Looking for organic and natural groceries on the island? This compact but well-stocked natural foods market has become our household's weekly shopping destination, filling the niche for health-conscious grocery shopping without requiring a trip to Whole Foods.Store & Shopping Experience:The store's manageable size makes shopping efficient while still offering an impressive selection. Though compact, the layout makes good use of space, housing everything from pantry staples to fresh produce and household essentials. The dedicated parking lot is a major plus for quick grocery runs.Product Selection & Quality:The produce section consistently offers fresh, organic options, and the staff is always willing to check their stock room for the freshest batch available. Beyond produce, you'll find a comprehensive selection of natural and organic products across all grocery categories, from pantry items to household supplies.Staff & Service:What really makes shopping here a pleasure is the exceptionally helpful staff. They're knowledgeable about their products and always ready to assist with questions or special requests. Their friendly, attentive service adds a personal touch that's often missing from larger chain stores.Value:While prices align with what you'd expect from a natural foods market (think Whole Foods territory), the quality and convenience justify the cost. You're paying for carefully sourced products and personalized service, making it a fair value for health-conscious shoppers.Bottom Line:For island residents seeking natural and organic groceries, this market is the perfect solution. It strikes an ideal balance between comprehensive selection and intimate shopping experience, proving you don't need a massive store to meet all your natural grocery needs.

I really love stopping by this Alameda grocery store in the Marketplace on my way back to Oakland. They have produce, many dairy (and non-dairy) selections, healthy snacks, sauces, vitamins, beer, and beauty/ skincare products. It's also in the marketplace where you can find baked goods, meats, cheeses, and wine-- as well as to-go dining options like sushi, Mediterranean food, and salads/ sandwiches. Everyone is kind and helpful. There are plenty of parking options in the parking lot. It's organized and clean.

Small, local, health grocery store located in the Alameda Marketplace with a parking lot outside. Picked up some mineral water, organic finger limes and artisan jerky (wagyu beef and venison) today. They have a small but conscious section for produce, pantry, seasoning, and dairy. As well as an apothecary-esque area for natural oils, makeup, deodorant, health tonics. For fresh meats, drop by Baron's butchery in the same indoor space.

I love this little marketplace. Every time I'm in Alameda, I somehow end up here. This time, I stopped in to look for Odd Bagels Gluten Free Bagels. They're made locally and can be found in the bread aisle. They were fantastic! Nice and soft and chewy just like a bagel should be! Since I had a few minutes, I walked around and discovered other great finds like Far West Funghi wild mushrooms in the produce section. I'm definitely coming back.

While I appreciate their large selection of supplements and vitamins, I don't think it is a store where I can buy a couple of days worth of groceries. It's more of a "I forgot to pick up this and this" type of place. Romaine lettuce was triple the cost here than it is at Berkeley Bowl.

So ended up here again 'cause I ran out of MCT oil and collagen for my morning coffee. My partner took pity on me and joined me for emotional support. I'm sure I'll be buying drinks after this. I seriously need to plan better via web orders or by hitting up Sprouts when I'm near one. I'm not sure if it's just me but it seems the price of some items has jumped big time. The place and staff are still annoying as hell and today upon checkout I was instructed there would be one more question for me to answer on the screen. It was, "Would you like to tip the staff today? Options were none or varying amounts. I couldn't hit "none" fast enough and got out of there before my head started spinning around like the Exorcist chick.

Alameda Natural Grocery is the hippest place to shop for groceries in Alameda. In fact, some peeps come from the "mainland" to shop there. As I entered the store from their parking lot, on the left was a bulletin board with information about music and children. On the right, there was a bakery display case. I couldn't resist getting a large crispy breadstick with seeds, jalapeno and cheese. I also got some chocolate chip, molasses, and oatmeal cookies--they were so delicious I almost ate them all before getting back in my car. They have a fresh fish and meat market where there is a butcher to make those special cuts of meat. Also, the animal products come from animals that are raised humanely. You can actually smell the fish before you buy (who wants to buy old stinky fish?) They have a wide variety of foods for vegans, and people on special diets, too. They steer away from chemically processed foods, including GMO. They have a beautiful selection of organic fruits and vegetables including the largest selection of fresh mushrooms I have seen in the East Bay.They carry just about everything you would expect for a natural food store. Something that surprised me located above their large selection of chocolate bars was some really beautiful large woven baskets. You can see them in my photos.I love coming to this store!

I love the store but the cashiers are consistently rude. I have yet to visit when one was friendly. I only shop here if I have to.
