Was walking around Murphy street on Sunday looking for a place to eat and saw people seated outside Burma Taste. Dishes looked amazing so decided to try it. Just Ama-jing! 5 stars for me ! My only regret was my stomach was not big enough to try more yummy items but I'll definitely be coming back and do a part II review. Samosas 4/5There were still stayed warm even sitting out side slightly chilly weather. Perfect balance of spiced potatos and peas. Tea leaf salad 5/5Wanted my friend to try for the first time and was blown away. Fresh tea leaves w garlic and elements of crunch -peanut, sesame seeds and lime juice. Ama-jing!Fish chowder soup 5/5Took a gamble on this one and turned out epic! Thin vermicelli noodles in a savory broth w fish n veggies. Not overpowered fish taste and well balanced. Loved the side of tumeric crisps and veggies you can drop into the soup to amplify the textures. Interior: 5/5Cozy indoor and outdoor seating.wooden seat indoors w benches against the walls. Perfect date spot and food pics are IG worthy. Price: 4/5Prices are good for the Murphy street area and they are offering a rare food experience not easily duplicated .Totally worth it !Service: 4/5Good service ..waited about 15 mins after the order and salad came out first, then the soup and samosas. We had food left over gave us boxes but no bag. Parking Tip*Large parking lot across the street but was completely full on Sunday afternoon. We had to drive around a bit but found a secret parking lot behind the restaurant with some open spots . ( Corner of Evelyn and S. Sunnyvale.) Google" EV gocharging lot "

We've been wanting to go to this place for a while, and last night we finally did! We went on a Saturday night and there was no wait for us which was nice. We got the samosas, the chicken curry, and the fiery tofu with lamb and overall enjoyed everything! The samosas were pretty big, with a good amount of filling and a very crispy exterior. The chicken curry was good, nice flavor on the curry and the chicken was very tender and juicy. I also loved the fiery tofu with lamb! The tofu itself had a nice chewy texture, the lamb was cooked very well and the sauce had a good amount of spice without being overwhelming. I'd definitely come back!

Great option! I'm a regular at Burma Choice in San Jose so I was happy to find out that Burma Taste served as the blueprint for the San Jose location. My recommendations:Nan Gyi Thoke - mild coconut sauce that is very smooth. I like to ask for spice to be added at medium level. Honey Glazed Walnut Shrimp - Great for sharing and not too sweet.Samosas - Delicious. Crunchy in the outside and good level of seasonings. The accompanying sauce has a light sweetness. Service: Wait staff was very attentive and the food came out quickly. Ambiance: Warmly lit cozy vibes. It was busy, but there was plenty of seating on a Friday night for dinner.

Lunch with friends! Ordered a few dishes to share and each one was very full flavored. I wanted to keep eating even though I was full! It was a nice spacious restaurant with space to fit our party of 15. Definitely a family style restaurant and options for individual eating which some in our group decided to do. Service was great filled our waters and asked how we are doing. I would come back again food was so delicious I'm thinking about it again!

This place has been on our list of places to try for some time, but it wasn't until this evening that we finally made it.After enjoying the Caltrain holiday train festivities nearby, we strolled on over and arrived a little over an hour before closing. The restaurant was not busy at all and we got seated right away and considered our options on the menu. As we were a small group we didn't order a lot of items tonight, and it was a bit agonizing deciding what to get because there are many interesting dishes to choose from.We feasted on the following:Tea leaf salad - the first time I ever had this, at a restaurant up in Belmont, I didn't like it. But we had heard that Burma Taste does this well. Their version consists of romaine lettuce with a fermented green tea paste and a variety of crunchy elements, with just a little bit of jalapeno to give it a bit of heat. I rather liked this quite a bit, it probably could have used a little more of the green tea flavor.Mango shrimp - the shrimp was expertly cooked, and the mango pieces were tender and sweet, but not cloyingly so.Sesame tofu - battered and fried cubes of tofu in a sweet sesame sauce. Overall very good, probably could have used a little of of spice to balance the sweetness. We also got an order of coconut rice and biryani rice, both of which had good flavor though the biryani probably wasn't the right pairing for our dishes. I expected the biryani rice to be a little spicy, but it actually wasn't.A note about the seafood dishes: you have a choice of either shrimp or swai. Personally, I don't find swai to be an especially flavorful fish, so I was a little disappointed that this was the only option. But I might give it a try here, since it's the seasonings that I'd be tasting, and swai does actually have a decent flaky texture.Prices were okay, maybe just a little on the higher side but the portions were fairly generous. Our final tally for the three dishes, two servings of rice, and one beer was about $90 including tip. Service was prompt and attentive, and our food came out very quickly.Definitely a good first experience. I'm looking forward to trying other things on future visits.

Great food, very very different from the usual fare I try. My first time at this Burmese restaurant. Our group of 4 did mostly small plates and our and favorite picks were the tea salad, Samosa soup, sweet chilli tofu and the lettuce wraps. For dessert we tried the fried banana jackfruit, and the sticky black rice....both served with ice cream. All of these were lip smacking good. They have a full bar as well and the cocktails were superb...esp the passionfruit martini! Clean and nice ambience, friendly service, parking was easy and a lot of vegetarian options. Definitely try if you are on the Murphy downtown at Sunnyvale.

Came here for another weekday date night! Like last time, the tea leaf salad was solid. I tried their mohinga, my favorite Burmese dish, and it didn't disappoint! Lastly, we got the shan tofu which was really oily. It would have been delicious with the sweet spicy sauce but the greasiness was too much. The plate actually had oil pooling at the bottom. I wish they let the tofu sit on paper towels before serving. No wait on a Tuesday evening. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Though indoor seating tended to get kind of noisy and outdoor seating didn't always get attention.

Tea leaf salad is bombGreat crunch and a fun combination of textures. Other food is great as well. Great place to get some Burmese food. Their dishes are well spiced but not overpowering. Meat is generous in portion and tender. Only qualm is that rice doesn't come with the dishes and you gotta pay extra ($2.50 for a small bowl?)
