Wow, this place is great! A hidden gem across the street from the UTC mall. Great place to get your Korean / Japanese food fix. Amazing selection of bento plates, Asian inspired salads, Ramen! and sushi. They are also known for their famous Chirashi salad! It's a bed of sushi rice with lettuce, masago, tuna, salmon shrimp and yellowtail. Sooo good~Great vibes, music and ambiance. Will be back

I do not say this lightly. BEST sushi I have ever had. Not a single miss in what we ordered. Perfect amount of food for 3 ppl too. Micro greens on the rolls and under the Shumai actually added to the dishes and didn't t feel like random ass garnishes every featured Kitchen Nightmares kitchen loves to throw in there. They always fugg up the vibe of the roll but Nekosan did this perf.. Idk just like even though every roll we got had tempura it was so mfing good.... And I have a high af bar for sushi and get rlly particular about what I like in a roll... these had the perfect crunch, freshness, heat, textures, and hints of sweetness. My order of what I liked the best and highlighted ingredients (not listing all ingredients bc I'm not doing all that )1. Special Hawaiian roll (spicy crab, tempura, Spicy tuna, etc)2. Crispy rice roll (albacore, yellowtail, jalapeño, aioli atop crispy rice, etc)3. Aloha roll (tempura, crab salad, seared salmon, eel sauce, aioli, macadamia nuts) 4. Ultimate hamachi roll (spicy yellowtail, tempura, jalapeño, ponzu, eel sauce!)My bff and boyfriend rated my #1 LAST tho lol and had my #3 at the top just FYIShrimp shumai was a banger too but ultimately didn't taste TOO dif from the frozen packs I get from 99 Ranch. But for scale I witerally am fweaking obsessed w the 99 ranch packs I so many I wake up w sodium hangovers. Service was on top of it. Only dislike was lack of backed seating indoors, but the patio had comfortable heating.Satiated my sushi craving for at least three weeks which completely cushions the blow of moving away from SD5/5 going back

My friend and I were craving sushi and found Nozomi. I got the girl's night roll and enjoyed it. I really appreciated the photos on the menu because I tend to get indecisive when ordering sushi rolls. I wasn't sure how to feel about the mustard sauce but it was tasty. I got an ajitama on the side for extra protein and it was ok. I wish it was more marinated.Overall I also enjoyed the vibes and throwback music. A mini Haagen dazs to finish the meal was the cherry on top. We would come again.

We were looking for a sushi spot to celebrate a graduation, and I was definitely pleasantly surprised by this outdoor, no-frills izakaya-style Japanese restaurant right by UCSD. Prices were very fair for La Jolla (expect ~$30 pp), and their sushi rolls were definitely very well made! My favorite was the Dragon Roll, which contained imitation crab and perfectly fried tempura shrimp, and was topped with generous cuts of unagi and avocado. The Love Volcano was also well-made for a baked roll, with a generous amount of real scallops and not too much sauce on top. We also ordered the tempura and Nabeyaki udon, and while these noodle soups did hit the spot on a cold night, they weren't the most authentic or flavorful. Definitely recommend checking this spot out for a quick sushi fix!

Generally feel like the odd man out when dining at Japanese restaurants. Sadly not much of a seafood guy and though I've tried, can't really seem to get into Sushi. Which is quite unfortunate as my wife loves sushi and same with a lot of our friends. Lucky for me I was introduced to Chicken Katsu Curry. Which is kinda like a stew served with Potatoes, Carrots, Diced Onions on top of some rice. The Chicken is fried and is perfect for dipping into the Curry. While I've had this at a couple of places - our fav is Nozomi. As the Sushi is great and the Curry is excellent. The only real issue with Nozomi is it can get a little busy at times. Parking can be a challenge though using the underground parking structure is way easier. I would make sure to plan ahead and try to make the happy hour. The ambience is pretty chill - I prefer to eat outdoors as they have a nice little dining area. Though the time I did eat inside - it was quite tranquil. Overall just a calm environment to get a meal. We generally take my whole family and everyone has something to eat. Though it's usually a round of Chicken Katsu Curry and some Sushi.

I remember they used to better, but the quality has gone down. We got the shrimp tempura, hamachi Kama, jalapeño yellowtail, salmon carpaccio, bluefin tuna nigiri, yellowtail nigiri, toro nigiri, and seared black tuna sashimi. The raw portions were big cuts of fish, but they were not so fresh. I actually enjoyed the cooked items more- like the shrimp tempura and hamachi Kama. Service was also very slow. We sat outside and were not attended to for quite some time. I heard their chirashi bowl is really good, so I might try that next time!

Tucked away in a medical plaza next to a Marriott hotel, Nozomi sushi is a hidden gem. Parking is not obvious. There are a few spots right out front, but most likely you will need to park in the underground garage that is usually paid parking, however, the restaurant does validate for 2 hours. Most of the dining area is under an outdoor covered tent. This is not your ordinary tent; it's almost as if it is a byproduct from pandemic days when most dining moved outdoors. There's plenty of staff, who are very attentive throughout your visit. We arrived early for a pre-5:00 dinner. However, by the time we were nearly finished with their meal, the tent had a good number of diners on a Friday evening. The menu has food items for any Japanese cuisine lover. There are a number of typical Japanese appetizers, noodle dishes, sushi rolls, and apparently some of their more unique items including a very large Charashi bowl. In our party, we ordered three rolls - the Hawaiian, bill gates, and super crunchy. These were a great value despite pretty typical prices. The portion sizes are substantial and won't disappoint. The taste was terrific. I am a particular fan of no rice sushi rolls that are wrapped in cucumber. And this is where the Bill Gates was an absolute pleaser! Others in our party ordered the gyoza and shrimp tempura appetizers along with the chicken katsu curry over rice. One thing to note is that the bathrooms available for customers are actually a part of the medical building and requires a bit of a walk out and around the building and into the backways down a long hallway and requires a code to access.Nozomi will definitely need to be bookmarked for a future visit when we are in the area!

I love it here. Servers are always in a rush and may not be the most friendly, but don't let that stop you. Food is great.
