Burma Bites is worth a try! I ordered the Quesaplatha Birria and Mini Potato Samusas! Highly recommended the Quesaplatha Birria! It's Griddled Indian flatbread with Oaxacan cheese and curried barbacoa. Served with burmese beef curry consomme. Loved the consomme! The Mini Potato Samusas was very good! Flaky indian pastry filled with peas and spiced potato, and served with a Cucumber Mint Raita. The cashier was very helpful, I believe his name was Fernando. Shout out to the cooks as well!

Burma Bites is such a sweet addition to the Temescal area in Oakland. I'm a huge fan of Burma Superstar and Burmese food, but now with baby in tow, I just don't have the time like I used to for sit-down meals that aren't pre-planned :) Burma Bites hits all the marks for the grab & go diner, or just one that may need outdoor seating with a stroller and eco-friendly to-go boxes just in case it's literally "go" time, ha. I love the Burma Bites vibe ~ Burmese street food mixed with the classics from Burma Superstar. And I hear there's a secret menu? Staff is super friendly and helpful, even though I couldn't stray too far from what I love and miss..the tea leaf salad. My husband was a bit more adventurous and ordered something unique and fun called the "Burmarito" which is Burmese curry braised beef brisket (cooked in a banana leaf) with Coconut Tea Leaf Rice, and a super yummy salsa/side dipping sauce wrapped in a tortilla. We also ordered a coconut curry chicken bowl with coconut rice to-go for later. No disappointments, everything hit the mark. There was a special going on if for mini samusas if you spent a specific amount ~ a super fun surprise to add to our spread. All in all, Burma Bites is perfect for those crunched on time but still want a quick meal that meets value with authenticity & flavor. I have my eye on a few other menu offerings like the Burmese Fried Chicken Sandwich and the Quesaplatha (similar to a quesadilla but using roti platha). Yum! Next time.

My bf and I made a pit stop here during date night in Temescal. The surrounding area is a very fun place to walk around and Burma is right next to North Star; they have a joint patio area right outside which makes it perfect for casual dining. We got the Platha & Dip which tasted amazing. The chicken was soft and tender and the Platha has such a unique texture that went great with the curry dip. The service was very quick.

They vastly changed the menu, which isn't a problem itself, I assume they were cannibalizing business from Burma Superstar, but the new food is awful. I ordered the shrimp kebat with coconut rice, the shrimp taste burnt and if it weren't for the one forkful of rice I got with the slightest hint of coconut, I swore they sent plain rice - how do you mess of the damn coconut rice? They don't have the chicken coconut curry for the paratha and you can no longer get the tea leaf salad. So much of their menu is garbage you can get at any bar food/burger spot, sad to see they're not really a smaller portion Burmese option.

My friend and I came here to celebrate her birthday and we didn't realize it was outdoor dining and take out only and it was a cold rainy day but luckily their outdoor dining was covered so we didn't get wet. We ordered the mango lassi, vegetable semusas, eggplant and tea leaf salad to share. All were tasty and delicious. Parking wasn't a problem and I was lucky to get a space near the post office. If I come here again, it will be on a warm day! Otherwise, since this is part of the Burma Superstar family, we'd head over to the indoor dining of Burma Superstar but I just read that the one 2 blocks away is temporarily closed.

I'm a creature of habit and usually order the same things. The Tea leaf salad is lovely. The green beans are good. Popcorn chicken is good. My partner loves the fiery noodles. I wish some of the meat dishes had more vegetables in them.

Good not great. Tea leaf salad was good but a little too fishy IMO. Palatha was so chewy it was kinda tough. Chicken curry was good but not great. Nothing wrong with this spot but not the top of my list.

I've been a fan of Burma Superstar for years. Thought I'd give Burma Bites a go (delivery due to a broken ankle) for myself and neighbor. The mini samosa's were very tasty with a perfect level of spice (and such a great size!). The Roti w sauce was a bit rubbery, but I still can never resist ordering roti. Green Beans bowl with coconut rice was very tasty, the level the beans were cooked left a delightful crunch to the beans...but I would have loved a bit more spicy factor. Now for the chicken curry bowl w coconut rice. Disappointing. I ordered "spicy", it wasn't at all. At least I have the spices and saracha to fix the utter blandness of the chicken at home. It was very moist, but no actual curry sauce to be seen. Unfortunately I found the entire bowl very bland, and will not order again.I do love the perfect cooked 3 pieces of broccoli in the bowls. Nice and crunchy, cooked to my loved level of doneness. For the price at Burma Bites, I think I would be better off sticking w Burma Star where I've loved every dish I've ordered.

First time trying this place. We had a DoorDash delivery of 4 entrees: 2 orders of sesame chicken (not good), curry chicken (just ok) and garlic noodles (meh... I have definitely had better). The entrees came with rice and 3 pieces of broccoli for about $74.00, expensive for what we got. The sesame chicken was definitely not "lightly battered"-- if that's what you're expecting. It was over battered, over fried AND CHEWY! I had to spit a piece out into a napkin because it was not breaking down after being chewed for a normal amount of time. :( The noodles were meh and my partner liked his curry. I won't be ordering the sesame chicken ever again. I don't think I'll be back.
