88 Manor Market

Went next door for dinner, Pho Ga 88. So I decided to check this place out.Quality/Quantity - My wife bought some fruits and noodles.Discovered some new vermicelli noodles, the same brand that we buy our rice paper in, but these noodles were rectangular and flat. So I'm going to give it a try.Atmosphere - Small local business. Fairly neat and organized.Seemed to have all the departments. Produce and seafood look the freshest.Small parking lot, be safe.I parked at the furthest spot to protect both my car and me, lol. Service - Self service. Nice lady checked us out.Price - $3, inexpensive if you ask me.Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2014.

I was familiar with this market, but usually only for produce or Asian-cupboard staples. Stopped by to get some veggies and sliced meats since we were in the area -- and on the way out put some Japanese mochi on the conveyor belt because why not. I got home and opened the mochi that I was looking forward to snacking on, and it was super hard. I looked at the expiry date and it said November 20, 2024........................ Waste of money but I shouldn't have to be checking the expiry dates for a business. Upon reading some reviews now, I guess this isn't a unique situation unfortunately. You're better off going to 88 Market in the Lower Bal area. Yikes.

Do not come to this location unless you really have no other choice.This location sells so many expired and past best by dates from 2022 and 2023. There were multiple incidents where I picked up a package of tofu , beef balls and tomato paste... all of them were best by year of 2022. It's disgusting that they don't go through their inventory and dispose them. I had to inform one of the shelvers in Cantonese letting them know that there were a lot of expired stuff and showed it to them. After that, they asked another person to go over there and take out all the expired things. I don't understand, if I didn't say anything they will continue to sell it and pray that no one notices it. That's disgusting...

Rude personnel at this place, butcher totally ignored us and register ladies are plain rude. Don't support business who don't appreciate customers and at least have the decency of being polite, shpp somewhere else

Do NOT buy meat here. They never keep the prepared meat section cold enough. The fridge always seems warm and not up to food safety standards. I came here yesterday and the fridge for the meat and produce sections were WARM! I suspect their fridges broke down and have been like this for a few days because the veggies in the produce section had mold. I couldn't believe none of the employees bothered to move the food items out. I sincerely hope no one bought meat from here recently. The check out counters are gross too. It doesn't seem like health inspectors come to this grocery store because they've always been unsanitary and nothing has improved here. I'd rather go to Food Net or Sung Chong Market in San Leandro. Eww, no thanks!

Stepping into this facility you can already smell urine. I came in only to purchase a sack of rice. Jon walking to the other end of the store the stench got stronger. The cashier was not friendly and threw the receipt at me. After purchasing the bag and getting to my car I noticed my hands were really sticky. Urine! The health department should come by and really evaluate this place.

My moms went after work to pick up some ribs to marinate for me. The butcher gave her this bag. She did not want it because there were no meat on 50%! It was ALL BONES. they said they can't do anything because they are closing and register close but if she brings it back next morning they will take care of it. THEY DID NOT they said there's nothing they can do. I tried calling the store BOTH numbers from the receipt and Yelp and no one is answering. This whole bag costed $76! For bones?! Unacceptable.

My mom bought these lychees (2.16 lb at $2.59/lb) this afternoon at 16:44. We just opened up the bag and saw that there are white fuzzy molding spots in all the fruit. Your produce is not fresh yet you continue to sell them on the shelves. Perhaps your store needs a visit from the inspectors.

I come here mostly for vegetables and fresh seafood!!The seafood is as fresh as you can get, cause they have fish tanks with live fish here!!Now, watching them kill the live fish can be a bit brutal at times, and that just is what it is...This market is small, stuff everywhere, and they have a lot of stuff here.They also have a meat market, frozen foods, canned goods, pots and pans, just lots of stuff!This place is popular, it's almost always busy when I come here.Parking here is a hassle big time, so I usually park across the street most of the time. That's one of the downsides here.I've never had any issues here, but I have seen a few dust ups, maybe that's just a sign of the times.This is a good Asian market!!!

So rude... the woman at the register totally ignored me when I was clearly asking her a question until I raised my voice then shrugged her shoulders and gave no never mind to me the customer ! Terrible I will never return
