Some of the best bread and baked goods in the bay. I try to pick up a little something from them at the Grand Lake Farmers Market at least once a month.

Swung by the Kensington farmers market after a light jog / walk on the Tilden trail. Ordered the olive loaf and it smelled heavenly :) couldn't resist and took a bite in the car. It was a very flavorful loaf with whole olives and well distributed herbs. Staff was very attentive and nice. Can't wait to try more loaves!

I patiently wait every Tuesday for these guys to come to my neighborhood farmers market. I always buy three things - a chocolate chip cookie, a baguette, and a loaf of foccacia. I give the cookie to my housemate and she and I agree it's the best cookie in the Bay Area. The focaccia keeps passion in my life, they sprinkle some sea salt on it. Heavenly. Unhinged goodness. Baguette is fun for baking bruschetta with. Life is short, enjoy carbs and sugar. Trust me

I finally decided to try this place out and went up and asked for focaccia. Didn't look at it until I got home and it was SO burnt! Super disappointing for two reasons, one: I was planning on bringing it to a party to share and last minute ended up having to find an alternative and two: I know they saw it when bagging it up for me and I'm disappointed that they saw that and didn't mention it to me and sold it to me anyways. Doesn't seem like sellable condition and you would think if you are going to sell it anyway, maybe ask the customer if they still want it?? Sorry but that left a pretty bad impression for me.

"Peanut butter miso millet" is not a combination I ever expected to see but the nice guy at the farmers' market stand told me the miso is a replacement for salt and the flavor comes through subtly. I'm so glad I decided to give it a try even though I'm not normally a peanut butter fan. It's a sophisticated, salty-sweet cookie that I would definitely get again. The texture & taste are great.

Crusty, hearty and super toothsome. My favorite type of bread. All organic ingredients, naturally leavened, CA sourced whole grains and locally owned. I've tried the baguette and the sesame loaf, both delicious, simple and a perfect amount of sour. Too lazy to go to the farmer's market but Good Eggs carries a nice selection - next up, rye.

Base Camp doesn't have its own brick and mortar outlet, although its breads are sold at Berkeley Bowl's two locations and are delivered by Good Eggs, according to their website. They sell at the Grand Lake Farmers' Market on Saturdays and at the Kensington Farmers' Market on Sundays and the latter is where Alan found them this morning. They have an array of hearty looking breads, but what he bought were a couple of everything bagels. He said the texture was good and firm. He had half of one w/ whitefish spread and the other half w/ jam. I expect we will be feasting on more of their baked goods in the future. Because Yelp requires me to put in a city to set up the thread of reviews, I put in Berkeley; if you know different, let Yelp know and they will correct it.

We got the world's best chocolate chip cookies with sea salt on top from them in the Kensington farmers market. They have a delicious flavor that's hard to describe; kind of like a rich chocolate chip cookie and a sea salt caramel ice cream, all rolled into one. The chewy texture is also amazing, that's crisp outside and soft and gooey inside.

Best cookies and bread around. I need to try the bagel next. I wish I bought more at the farmers market because I ate it all and now I'm jonesing for more!
