiwi and orange - it was a very delightful treat... a little on the heavier end, but definitely something I'd want to get again to share with others. Final Thoughts: I'll definitely be back to check out more of the jams, teas/coffees as well as other goods here! Another stop to add to my list of favorite markets now!"
"We always make it a habit to stop by this Mega Mart every time we find ourselves in Fremont. They have a pretty wide selection of Korean/Asian produce, household goods, meats, seafood, packaged foods and snacks (my favorite). They also have a small selection of fresh breads and packaged meals which often have a sale as well.Prices here are so much better than 99 Ranch (or Ranch 99), and we always find some great deals, or something new we haven't tried before. And inevitably, we always find ourselves walking out of here with half a shopping cart full of stuff even though there's only two of us at home. Situated next to Starbucks inside a small strip mall, there are plenty free parking available right out front. There is also a table with seating if you purchased some prepared food inside and want to eat it while it's still fresh."
"Mithapheap Market has been here for decades. i've been here before when it definitely was a Cambodian market. today, didn't see any Cambodian products but i didn't linger long. too cramped inside. not easy to social distance.the aisles can only fit one person at a time. store is crammed with noodles, dried products, canned/bottled eats, snacks, condiments, beverages, sauces..the prepped eats were all Vietnamese. small print: "Bai Da Naoup Tiep", (rice & coconut), "Map Bin" (cassava & coconut) 1.59. i like the cassava one better. lady asked for 3.50. paid it. didn't want to hang around to quibble price...-no sell by date, just "Daily Time 11:30 a.m. -4:00 p.m" printed-no mention of who made this. (probably an home kitchen).parking lot is stripped narrowly, not good for SUV's."
"Unprofessional store - rude front desk clerk - always speaking rudely - the lady doesn't care - speaking arrogantly and intimidatingly Ordered food through app, they did not charge up their laptop so didn't receive the order and refused to serve me until I paid out of pocket"
"Love that this place offers fresh tofu, noodles, and potsticker and wonton skins! They also have a nice variety of sauces and condiments- it's a good option to stop by if you need to grab something quick instead of making the trek to KP mart or Ranch 99"
"What a cool find in Alameda! We were walking back to the car after having dinner close by when we saw Aria Super Market & Bakery. Family wanted to check it out for various reasons. I was interested because I saw ice cream in the sign posted outside. Others in the family were interested because they saw coffee mentioned in the same sign. So we all stepped inside to check out the place.Right away, I spotted their bakery case. Mom saw their groceries at the back of the store so she headed that way. We tried their baklava, and it tasted wonderful!! My sister and brother n'law were fans of the coffee. Also bought some snacks from their market. They carry a diverse selection of European grocery products. I bought a couple of candies to try later.Service was excellent!! If we lived in the area, then I'm sure we would be regulars at Aria Super Market & Bakery. Definitely check this place out Yelpers!!"
"Zam Zam Halal Supermarket & Restaurant is the last business open in what was once a busy commercial strip. The bowling alley across is closed. The parking area is in poor condition. All along Fremont Blvd. There have been new tall buildings built with commercial units on the ground floor. No doubt when Zam closes, the whole lot will be rebuilt.Zam looks cramped and small. The eatery only has biryani on the menu. There are many kinds of Afghan bakes available. The halal meat market is at the far right side. In front are produce...the refrigerated items didn't have pricing. Surprised to see won ton wraps and egg rolls skins available. In front of the 'fridge are several columns of grocery items. Some unpriced. The checkout counter doesn't use a scanner. Buys: Namai Classic Chai tea (4.99) 10 aluminum tubes-price sticker obscured description, got unsweetened one with no cardamon, just tea and powder milk.-all variants aren't shelved together.-lst cup brewed didn't taste like the versions i usually get in eateries. 1st time buying instant Chai tea mix.*wouldn't buy this version again."
"Always filling my Japanese delights cravings. This is a small little market wreath and go in and find your Japanese canned goods. Also A wonderful selection of packaged soups noodles bags of rice all the things that you would need to complete your asian kitchen. That was have a nice collection of beer and saki. The refrigerator section keeps a lot of fresh produce that you would find good for whatever meals you're going to prepare from there and also a large. Selection of bento lunches which we weren't in there to get. We are no strangers to their bentos. We made our purchases and we're out the door pretty quickly. They have a lot of people working there so there's no long preach of time waiting in line. We've been going there for some time and it's a good place locally to find what you're looking for from Japan."
"My friend took me here for dinner after work and it did not disappoint! The food smelled delicious upon entering the location and I loved the fact that you can purchase items in the market section. We arrived at a good time and were able to sit outside (late summer 2024). Within 15 minutes the restaurant was packed and you know that's a good sign!!! I ordered the bulgogi bento box and portion was a good size. My friend got the black soybean with vegetable sauce and udon. She had enough for two meals! Everything was delicious and I will be coming back!"
"Fiji + Indian Supermarket, smell of fresh lit incense near the produce section when you walk in and then head to the freezer section for lamb bangers and puri water right next to it. Love the cool mix of Islander and Indian stuff and it's definitely biased more toward Indian/Paki goods like the other Fiji/Indian places around here.Came with my brother and son while exploring Hayward a couple weekends ago. I couldn't get the "main" door on the side to open but the one in the back of the building was fine. It's one of the few places that carry Timtams and if you've never had these Aussie snacks you are in for a sweet and crunchy surprise.Picked up some instant Tomato Noodles, the Indian artificial Tomato flavor on chips is something I love, it's more like a tomato based seasoning and less of a pure tomato taste.4 stars for sure for the very cool lady working here, I was trying to find a Soan Papdi that had a less harsh ginger/cardamom flavor and I told her I forgot the name of the one I had but it was a blue box. She knew exactly what I was talking about and helped pull a "rare" Pakistan made Soan that had a less strong cardamom taste. Still prefer the Indian one as the individual cups keep it fresher and its more light and airy."
"Their market expanded! It's huge now! I've been coming here since it was *only* a market in a warehouse a few blocks away, and now it's a mini-empire. Great spot to come for Indian produce or any sort of Indian snacks, candy, etc. It's attached to the fantastic restaurant, so this place is very worth a trip."
"Until H Mart opens in the Tri-Valley, Koreana Market in Oakland is the best Korean Market closest to me. Oakland right now is the scariest city in California and coming here takes some planning. To avoid being a victim of crime, I get up early and get here between 8 & 9 am before all the criminals and Zombies come out. The parking lot and store is patrolled by some big security guards. When you come early parking in the front lot is easy. Koreana Market is well stocked with good quality meats, live seafood and produce. I like their shabu and KBBQ cuts of meats. Another plus is their staff are friendly and helpful. I just wish the location was closer and not in downtown Oakland."
"Had such a pleasant experience here. I looked everywhere around Castro Valley for fenugreek leaves and dried limes, and eventually found this place. It has allll the Sadaf spices, great Afghan and Armenian products-lebne, feta cheese, lavash, grape leaves, teas, olives, sweets! Not only did they have Greta products, but the man who was working was so incredibly kind. I will definitely come back :)"
"I visited on a Tuesday afternoon around 1PM and found parking to be super difficult. Eventually found a meter spot after circling for 20 ish minutes. Funny enough, two cop cars were near, reporting a broken in car. I walked in and the place seemed neat and clean. It's a simple space, a openshelf refrigerator with sushi, a closed fridge with drink and a few shelves with Japanese snacks. There were about two other people purchasing food while I was there. The selection of sushi was limited and had mostly basics, tuna and salmon, one of them had a variety but was a bit more pricier. I grabbed:[Salmon avocado roll $8.50]3/5 The sushi roll was quite bland. Most of the time, you can taste the rice vinegar, this one tasted very plain. [Spicy salmon roll $8.95 I think]4/5This was a bit more flavorful since it was spicy salmonOverall, the price is great for sushi, but I found the rolls lacking in flavor. Which a simple roll should have some distinct flavors. After a dunk in soy sauce and Wasabi it was better. In addition, the cashier seemed displeased that I didn't tip more than 15%, when it's mostly self service. I grab my own food, put my own food in my own bag, and grab my own utensils and soy sauce. Not sure what I'm tipping for when it's a grab and go shop. Probably wouldn't come again, the parking was just too difficult. The sushi was sub par. Cute shop though!"
"New Indian Market opened where a liquor store was. small Indian grocery with the usual amenities: produce, fresh meats, condiments, rice, groceries, frozen foods, etc. didn't see any prepped foods.it's in the same location as a Walgreens. parking can be trying at times. didn't see any pricing on any items. inventory are the usual items. didn't see anything extraordinary. just one cashier station which wasn't attended but a server came quickly when i was present.buys: chana dal , 14 oz (3.89)-the usual roasted lentils, got non spicy this time. the spicy one had a much more calories. usual crunchiness with mostly fiber, little salt, sugar, fats.take outs:-seems i was here years ago. it may be bigger now. the previous review didn't pop up at the top as usual. strange..."
"Indian grocery in strip mall near OMG tea & Shell gas station. Parking spaces are tiny but usually not full.I don't shop here often, but when I've come it's been good. Samosas were quite tasty & Inexpensive. I've bought some veggies here & cooked same day were good. I needed decor for a Thai event- no Thai groceries in town but the Indian flower garlands looked perfect.I've bought some pre made sauces & food here. I think if they put effort into labeling more or providing recipes or tips in English, clueless people like me would love to buy more things to try."
"Neatest market ever. It is seriously impressive how clean and organized Coco's market is. Every item on a shelf is aligned. Very slice of meat is squarely separated. They have a pretty good selection of basic produce plus specialty Hispanic ingredients such as spices, snacks, meats, and dairy products. Prices are pretty good value and the selection is good enough for not only specialty, but regular shopping. Service was super friendly. If I lived closer, this would be my go to market. I'll definitely stop by whenever in Fremont. Definitely check it out and support such a cool business."
"Went to 3j's oriental market a couple weeks ago to get food for a family party! What a long line! No air conditioning either!Lots of great choices for food to go and for parties"
"New Indian Grocery and Cafe along Jackson thru Hayward to Highway 92/880. This new place took over Crossroads International Market which has since re-located to Castro Valley.Grocery has a variety of spices, grocery, frozen items, small produce with a cafe. I pass this area often so decided to try some food from their cafe...food is from their steam table but biryani is made to order. Ordered the following: :: Samosa - fried pastry with spiced potato and peas - pastry was a little thinner than I've had and not quite as crispy - still delicious 3.5:5 :: Vegetable Biryani - cauliflower, potato, carrots, paneer - flavorful and fragrant. Slightly different taste than I'm familiar with (couldn't pinpoint) but it's as tasty - 4/5 :: Curry Chicken from the steam table - mixture of white and dark meat - delicious 4/5 Definitely glad I tried as I love Indian food and have tried many in Berkeley/Hayward/Fremont. I was hoping to get some lamb/goat biryani but it was mentioned they didn't have any that day. The lady that assisted me was friendly, helpful and answered questions. With so many interesting items I mentioned she should offfer cooking demos for the non-natives. if I knew how to use the ingredients I'd definitely shop there. Especially, to make some of my fave Indian desserts: carrot halwa and gulab jamun :)Private lot available for parking"
