Gerald R. "BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONSeveral years ago I ate at La Marcha Tapas Bar at Berkeley. I really enjoyed my time at La Marcha while eating Spanish cuisine. Last year my cousin used this catering vendor for his wife's birthday. I was excited to find out that this catering vendor is owned by the same group that owns La Marcha. Some of items served that January night of last year were ham croquette, chicken empanada, potato ball, Brussels sprout, and Moroccan chicken. I was interested in the two kinds of paella: paella mixta and paella tres cerditos. My only time at La Marcha I had paella but not those two paella dishes. At my cousin's backyard there were two paella pans. The smell of the paella excited me with anticipation. The birthday dinner was ready when both the paella dishes were cooked. I noticed the paellas were the only dishes cooked on site; the rest of the items were pre-cooked. Granted I understand cooking everything on site is an impossible task as the main feature is the paella. The two non-paella dishes I like were the Brussels sprout and Moroccan chicken. The two paella dishes were flavorful. When it comes to catering the concern is throughout the night the food might get cold if it is not served in chafer dish. That was the case with food served that night as there was no chafer dishes to keep the food warm.Even though I enjoyed the food from Nora Spanish Cuisine - Paella & Tapas Catering I prefer hot, fresh dishes from La Marcha Tapas Bar."

The crust is crumbly yet dense, the middle section is thick and light at the same time, and the topping is smooth creamy perfection. It's so good, we had to dig into it as soon as we got our hands on it and plan to revisit for breakfast! Thank you Maple. We will be back for more!!"

Linda B. "There are many unique and exquisitely delicious dishes to choose from. You will see many recommendations in the reviews. The braised beef sliders were outrageously good. All the one bite passed trays were simply perfect.Beyond the beautifully presented and delicious food, the service was outstanding. I had refused further wine, so after a few minutes of seeing me sitting without a drink, a waiter came and offered me a glass of sparkling water with lemon which I happily accepted. I appreciated this solicitous behavior. The home was kept spotlessly clean, yet no-one walked away with your wine glass if you left it for a second or two. It was much appreciated that they were mindful of not wasting the host's fine wines. The kitchen was kept neat and clean as they worked and the staff was very friendly. You can't do better than Cardel Catering!"

Kristine F. "My friends recently had their wedding here and the scenery definitely gave me wine country vibes. The place itself is so cute and has all the small town feels. It's right across from the Sunol train station parking lot, which we were allowed to park at for the occasion. The ceremony took place outdoors under a wooden frame structure with removal plastic tarp "windows" and both chandeliers + Parisian style string lights floating overhead. There's a large LOVE wall decor to the left with mini plaques engraved with couple names that were married on-site. I was amazed at the plentiful Cocktail Hour eats & drinks! Much needed sustenance in the form of refilled fruit, veggie, and cheese platters with crackers & baguette slices. What surprised me was the warm artichoke dip and wait staff walked around offering stuffed mushrooms, crab cakes, and bruschetta to the guests! Staff was so sweet, especially the Latina mama with a smile on her face the whole event. The bride & groom treated us to an open bar so my friend and I got some Moscow Mules to sip on. Outside the reception area is so cute with a few swing seats to sit on!The reception was held indoors with a full hardwood floor for dancing, plus room for the bar, dessert staging, and even photo booth option to the left. The fresh focaccia slices and scoop of butter at each place setting was soo good! Caesar salad came around shortly after being seated. Dinner was a choice of steak, chicken, salmon, or veggie patty on a bed of mashed potatoes and asparagus. I had the steak, which seemed like a prime rib cut. Mighty tender and tasty. Since the neighborhood is typically quiet, the party ended at 10pm. We had a great time and wish the newlyweds all the happiness in the world. Thanks, Casa Bella!"

Monica D. "SIX+ STARS!!! ABSOLUTELY THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!I live in Southern California, sadly, and every year I help organize a dinner event for the alumni of a UC Berkeley student organization. With an ever-changing budget, number of attendees, and venue each year, it can become quite the hazy mishmash especially since I'm not from the Bay Area. This year I left it up to one of the amazing young leaders of the aforementioned student group, and she THANKFULLY chose Joanne's catering service to help us out this year.As event planning goes, I'm all about the logistics: I've been gathering these folks together for YEARS, and I gladly take on the responsibility of doing so. However, I'm never one for planning details like food and beverage, and Joanne and her team blissfully took gracious care of all of us.All while staying within our somewhat-unreasonable-but-still-functional budget, Joanne designed a PERFECT dinner buffet menu for us, including an absolutely DELICIOUS salmon that still makes my mouth water recalling it right now. Aside from the incredible food, she and her staff were professional, efficient, extremely patient, and even packed up our leftovers to take back home with us.At the end of the event, all the alums (and even some of the lucky college kids who got to sample our leftovers, natch) raved about how awesome the food was. I am 100% willing to go with Joanne's services again next year, provided that we can find another suitable venue.THANK YOU SO MUCH JOANNE AND THE JGOURMET CATERING TEAM for orchestrating such a lovely, memorable, and YUMMY event for us!"

Karen W. "My friend had a Celebration of Life for his wife and he decided to hold it here as they had attended another event at this venue. There is a private room which is in the same building as the sports bar where they serve food and that day, there was a big 49'rs game and there were plenty of customers watching the several big screen tvs around the room. The venue has free parking. The private room was a bit drafty and needs a new coat of paint but it was a good place to hold this event. The private room where the Celebration of Life was just perfect for the event and this was the first time I have been to a venue for a Celebration of Life, rather than at a church. The event started with the buffet lunch, which consisted of mashed potatoes, bread, salad, mixed vegetables, beef and chicken. The food was plentiful and filling, however the beef was a bit on the chewy side even though it was medium rare. Coffee, iced tea, canned soda and hot tea were also available and a rich chocolate cake with raspberry filling was served for dessert. We didn't come here for the food but if you want to host an event here, the grounds are lovely and service is friendly."

Emily J. "We attended a wedding here in late October. As I mentioned in my review of the tasting room, Wente is a great event space. We arrived early and walked from the parking lot to the tasting room. They were doing construction in their parking lot but had a convenient shuttle helping to transport people who wanted a ride. They were also available at the end of the evening. Prior to the ceremony, we were able to grab a glass of wine at the tasting room to enjoy. The ceremony was outside and I'm glad that the weather behaved and allowed for us to enjoy the cool evening with a beautiful backdrop. The only downside was that although there was a Wente staff person at the road located behind the wedding guests, a few trucks still drove through and made it difficult to hear everything. Very distracting. After the ceremony we moved into a room for drinks and appetizers. The room is in the same building as the tasting room. It was spacious with a nice old world winery ambiance. They had both buffet and passed appetizers. The staff were attentive and gracious and there seemed to be plenty of food to go around. Dinner and dancing were in a large tent just outside the tasting room and next to the ceremony location. I'm not always a fan of event tents but this one was really nice and I kind of forgot about it once we were inside. I was very pleased with our plated dinner - the risotto was quite delicious, as was the starter salad. The staff were, again, very attentive with drinks and food. Just something to be aware of, it is a bit of a walk from the ceremony/reception area to the bathrooms near the tasting room. Overall, I really enjoyed attending an event here and loved taking photos both inside and out."

Not in a bad way but decent food that was consistent and not lacking in any departments..Today I was hanging with my bro and we happened to come grab food here. Finally I can put a face to the place. Firstly parking can be difficult as it's on 23rd street which is a main street in Richmond, and it's a 1 way street here. We lucked out today and walked inside, pretty clean and well decorated. Authentic Mexican as it gets from the food to the workers and even down to the patrons. After seeing the menu I decided to really test their skill by getting their sopes and a taco. Not everybody makes sopes the right way. I personally prefer light, soft and fluffy sope base but many places have the dry, crispy dark sopes base. This business actually has it somewhere in between but more so crunchy yet I didnt have a bite that I didn't agree with. The al pastor taco wasn't something I'd mention in my top 5 but it still holds its own amongst competitors. Pricing was adequate, maybe even cheap compared to some places. I only saw 1 worker who took our order and brought it out in a realistic wait time duration so as far as customer service I can only judge by him, which was A1. Glad they survived this far in the pandemic era and hope to have them around for a long time. Definitely in my rotation as I'll try more less conventional items on the menu."

Light bite dinner and lunch tomorrow.Huge fan of the spam comes with making an avocado, which was a nice surprise. I didn't read the details of the menu so it felt extra fancy. Braised pork taco was a little oily and I wish there was just a smidge more spice to it had some bites with flavor and some kind of lacking and the pork bowl was a nice size and comes with wider brown rice and the kimchi mixture. I put a couple dabs of hot sauce on it and took a few bites and for me that made it. It was good by itself too. I just needed a kick of spice tonight.Definitely looking forward to checking them out again and exploring more of the menu options ."

The hostess, however, was kind enough to seat us at a window counter with hardly enough room for our plates.Hey, I'm not complaining. We were happy just perusing all their Land and Sea options and decided to wear our life vests as we focused on the seafood. In fact, Jamie ordered the $38 3-Way Seafood Combo with Snapper, Prawns & Oyster. It came in hefty deep-fried chunks with sides of their house specialties Crack & Cheese and Garlicky Green Beans (photo: https://yelp.to/TvXXtDIqhy). It was crunchy-good, and portion size was not an issue especially if you're obsessed with Southern-fried gluttony.I went with the $40 Blackened Prawns over Garlic Noodles. There were eight small garlic-freckled prawns on two skewers laid on top of a huge mound of thick noodles saturated in butter and garlic (photo: https://yelp.to/mn6TZ5q9ce). Honestly the carbs overwhelmed me, and there was no way I could make much of a dent into that pasta bowl. At the same time, the prawns were pretty flavorful. Ann T. "Hearing that this place is rank 14 among the top 100 burgers in America, as a burger enjoyer, we had to stop by!They do have a unique approach to their burgers that they make in house never frozen meats and veggies. When we went, they only had take out but there were some tables outside for us to enjoy our lunch. The service was friendly and efficient. We got the:1) Beef Bear Bitez Burger:-When I saw this burger I was IMMEDIATELY reminded of a pâté chaud or as Vietnamemes would know it as, bánh pâté sô except with sesame seeds on top.-The burger meat inside was nicely seasoned and flavored. It came out piping hot and fresh. A solid burger.-My only caveat is that I can ONLY compare this to a pâté chaud and it makes me wish that the pastry part was a bit more flaky and crispy and that the meat inside was just a bit more moist.-I can see the vision and I feel like if the burger approached this pinnacle of comparison in my mind then I would have fallen head over heels in love as I love all meat carb combos like this.2) Potato Salad:-It's definitely a bit more onion tasting and a bit more liquid-y than the thick potato salad that I'm used to, but it's not bad.-Definitely added another layer of flavor to enjoy along with our burger.-Not too sour or mayo tasting. The potatoes had the perfect texture and there was a good crunch from the onions as well. I don't mind stopping by again and trying their other burgers."

I'd say it represented a good vairety of items across the menu, but none really pleased.I was especially looking forward to the momos, but the dumpling skin was so thick it was almost doughy, and they were so packed with filling, which made them super heavy vs an appetizer. The chicken curry had potential, but the chicken itself was overcooked and very dried out. I barely ate it. The curry - not so bad. The noodle and rice bowls were stark opposites. The noodle bowl was flaming with spice - so much so that the heat was taking away from the flavors. In contrast, the rice was colorful and looked great, but had very little flavor.Overall, portion sizes were large, so that was a plus, but the food was just meh and a departure from other Himalayan flld we've tried. The service was too, bartending, setup, decoration, etc. The owner Deborah was there to help with the day and it went as smooth as possible and we couldn't be happier with how the day went and much thanks to them. The reason why four stars and not five was because of the challenges we had before the event. Communication was usually very difficult, delayed or confusing.
