Northeast Eating Club

Went there in their grand opening day, and had a great experience. We were seated most back in the restaurant, and were able to have a relatively private dinner, although the uncles next to us were quite loud (couldn't complain much, since the food was enough to make up to it).We ordered barbecue (chives, chicken, and beef), eggplant with pork, and sour cabbage with pork dumplings. Since it was grand opening, we got free house cabbage salad. The portion of the food was super solid, for the Boston standard. We basically had all these for two people and two meals. About the flavor, I'd say it is one of the most authentic Chinese food I've had in Boston (at least for northern Chinese food). The dumpling (sour cabbage and pork) is very rare especially this type of filling. And both me and my friend(from South Asia) enjoyed it. The eggplant and pork was also very authentic, and it happens to be saucy and sweet and flavorful. The service was prompt, and when we were checking out they even asked me if I enjoyed today's meal and if there is anything they can do better. I smiled and said that we were enjoying and had a good time here.If you want authentic northern Chinese food, I'd definitely recommend. Good service and good portion.

Now this is authentic Chinese food! Specifically northeast region of China. We came in as a party of 2 on a Friday early evening and were promptly seated. The ambiance is interesting and not what I'd expect from a Chinese eatery like this - it has underlying nightclub vibes with a pretty large bar to boot, but their food and menu is really what people come for. I think it's an interesting twist compared to many other similar Chinese restaurants in the area, but not sure how well received it might be for their target audience.On to the actual food -We got a pork dish with green peppers, a bean curd dish also with green pepper, and the stirfry noodle with sour cabbage - a very northeast style Chinese dish. All were excellent, lots of flavor and just a hint of spicy, as expected, but the comparing between the dishes they seemingly had very similar flavor profile. Perhaps they just used the same wok to cook all the dishes? tldr; excellent authentic Chinese food, great portions and flavor. Eat this Chinese food if you don't handle Mala or spicy very well!

Much needed variety in the Boston area Chinese food scene and it was so goood. Everything we had was delicious and super flavorful, from the blueberry yam to the bbq skewers. The portions were huge as well, and we had leftovers from everything except the bbq. I'm especially a big fan of the blueberry sauce on the yam - it was tart and not too sweet, and paired so well with the yam. I do wish there were more veggie dishes on the menu, just to better balance out our meal. The restaurant is aesthetically very nice and decorated in a traditional Chinese style. Our party of 4 was sat at a massive booth table that could probably fit 6-8. Service was quick and very friendly, and they could speak Cantonese which was a bonus. Overall highly recommend!

Food was very good. The peppers used in several of the dishes were rather spicy, fine for me as I enjoy heat in a dish but too much for my wife. Portions were sizable and delivered a good value in addition to flavor. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Interior was dark but good for couples.

Great food, great vibe. Staff were super nice and friendly. Busy on a Friday night. Not strictly northeastern food since I can see they are also trying to branch out to include more cuisines to accommodate a broader audience

What an amazing addition to the Chinese food scene to an already stacked Brookline neighborhood. Northeast Eating club specializes in dishes from the north east region of China with some other staple dishes found in other regions of China. The service was excellent to start off as they got us quickly seated at a clean table during a busy dinner service. Our table ordered multiple dishes including pig ears, Dongbei Guo bao ruo (crispy sweet and sour pork), and assorted veggies with egg plant. The pork dish was definitely the star of the show. Crispy yet juicy, tangy yet sweet. Absolutely delicious meat dish that everyone should try. Come check out the modern ambiance of North East Eating Club

There is authentic food from NE China. The dishes are rather salty for us. Although the ice cold water was also served constantly.

The space was so much bigger than I thought it'd be and I appreciated the elegant yet still casual ambiance. The fried shrimp was by far my favorite dish though the lamb skewers were a close second. Overall the food was quite tasty and well priced.

Excellent. More authentic than the other options in Brookline, more refined than the options in Allston. Reasonably priced. Good portions. Lots of great options and friendly service. Only slightly too garlicy. Very happy.
