Number One Taste

Was in the mood for some good old American Chinese food and was actually quite looking forward to it actually. Unfortunately the overall experiences had its up and downs.I wasn't quite expecting the near 2hour delivery time from when I ordered till when I got my food on a busy Friday evening. If I had know when I ordered on DoorDash that the restaurant themselves were responsible I think it's better to call to place order ahead of time. I did get an update when I called an hour after my order time and they were courteous enough to let me know. Their food is pretty decent but definitely not worth waiting so long for it lolHowever they had some redeeming qualities.. the food was still relatively warm and I really enjoyed the boneless pork ribs and chicken wings. The other are more meh but for the price it's not a bad choice if you're craving for this type of food. But definitely get in contact with the restaurant before you order online otherwise pick up would probably be the best.I hope they can continue improve their services as I think with some adjustments it would be a great addition to the neighbors seeing they're not so far from my area

We ordered Vegetable Lo-mein, Tofu Vegetable Stir fry and scallion pancakes for pick up.Well the lady who was taking our order didn't wait for us to talk and hung up. But they got the order right.Vegetable Lo-Mein - ordered a large. not a lot of veggies, but it tasted good. I was disappointed when I saw a few bean sprouts and bell pepper. I was hoping to get more veggies. I have ordered from this place before and have faced same issue then too.Tofu stir fry - ordered a large, this was great - quantity, quality and taste, comes with a side of rice.Scallion pancakes - My favorite, remained crispy until we got food home and ate it. They give a few soy sauce packets. An extra star for the fortune cookies they add in all their pick up orders.

I love their beef teriyaki. It is sweet and savory tender and wonderful. Their egg rolls are wonderful.the whole menu is good. I usually do take out as Hubby will pick up and pay so I don't know about the atmosphere. I can't complain about the service since I don't eat there but the food is always fresh and ready. The main course I bought was hong sue gai I think that is how you spell it and it was so good and hit the spot.

My friends like this, so we gave it a try. Granted, we ordered different dishes than they did, but none of them were worth eating, or revisiting as left-overs. First, the Hot and Sour Soup: it was neither hot nor sour, completely bland. We tossed the rest. It did contain the expected ingredients, but had no taste. The Veggie dumplings were Okay, just meh; likewise the Veggie Pad Thai. Edible, but not enough veggies, and not worth revisiting. We picked up the food when it was supposed to be ready, but everything was already cold. I'm sorry to write a bad review, but tossing $30 worth of food stung.

I don't know why other reviewers hate on this place. For American Chinese it's good. If you're looking for home style or authentic Chinese look elsewhere. Number One Taste is clean (you can see the whole kitchen), the food is fresh, tastes good, and is reasonably priced. My kids who are tweens love the food. If you're missing Lucky Dragon in the Center on Medford Street I recommend trying Number One Taste. I like the dumplings, and the scallion pancakes are extra crispy and plentiful.

We have ordered delivery and takeout a few times here. We love the fried rice. Not greasy and plenty of veggies and meat. We were not impressed with the salt and pepper pork chops. We thought they would be served as whole chops, instead they look and taste similar to pork rinds. Lots of fat and overcooked. The chicken and broccoli was very good.

Got delivery from here and enjoyed everything I got. Big portion on the entree too- I had it for 2 meals. Nice touches like fresh mushrooms- both regular and wood ear.

Frustratingly bad since I live a three minute walk from here. I have ordered here twice. I have tried this place a couple of times and ordered a few different dishes in hopes I would find something they do well - no luck. Both times I threw most of it out. Bland egg rolls with no pork. Pork leek dumplings with tough chewy filling. Inedible tough chewy orange chicken. Bland beef broccoli even asking for it spicy. Fatty chewy pork strips etc etc. I'm not asking for much, I grew up on Kowloon's. On the plus side the staff that works there is very pleasant and cheerful.

This place when it opened started out great. Now its way off. Chicken Lo Mein had weird "cakey" stuff on the chicken. The Spring Rolls had mushy inside, no carrots, veggies. The Chicken with Vegetables had way to much oily sauce that I had to drain out, not very tasty. Don't know what happened here regarding the quality of their products.

Ordered delivery from here twice. I'm giving 3 stars for the food alone, but bumping up 1 star cause of their cheaper price.If you're the type of person that feels all America-Chinese places are pretty much taste the same, Number One Taste may be a good way for you to save some money on your American-Chinese fix. If you are seeking a more flavorful or quality experience, you may want to find another place but probably spend up in the process.I most recently ordered the General Gau combo with boneless spare ribs, as well as beef with broccoli. The General Gau's was a bit on the bland side and kinda reminded me more of the sweet and sour sauce that you find in most American-Chinese sweet and sour chicken. Spare ribs was fine, though I wish they'd use more sauce on it. The beef and broccoli tasted the best - pretty much like every xxx and broccoli dish I've had - but the beef wasn't the best quality (I'm thinking the beef just wasn't as fresh?).
