I cannot say enough positive things about Northside Shack. My wife and I have been getting acai bowls from Northside shack for at least 5 yrs straight. We have one at least once a week and get one from Northside Shack at least once or twice a month, so you do the math.We have learned to always call ahead, so by the time we get to the restaurant our acai bowls are ready. We do this because there is always a line, especially on Saturday morning. Just order ahead and go to the little pickup window when you arrive. We've tried acai bowls from probably every place we've seen them sold in San Diego and Northside Shack is the best because they use the most ingredients and they are always packed with fresh fruit and any other additional toppings you could imagine. If you like acai like we do, you should definitely give them a try! Thanks,Ashley & Lindsey Head

Small shop that can get busy when the weather is great. They have tons of options from bowls to health targeted smoothies. Great option for fresh/healthy treats.Parking is difficult, so plan accordingly.

I've heard great things about this place and it definitely lives up to the hype! I ordered the anti inflammatory smoothie which was so refreshing! It has pitaya and mint which was a great combination. The employees were very friendly and I like that they had a few benches to sit at while you wait. The only downside is the parking. There's a very small lot and not too much street parking so parking was quite difficult. I'll definitely be back to try their again bowls!

I've had this place on my list to try for quite some time, I was told it was one of the best places in SD.Despite loving acai bowls, I can't say I get them very often.I did read reviews in the past and I was a little hesitant about going thinking it would be super busy with a long line. We went down to the location, there is parking directly in the front, but not much. (maybe 3 or 4 spots total)I parked in the lot across the street since it was on a Sunday.I have never been to this spot so I wasn't sure where it was, but as we got closer, I could see a lot of people standing around. We got up there, most of the people had already ordered. There were about 4 people in front of us standing in line to order. The ordering did go by pretty quickly.I do think Acai bowls are the most ordered, but I did see people getting smoothies as well. They also had muddled teas, kids smoothies, kombucha, tonics and spritzers. I will try a smoothie the next time I visit. We got a large Acai bowl with everything. It was $17 (you can add a tip if you like) You can pick diff bases for your acai bowl.I thought the staff was super friendly. I had a short discussion about nut allergies. The lady said it would be about 10 minutes, but I don't think it was that long. (maybe 7)I will say they really do pile on the fruit, they wrap the top in saran wrap if you get it to go. They also give you a plate so you can catch any of the fruit that falls off while eating.Things I loved about the bowl:1. Acai was uber thick and when I finally got home, I didn't think it melted much.(10 min drive)2. Tons of fruit, I loved seeing mango and even grapes includedI think the price could be a little less, I do love all the fruit but it's still pricey. I also don't remember the granola. (they don't give much and it didn't stand out in taste/texture) I think a good price would be $12-14If you are going to split this with someone else or even 3 people it might be worth it. I have had other acai bowls that have better granola. Granola and other ingredients not only add taste but texture to acai bowls. When people mention what's the key to a good acai bowl, granola is high on the list. If the granola is not good or doesn't stand out, it drops down the list.Service: 5/5Ambiance: 3/5 (not much there)(no seating, but there were a couple of benches you could snag while waiting)Food: 4/5 (taking 1 pt off for price and granola)

I love açaí bowls and whenever I travel I always have to look up a place to grab a good one. We were in Point Loma area down in San Diego and found Northside. Wish I could pick this business up and move them down to Southern California. They have great açaí bowls and they don't skimp on the toppings. Lots of topping choices that you can get in your bowl but there are a few toppings you do have to pay extra for. The entire staff is friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend.

Stopped here for a bowl and loved it! We had dinner reservations at an Italian place for dinner so we were looking for something light and fruit-forward for lunch. The staff (Magdalena) was super helpful and friendly. I got a combo of the three different kinds of sorbet as well as the house works in terms of toppings (fruits, granola, coconut and more). For about $17 (large size), the portion size was incredible! So much sorbet and fresh fruit that they had to put plastic wrap on top to hold everything in place -- pretty legendary in my book! I had to ask for an extra plate to catch the inevitable fruit landslide as soon as I unwrapped it! I liked how it wasn't overly sweet and the ingredients were ultra fresh too. Also got an antioxidant smoothie which was great -- lots of fresh berries, banana and açai, not too sweet either. 100% will be back next time I am in San Diego!!!

This place is ridiculously amazing. Everything seems so good on the menu. We went there back to back days and about to make it back to back to back. It was our first time there yesterday and their server Alex was chill and kinda told us about the menu. We got a Acai bowl and a protein blend (smoothie). The fruits on the acai bowl were very fresh and sweet. And the smoothie was probably the best I've ever had. The place is a walk up with some seating on the outside. Service was generally pretty quick. I would eat there 8 out of the 7 days a week if I lived in SD.

I LOVE this place!! I stop whenever humanly possible. It is BY FAR the best place to get açaí. Their bowls are perfection and everyone that works there is helpful and always willing to make accommodations. I should write a longer review but I am drooling thinking of their açaí bowls now and need to go get one. Yummy!!
