Super authentic, very yummy spot. Loved everything we got here - beef skewers, bread on skewers, red braised pork soup and Lanzhou noodles were all so good! The guy is super nice even though my mando is bad. He was really helpful in picking food! The vibes are excellent here. I was definitely singing along to every karaoke song - shoutout to every millennial who has 童活 memorized!

BBQ 85 opened where Urban Ka Re House was. Perimeters similar with new colorful themes, not food pics. A flatscreen. Fewer tables. Karaoke.Ordered by QR code. Waiter brought the water, the food, the cheque. Surfing the 'net otherwise.Offerings (Northern Chinese): skewers, appetizers, salads, one soup, drinks..Sparse menu-just what's available. Ordered. Food came 15 minutes later. Bites: lamb skewers (4/9.99)-seldom eat skewers. Wasn't disappointed. Lamb tender, juicy fresh, cumin flavored.-some meat stuck to skewers. Literally had to tear it off with a violent jerk of my head. Chopsticks weren't helpful.Lanzhou Beef Noodles (13.99) was a special @$10.-major fail. Only savor broth superb. Not sure if meats the source of flava. Noodles not hand pulled nor al dente. Sightly soggy. At best, fresh commercially sourced. Plentiful-a few thin slices of radish and 1/2 stalk of sliced green onions irrelevant to taste. -several slices of chewy beef ala beef shank, not tender nor juicy. Bland. Should have spoon it out & tossed it with the yummy chili oil, creating my own appetizers.3.5 stars no repeat. Affiliated with 85 Dumpling, Yayume in San Ramon.

It's a fine restaurant if you read reviews beforehand on what to order.Service: Somehow you get even less service than from a normal Chinese restaurant. You seat yourself and order using a QR code. A waiter brings you food, and later, the check.Ambiance: Pretty quiet when I went at around 6PM on a Monday night. They played some old Cantonese music and also some 2000s pop songs.Food: Everything that we ordered was good, with the flavor trending toward the sweeter end. Note that there are different Northern Chinese styles of the deep fried pork. The one that they make here is similar to tanghulu in that the crispiness comes from the crystallized sugar rather than from the batter. Skewers are alright, but the seasoning is a bit too sweet for me. I enjoyed the cold noodles a lot as I've never had them before. They are nice and chewy and seasoned well. However, there are some questionable aspects of the restaurant that made me dock some stars.First, they have a promotion in place where you can post a review on various apps in exchange for discounts. In particular, if you post a review on a specific site, they will give you $10 off your meal. The promotion failed to mention that you need to be an influencer in order to receive the discount. Being misled like this left a bad taste in my mouth.Second, the menu is extremely diverse. Like suspiciously diverse. Supposedly this is a Northern Chinese bbq restaurant, so you'd expect skewers and Northern Chinese food. But they serve literally everything. From Shanghainese food to Taiwanese food to Cantonese food. And it's not just stir-fries like some Chinese restaurants with hundreds of menu items. This place has fried rice, multiple different regional styles of noodles, pancakes, dumplings, and more. They don't seem to have the staffing required to make so many types of dishes with different preparations - when I went it seemed like there was just the owner and 1-2 chefs. It really makes me suspect if everything I ate just came from a package that was popped into the oven/microwave/fryer for a bit. I mean, the food still tasted fine, but I can also reheat some frozen food at home and save a lot of money.

BBQ 85 is a small modern restaurant. It has smaller tables with bench and chair seating. They do have a large table in the middle for a large party of 12. Music video is playing in the on a large tv in the middle of the restaurant. One men & one women's restrooms. We stopped in for a light nibble on this cold night. Parking is plentiful but can be challenging during peak hours.Order via QR code on the table. The service was nice and friendly.Lanzhou Beef Noodle - the broth was light, clear, yet simple. Maybe a bit more seasoning. The noodles were soft so you could slurp them up easily. Pork w/Veg Dumpling - served with a soy vinegar dipping sauce. The boiled dumplings were meaty.

The skewers are tasty and flavorful. Their skewer selection is smaller compared to other shops I've been to in South Bay, but good enough to satisfy my cravings!I recently tried their Lanzhou beef noodles and would NOT recommend this dish. I do enjoy a bit of MSG in my food but this had way too much MSG. We had a hard time finishing it.Beef rolls isn't bad, but their friend 88 bao bao next door does much better beef rolls. If you want something other than skewers, the shrimp with egg and chive dumplings are pretty good.Service is decent during week days. On weekend during peak hours, service might be slow. I appreciate that they open late, since not many restaurants in Dublin do. Overall a convenient late night spot to grab Chinese skewers in the area.
