@ Neptune Plaza650 Central Ave Ste BAlameda, CA 94501Recently, I was at the Bonfare Market at West Alameda's Neptune Plaza. I decided to try the "Chicken King" brand of fried chicken. Their previous brand was Krispy Krunchy Chicken (KKC). The menu offered various meal combos. I went with 3-pcs a la Carte, and a buttery biscuit. Price just over $8.00 total. ( 2 whole wings, 1 leg). How was it? Chicken King is crispy and crunchy, and not really salty. Some might say it has no flavor. So you'll need hot sauce. But it has a mild flavor, with a little spicy kick. But it's mild compared to Popeye's. But if you have a craving for something crispy and crunchy, Chicken King can help you. Bonfare had two cashiers working during the lunch hour, so the line moved pretty quick. Lots of students from nearby schools and workers stop here. The market has plenty of drink choices and snacks to go with your chicken. Also in Neptune Plaza, you'll find Lee's Donuts, Rang Dong Vietnamese Food, and a Laundromat. O'Reilly's Auto Parts is across the street. Off street parking lot.

Besides selling typical convenience store supplies (drinks, snacks, minor household items, lotto tickets etc) this Bonfare Market also makes fried chicken. While buying some lotto tickets I decided to try a 2 piece combo of their fried chicken (comes with a small lightly glazed, buttermilk biscuit). Fried chicken was surprisingly really crispy and crunchy and not dry inside. Though it doesn't have all the spices and seasonings compared to KFC, there was a bit of kick to the batter (slightly salty too but not too much) and it seemed the meat was brined with salt and a little bit of chili flavor/oil. It was a decent deal at under $6 too.Located at the T-intersection of Webster St and Central Ave with plenty of parking.

Decent market for this area of Alameda!!I used to come in here often, long ago, when I used to play basketball at nearby Washington Park.Markets always come with market prices, so I usually just get something to drink. Parking isn't too bad in this plaza as this market is the main draw here. But it's very well stocked, ok service as far as I could tell!!

I just went into this market to redeem my winnings from a powerball ticket and was met with the most incompetent, rude person that I have ever dealt with at this market. My winning ticket was for $4 and so I asked her for 4 Super Lotto tickets($1 each) instead of the cash. I then gave her a $20 bill and asked for 10 Powerball tickets($2 each). She clearly didn't bother to listen because she ends up giving me one Super Lotto ticket($1 total) and 5 powerball tickets ($10 total). When I tried to explain what I asked for versus what she gave me, she became agitated and short with me. She forgot that I am owed $4 on top of the $20 I gave her so she starts saying that I am wrong and that I cannot get my 3 Super Lotto tickets and my 5 Powerball tickets because I have already $9 worth of tickets and it won't add up with my $20 in her hand. Again, she clearly forgot about the $4 winnings I had. The guys who I always deal with had to come in and fix it because she didn't want to be helpful. She wanted to argue and be abrasive and combative. She probably would've tried to physically fight me if she wasn't working. Once I got what I asked for from the guys who know what there doing, she continued to sat that I was wrong all along and as I left she yells at me, "YOU'RE NOT GOING TO WIN ANYWAYS!!" Completely unnecessary and unprofessional! I will take my business elsewhere. That lady shouldn't be interacting with customers if she doesn't want to listen and be combative once someone tries to get what they actually asked for. My photo shows her purposely hiding from my camera. If I was so wrong and she was so right, then why hide!?

Zero today. I have always liked coming here. Perusing the aisles and finding a treat at a counter on a lovely day when you wanna walk around Park street with your family, or a friend. But today - that changed. A very grumpy white guy decided to project his racism onto a sweet Black woman and this is not ok. Saying "you people" about a whole entire race is not ok. I work in customer service I get what that's like but to do this to someone no matter the setting is never ok.

Saving myself the experience based on word of mouth. One of the kindest people I know was mistreated and racially profiled in your store today. It was disheartening to hear. I am alerting my family and friends and will not be visiting your establishment. The words of the cashier were powerful... "Tell who you want, I don't care... "You People" always do this, tell Bonfair if you want... well guess what, this only the beginning prior to the next Chamber of Commerce gathering... Being rude is bad enough but racially insulting and degrading a female speaks volumes.... The elderly woman requested clarity about the "green" that was being spent with your business and it was made into a black issue for no reason... so unfortunate.

Date: 8/22/2015 Time: 1:00 PM 72° SunnyBonfare Market had a grand opening event under new management today. The correct address is 650 Central Avenue, Suite H; not Suite B. The business is also family-owned.The market is okay for convenience only. The prices are higher for grocery items than chain supermarkets (Safeway, Nob Hill, Lucky). The only good deal that they had was a large pepperoni pizza for $5.99. The pizza was edible. At least the crust did not taste like cardboard...lol. Because of their grand opening, they were holding a raffle for free gifts (tee shirts, ice buckets, pizza certificates, bottles of wine, a wall clock) about every 15 minutes. The manager/owner was even handing out a free slice of pepperoni pizza to everybody standing around.Return trip? Probably for the pepperoni pizza at the price of $5.99, plus tax, when I don't feel like cooking.

Not a fan here because the prices are expensive and the person behind the counter was not friendly. No greeting or anything. There were quite a few people in line but that shouldn't give reason to have a bad attitude. Just scanned my items and said the total. Gave me my change, told me how much it was, and that's it. Nothing except an unfriendly attitude. This location is near one of my favorite Pho places and I wanted to get some candy so I stopped in here. I don't plan on visiting again because the guy was simply rude.

It was Thursday 8/10th/2023, I went to Bonfare market to buy lunch at the Krispy Krunchy Chicken within the market. This happened, I go there frequently and order a 2 piece dark. I went up to the counter to pay and the cost was higher than usual ( $6.62) I asked the cashier " did the price go up"? He was agitated and said "yes it went up". I asked when and he said long time ago, do you want it or not?" He said you never been here before and I told him I come here frequently! Are you here 6am in the morning he said raising his voice. As I was talking to him he moved over to another register to help someone who came behind me. I told him I come here all the time and it wasn't a higher price. This man started yelling "do you want it or not! So I said "No I don't like our attitude"! He said "I DONT LIKE YOU, GET OUT". i asked why don't you like me? I see you left me to help the gentleman next to me (caucasian man) ! He got upset "you people always go there"! I don't like you , get out! So I told him I would call the manager, he said "call whoever you want, call Bonfare! I don't care! When I walked out of the door a man was standing at the door and said I'm sorry you had to go through that, you seem like a nice lady! Very bad customer service on August 10th at the Bonfare market, the Krispy Krunchy lady was very nice. My days of going into Bonfare Market in The Central Ave Plaza in Alameda on Central, are over. I'm a black 69 years old woman, why would I want to argue about 2 pieces of chicken and I didn't yell at him once. I was just trying to get information about price changes. It's called customer service. I have NEVER been treated like this before in all my years!
