Walking around on a Sunday afternoon, we notice the Benicia Capitol State Historic Park was open. We decided to go in and take a look around. It's not free to do so. I believe it's $3 per adult, which is not bad at all.We walked through and looked at the informational displays on the first floor. The Park Ranger that worked there spoke to us and gave us a little history. We also walked around the carriage house, workers' quarters, and sculptured gardens. Very nice visit. Glad they have it open for tours.

Pleasantly surprised by this state park!! Filled with lots of California history in addition to local history. Make sure you stop by the Fischer Hanlon Houseas well - Diana was a wonderful, informative guide! Will be recommending both to future Benicia visitors. Really cool to have this right downtown and so awesome that it was only $3.

We were across the street and this beautiful building caught my eye. So it was a very old museum it only cost $3 . We went inside it was beautiful and very well taken care of. I learned how my Diablo got its name. Also how the government rooms looked. We went to the house where the was a lot of history and everything was antiques. The place was amazing and beautiful. Highly recommend for adults and kids. You get to learn history and it was very educational. Definitely recommend!

California history at its best. This is a humble capitol building (3rd of 4 in California Capitols). Insides are maintained very well though the outside need a redo. Chipping paint and holes.Still lovely. The American Flag is due for retirement in front but an easy fix if the local VFW or American Legion steps up. The staff is wonderful and OMG know all the details. It was just for them I would give a 5 Star rating.

What a cool piece of unexpected history. I got a great tour last Saturday from the docent and learned about the artifacts stored here and the construction of the building. It's amazing something this old is still standing after all this time. There's also a virtual geocache you can log when you visit.

My daughter and I stumbled upon the Benicia State Capitol Museum this past Saturday, what a pleasant surprise! We had the best docent tour given by Reese, he was a wealth of information, he knew all the history about the State Capitol of Benicia and the surrounding area. We highly recommend this tour.
