After having Novel Ice Cream bookmarked on Yelp for almost two years, I finally made it to the ice cream shop May! We walked up to the window and were greeted right away. The friendly staff answered all of our questions and let us sample a few flavors.Novel Ice Cream offers 12 hand-crafted flavors, from classics to unique surprises including four weekly rotating options. I had my heart set on a dough melt. Donut + ice cream? Can't get any better than that.I ordered the Caramel Bourbon Crunch on dough melt and my husband ordered the Honey Lavender and Berries & Cream in a cone. It was love at first bite for me! The Caramel Bourbon Crunch was creamy and delicious. I thought it went perfectly well with the donut. I sampled my husband's Honey Lavender and Berries & Cream ice cream and both were excellent. The honey lavender had a strong lavender flavor, so highly recommend for lavender fans.Can't wait to return and try other flavors!

Located inside an alley-like divot with a couple other businesses also. Sparse seating in the alleyway, but outside there's covered seating. Walk up window to order, and food comes out pretty quickly. Cute ice cream place with interesting flavors!Hibiscus sorbet - Pretty sure this is a limited flavor. Was light and refreshing, but not overly sweet. Perfect for a hot day (or everyday, in arizona)Honey lavender - On the sweeter side, but I really enjoyed the lavender flavor here. I don't know how I feel about the buds still being in the ice cream though, because I typically don't eat that. If you have texture issues this might not be the best flavor for you. Interested in seeing their new sorbet flavors and flavor rotation otherwise. We almost missed it walking in, but we'll be ready to try more flavors next time.

What a cool ice cream spot in downtown Mesa! I love ice cream...like looooove it! This ice cream was top notch...very creamy, the flavor came through perfectly and had the right consistency and temperature (I don't know if that makes sense but it did to me). The store itself is tucked back down a long, well lit passageway...you could walk right by it and never knew it was there. You order at the window and walk back out the passageway to find a spot to indulge on your selection. There's plenty of seating outside. At night, there are stings of lights that add to the ambience. It's great for a date or with a group of friends. On a scale of 1 - 10, I found my new favorite ice cream spot :). You should check it out!

This months ice cream flavors !! Usually their nondairy options are hit and miss; tried the pineapple mint and sorbet and it wasn't for me.. but the Roasted Almond was to die for !!!! Especially in this hot summer and it's such a cute place to visit. We always get the butter pecan and bourbon Carmel ! For 3 scoops , it came out to be around$ 6+!! The service was great and fast!

One of our favorite places to sneak out to! The flavors are limited but that's because what they do, they do WELL. I cannot recommend the honey lavender enough. It's creamy and thick, but not heavy, and the lavender lightens it up nicely.

THE ice cream place for the great Phoenix area. Just as good as their downtown Phoenix store. The realest flavors you will try in ice cream. And they have rotating flavors that highlight unique takes on local flavors. The Bourbon Caramel Toffee Crunch is my all time favorite here. Highly recommend this local place!

Personally I don't get the hype. The dough melt was good but the donut over powers the flavor of the ice cream. There are very few choices for flavors and nothing I found intriguing. The prices were very reasonable and you can even do half of a single scoop for half the price for toddlers. Staff was very nice and the location is cute. I like ice cream with chunky mix ins instead of toppings. I wouldn't return due to personal preference.Edited: updating to 5 stars. Shawn the owner reached out and wanted me to give Novel another chance. I stopped by today to pick up a gift certificate and there were some yummy sounding flavors. I didn't want ice cream today but will return to use my gift certificates. Shawn is passionate about his business and has such a friendly crew. Thanks Shawn!

Best place to get a Dough Melt! Highly recommended a scoop of butter pecan ice cream, between a lightly glazed donut, rolled in Golden Grahams. The salty and sweet combo is chef's kiss!

This is one of the best ice cream places in all the country! They have a rotating menu and u can also get sorbets if ur lactose intolerant! A must try if near the area!
