Very pleasantly surprised upon our first (but definitely not last) visit. The food and drinks were absolutely flavorful and delicious. Our party had the Tofu Bowl, Mushroom Steak Salad, Caesar Salad, Grilled Sourdough with herb butter/ kumquat jam, a broccoli cheese soup, strawberry champagne cocktail, cider and blackberry mint limeade. The salads had a delicious grill char flavor, and all of the entrees were hearty and satisfying. My son felt his tofu bowl was a bit too spicy for him, and didn't love his blackberry limeade, but he still tried to eat up all the rest. Overall, we appreciated the tasty dishes, and our service was very courteous with recommendations and a smile. To those concerned about price, it's a sign of the times, not just for this restaurant IMO. But you get what you pay for, and we need more of this kind of food.. done right. The restaurant is easy to find, in the old Danville Hotel, along the restaurant row. It's got a charming style. We came for a drop in for lunch and had to wait 15 min, but we're happy we did.

Date: Saturday, January 4th, 2025Time: 12:30pmParty of: 2Meal: LunchReservation Made: via OpenTable*Chilaquiles ($21)*Maitake Steak Salad ($19)*Smash Burger ($18)*Sauces ($2)*Domaine Brut Glass ($12)*Ginger Lime Soda ($8)I am not one to ever suggest a vegan restaurant. Especially with the hubby since he's a meat and carb eater. However, I am a veggie lover and don't mind eating lighter meals from time to time. Enter one of my girlfriends. We used to see each other more often and talk about healthier food options. Since we hadn't gotten together is quite some time, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to explore a new spot.We actually had no idea B&R was completely vegan until we talked to the server. I was very shocked by the blue cheese since it actually had a nice texture. The mushroom salad was my favorite item. A very generous portion as well. I'm normally not into apple in salads, but for some reason, it worked here. Lots of flavors that mixed well. The smash burger was fine as was the chilaquiles. I'd say both were pretty standard. I asked for hot sauce since I like a little spice. Had no idea it would cost $2 extra but hey, it's two bucks.Service was odd. He was very attentive at the beginning, but then maybe he got busy and forgot about us? Not that we were in a hurry, but it did take some time to flag him down when we were finished with our meal.A solid place if you're looking for some vegan fare.REVIEW #3677

Four friends came here and we enjoyed our meal very much. We had the smash burgers, and the crabcake both erre absoloutely delicious and dull od flavor. We had the hickory salad and the sweet potato soup. Those were tasty as well and some lattes. The ambiance is quaint and clean. My only feedback was the service was very slow. For such a small place with only a few tables, the food took roughly 45 minutes to all arrive. Items ordered were left off and brought later. And we kept getting overlooked when we were needing things. Twice I had to go find someone to wait on us. As a local, this is not typical experience for a downtown Danville restaurant. I'm still giving 4 stars because facility, locafion, and food were that level. The service can be improved by hiring more staff to cook and also wait on the guests.

Always exceptional service at B&R. Tommy is sweet and always so polite. Food was good. I tried the crab cake sandwich this time with a lettuce wrap and the early girl tomato soup. Sandwich was good. Very filling. Loved the cheese. The soup was very flavorful. Everything was delicious as usual.

Got taken out here on Valentine's Day by my boyfriend. Best dinner I have ever experienced and tasted. Second fully vegan place I've ever been to. As a vegan, I usually have to cook things at home in order to not worry about what's in my food. It was a nice change of pace here. Seriously delicious menu and I had a hard time choosing what to get because of the plentiful variety of options. Unique flavors!! Had appetizers, main course, and dessert as shown in picture. Not pictured is a Caesar salad, the dressing was nice and lemony to me. The pear crumble was light on the stomach and warm. The bread was perfect to dip in the soup. I preferred the Potato Leek over the Broccoli Cheddar soup. Although both were very good! The yellow curry was JUST the right amount of spice before being too spicy for me. I was so impressed with the variety of vegetables offered in it. The waiters were very nice, offering plenty water refills and conversations. They let us stay way past the time allowed. I was seated outside with a heater so even though it was a cold climate, it did not feel like it! The art and plants were a nice view as well. Overall win. Your stomach's will thank you. The animals and Mother Nature will be pleased with your choice of eating vegan.

Came here on a Saturday night for dinner with the boo. We were very eager to explore what this restaurant had to offer in terms of vegan (and gluten free) items, and boy we were impressed! We were seated right away and had a lovely server. Loved the decor with all the hanging plants (screams the crazy plant lady in me...) I started off with a Mandarin Mojito, which was delicious. It's fruity and tangy, but refreshing like a spritzer. #'Crab' Cakes - as someone who's a self-proclaimed crab lover, I wouldn't say the texture was the same, BUT they were really delicious. These were crispy on the outside and slightly gooey on the inside with some texture (?stringiness) from the mushroom. Loved the pickled onions on top to add a bite of acidity.#Smash Burger - We got this with a side of potato salad. The first round came out with burnt buns, which rendered the burger inedible. We conveyed this to our server, and were quickly given a new burger on the house to enjoy. The potato salad was delicious; I like it with a tang of mustard, which this definitely delivered. The burger itself was also quite good. I can't believe the bread was gluten free!#Mushroom Steak Salad - This was the winner of the night. I still couldn't believe the 'blue cheese' was actually cashew based! The mushrooms were cooked to perfection and had such a wonderfully 'meaty' flavor and texture. I'd turn vegan for this salad alone. All in all a wonderful meal service. There were some hiccups with one of the entrees, however we were met with wonderful service and quick resolutions. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu!

While not a vegetarian, I'm trying to eat at least 3 vegetarian meals a week. Sticking mainly to modern dinos (aka land chickens) and chickens of the sea (aka fish) the rest of the time. Still eat red meat, just limiting it to two or three times a week. Makes my numbers behave, which in turn makes my doctor happy.Learning to like vegetarian meals, but finding restaurants that cater to vegetarians and vegans beyond token offerings on the menu is hard. So really happy to discover Blossom & Root. They do veggies right. I'd definitely eat more veggies if they always tasted this good. Food: A-Enjoyed the corn chowder. Didn't like the popcorn garnish as much. Popcorn should be more crispy than chewy. The entree salad was ginormous, big enough to feed 2. Yummy but wish they offered a smaller size. Makes it so appetizing when a salad is made up of many different ingredients with many different textures. The star was the maitake mushroom. Whatever they did with the marinade was chef's kiss. Must come back and check out their other mushroom dishes.Had the s'more mousse for dessert. Yummy but didn't care for the mini marshmallows. Toasted marshmallows have to be pillowy soft inside to contrast with the toasted outside. Maybe try toasting cream or jumbo marshmallows instead of minis next time. Not knocking store-bought but they have to match the quality of the other ingredients. Didn't object to the graham crackers, which I suspect were also store-bought, because any shortcomings were cleverly blitzed into the dust (aka crust) layer. Maybe experiment with making it into streusel/granola and sprinkling it onto a toasted marshmallow cream top.Drinks: AEnjoyed my Arnold Palmer. Came unsweetened with a little pot of simple syrup on the side. Wish more restaurants did this. My favorite way of adding sweetener as it smoothly combines into cold drinks. No graininess.Atmosphere: AThe grandma, cottage core, shabby chic vibe was nice. Not my aesthetic but it matched the historic nature of the building. Seats were comfortable. Liked the bar and open kitchen combo. Service: A+Great service. The servers were friendly and observant. Read customer cues perfectly. Adjusted the amount of interaction according to those cues. A couple, obviously on a date, were mostly left alone, only approaching when called. A few customers, maybe on a lunch break and short on time, were silently and efficiently served. They had more interaction with customers like me, patiently answering my questions.Overall, really liked this restaurant. Don't know about the longevity of an all veggie menu but I hope they succeed. Did not convert me into a full-time vegetarian but convinced me veggies aren't all bad. I will be back.

Vegan? Are you sure I am going to like it? Being a picky eater comes with many challenges and I have to say that Blossom and Root delivers. I had the best sandwich (Crispy Funghi Sando) I've had in Danville in the past year. I can't wait to go back!
