"Barrio Chino" is a ghost kitchen* at the Oakland Food Hall, in East Oakland. Barrio Chino means Chinatown in Spanish. I found this ghost kitchen when I was flipping thru my food delivery apps. The name "Chino" caught my attention because a guy at work used to always call me "Chino." Barrio Chino serves Asian Fusion dishes, with mexican/latin influences. Using the DoorDash app, I ordered:- Tito's Special: fried rice with fried cheese, lettuce, maduro, and eggs.- Pollo Picante Egg Rolls (2 for $7.00)I really liked the fried rice with cheese. As you know, Chinese food has no cheese. No really, think about it! What Chinese dish has cheese in it? Tito's Special Fried Rice has fried cheese strips, shredded lettuce, eggs, and maduro. It will taste better if you dice up the cheese strips. Very yummy flavor combination that blends together. Price $12.00The Pollo Picante Egg Rolls missed the mark. Maybe they gave me the wrong menu item, because these "spicy chicken" egg rolls had very little flavor. Maybe they need a dipping sauce. Real Chinese Egg Rolls would have more flavor than these rolls. Would I order again? Yes, but not those egg rolls. Service times: Driver had to wait 10 mins for order.-----------------------------------------------*What's a ghost kitchen? A ghost kitchen or cloud kitchen is a "faceless" restaurant. It has no dining room or wait staff. Orders are taken thru delivery apps, website, or food hall kioski. Everything is either delivery or takeout. Barrio Chino is part of the Oakland Food Hall. Here there's a central lobby where orders are distributed.

Barrio Chino in Oakland presents a mixed experience as a ghost kitchen. On my first order, the food quality was commendable, but the portions felt disproportionately small for the price paid. Unfortunately, the second experience took a downturn. I ordered fried rice, but received egg rolls instead. These egg rolls were excessively oily, compromising their appeal. Further dampening the experience was the communication barrier; attempts to reach out via their Google voice number went unanswered. Given these inconsistencies, I'm hesitant to place future orders with them.

I was intrigued by the restaurant's fusion of different food descriptions. The idea of Asian & Latin flavors blend was a first for me. We ordered 6 items that arrived greasy, with really small portions. The chimichurri dressing for the Chicken salad was missing, and the Ramen dish we ordered didn't arrive either. Two orders of Parnil Fried rice were sent instead. The Pernil egg rolls were soggy, not a crunch to be found. I was so disappointed with the food. Not worth the money! Will I ever try this food again..Nope

We ordered barrio Chino from the DoorDash app last night to try something new and I'm glad that I did! Pernil chow ramen was super flavorful. The pork was tender and the pickled onions were a nice touch.. It is also very filling.

The food was new to us so we ordered a fairly wide spectrum of dishes, I think maybe four options, some spicy some not. And holy hell, I'm just about ready to trade my husband in if I could permanently eat every single one of these dishes weekly. Chef Armando knocked it out of the park.
