I'm one of the artists so I'm biased, but it's a pleasure to show in this gallery. The staff is very friendly and supportive, and they have a wide variety of fine and functional art. Go check them (us) out!

ACCI is a nicely appointed art gallery, artist coop, and store. I have wandered into this welcoming space in good times and bad, and have always left with a thought, a gift, or an indulgence that has made me smile. The ACCI space has a front room, a larger back one, and a small outdoor patio. They offer a wide variety of art including jewelry, pottery, glass, textiles, and wood. It's always fun to browse and is one place where you could get most of your holiday or special event shopping done in one campaign. And all that can be done with a certain handcrafted and personal flair and respect for your budget. Their seconds sales are also well worth the trip.

This wonderful cooperative gallery shows only local artists. Nina and I stopped in here this afternoon after lunch at Bistro Liaison and a trip to the bead shop. Walking around I noticed work by Kimi Masui, who's part of the Berkeley Potters Guild plus work by another couple of potters who used to be part of that group. In addition to ceramics, there are jewelry, greeting cards, art glass and quilts. Prices range from affordable to expensive. Quality is excellent. I've been shopping here since I lived behind the Shattuck Co-op (now Andronico's) in the mid 60s, when it was on my walk to campus. It first opened in 1957 and is the oldest artist cooperative west of the Mississippi. It had been several years since I'd last stopped in and I was again amazed at the high quality and diversity of its offerings. Interestingly, after decades of shopping here I had never been to the back patio and seen the sculptures. Thanks to Eric B. for pointing them out. There's a grand metal pelican that wants to come live in my yard. I can tell. Though it's not for sale, I particularly liked the red glass inlaid in an irregular line in the cement floor of the back room. It glittered in the afternoon's sunshine. The ACCI Gallery is a great place to shop for gifts for others or indulgences for oneself.

Was dragged into the gallery by the boyfriend who spotted the paper maiche dinosaurs in the window. Great selection of pottery and art continued for rooms inside the storefront, including a small backyard section. Bought a supercute, handmade clay dinosaur for $30 -- it makes noise when you shake it! Will totally come back here for thoughtful, unique presents for friends with taste. Thinking about who would like a family of four colorful, spotted hens that double as wind chimes/bells, or some nice handmade vases or bowls. Acci Gallery is a great place to start your pottery art collection -- perfect for the Berkeley organic aesthetic.

SUCH an awesome artists cooperative. I always shop here for special gifts for friends at ALL price points. Serious recommendation: UPDATE SIGN OUTSIDE TO IDENTIFY AS "HANDMADE ART FOR SALE". Once again, last night at a party several people who've lived in Berkeley for YEARS were not surprised that so many residents don't even know this place exists or think of it as some sort of esoteric museum ('Gallery') & are completely unaware it is a retail art store. Please identity yourselves to potential customers who drive by, not WALK by, so never even see the window displays.

I got a beautiful vase from here as a wedding gift and decided to check out their merchandise over the weekend. Lots of beautiful items - jewelry, ornately carved candles (amazing!), and lots of other unique nick nacks. A bit pricey, for sure (a knit scarf will run you $125, for instance). A pair of metal-smithed earrings cost around $135! Still, if you're ready to splurge for one-of-a-kind items, this is the place for you! I'd definitely recommend the seconds sale (there was one this weekend, in March), and everything was very affordable. Clay pots and plates were in the $10-15 range, for instance. I bought a pair of earrings for about $15! Over all, I'd say that I probably wouldn't buy items at the regular price, but the seconds sale was decent!
