It is new but has already achieved an old world experience. The bartender was nice enough to let me bring in a coffee from Kaleidoscope next door, then I ordered several whiskeys later. They support local music which is why I came to the venue. They switched to the a sports game and we grabbed spectacular BBQ. I frequented their old location, Black Star BBQ and the quality is still excellent. Glad to go there on an afternoon or evening. No other place like it in the Bay Area.

Black Star BBQ was quite a remote spot to grab a weekend bite at the end of a winding, potholed road in Point San Pablo. The owners decided to close it a while back (Sailing Goat took it over) and opened this funky spot in nearby Point Richmond. Smart move as it's a lot easier to get here, and inevitably they added a bar. I paid a first visit not long after they moved. The bartender was friendly, but she wasn't able to make an espresso martini or a tequila sunrise for whatever reason.I was finally able to land on the $14 Makers Mark & Ginger, a generous pour for a third choice (photo: https://yelp.to/EsCmGN6S1f). I came back recently for the BBQ side of their menu for takeout. I didn't order from their truck in the parking lot. I actually used (*horrors*) Grubhub. I decided to order the $30 Two Meats/Two Sides plate going with the smoked brisket and pulled pork (photo: https://yelp.to/Sehw9CsNzr). Loved the brisket with globules of melted fat but was less fond of the pulled pork which was a bit on the dry side. The all-American sides were well executed. The mac n' cheese and zesty corn were the kind of homestyle carby complements that purely satisfied. In a nostalgic throwback mood, I also ordered the $6 Cream of Mushroom Soup (photo: https://yelp.to/Q0xMZUryNm). It reminded me of Campbell's but in a good way. My one complaint was that the portions were on the paltry side. They have live music here, so there are things to do beyond drink and eat. Next time I might do both at the same time.FOOD - 3 stars...good BBQ, a bit skimpyDRINKS - 3 stars...selection was limitedAMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...they've got their funk onSERVICE - 3 stars...on the vacant sideTOTAL - 3 stars...maybe eating and drinking might helpRELATED - Exploring Richmond? This is a really cute low light bar and music venue. I had a great time grabbing a cheap drink while a rockabilly band was playing the other day. There's a decent amount of seating and the decor is very fun. A cute place to meet up with friends.

Food was not good. No flavor and Cold. Expensive garbage. I don't drink so I can't rate the drinks. The Band was pretty good. I can say I can see why people would go here for drinks and live music. If they had a better menu and food quality this place would be so much better. The server was not Friendly either. No friendly welcome vibes on a Friday night dinner out (6:30pm) and they had us make reservations. That was weird. The place was empty

Took the wifey out to a last minute dinner and we decided to try this place having heard about it for a while. I liked the ambiance of the place and there was a band playing on the other side. There was a cover charge of $10 to see the band. We opted to sit on the restaurant/bar side. My wife had a cocktail (Pyrate Mule) and I had a beer. The drink was good and was strong. The beer was good also. Wifey ordered Chicken and Waffles. The chicken was hot and crispy and the waffle tasted good as well. Definitely a good pick. I ordered the two meat/two side barbecue plate with the cornbread. For the meat I picked ribs and brisket and for the sides it was Mac and Cheese and cowboy beans. I was disappointed because most of the items came out cold. There was plenty of food on the tray but the lack of heat kind of killed the dish. The food tasted ok and I did finish the Mac and cheese and beans but took home a couple of ribs and most of the brisket. It was good when heated up. Maybe it was an off night and will try them again.

Review just about the food. Friend and I were in the area and thought to give it a go. Food was the worst thing I ate in a while. Candied yams were just smashed yams, no brown sugar, no marshmallows, not even salt. The Mac n cheese was way over cooked and completely flavorless and all of the food was served cold and we came right at opening 5:02pm. I have never wanted to dine and ditch a place before, but this please really tested me.

this is the most underrated/unknown amazing restaurant. The food here is AMAZING - never hand anything less than delicious tho my standard go-to is the shrimp 'n' grits. it's a lovely place to eat outside on their patio and listen to some live music in the most uniquely beautiful art-garden of a space. it's hard to know that it's even a restaurant and you'll probably have to tell someone that you're there for food, since it's mostly a bar and hangout for music. went here for a party once and Chef Tony cooked up the most incredible cajun FEAST. Also the BBQ truck out in the back parking lot kicks ass.GO HERE. TIP THE BAND. TIP YOUR SERVER.

Cool little spot! We popped in for a drink. Cover to go into the back where the band was playing. Pretty diverse crowd. Cute spot! Bartender was super nice. We'll be back.

Got there early on a Thursday night (6p)... party of six... place was empty other than 2 other parties. Were told they were out of bbq chicken Waited 30-40 minutes for food...pulled pork was dry...Gumbo was flavorless...corn bread tasted horrible... hush puppies also had no flavor...This maybe a great venue for music and drinks... but your better off skipping the food
