Wife and I decided to try this spot. The food was amazing. Wife got the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and I got the Dean Martin pasta. Highly recommendgetting the garlic bread for appetizer. The server Lisa was a fantastic host, so very warm and welcoming. The place gives a jazzy vibe. If you're looking for a nice secluded spot this is the place to be.

What a true hidden gem!Nonno's is a humble, family-run restaurant specializing in familiar Italian food and deliver phenomenal service. The wine selection is also great!I visited on 7/12, ($10 off a bottle of wine for Wine Wednesdays)! I ordered the -Appetizers -Bruschetta - Garlic crostini served with fresh tomato, basil, shaved Parmesan cheese. It is a simple dish, yet so flavorful.Steamed Green Lipped Mussels - Madeira wine, fresh tomato and basil, and onions. The sauce pairs well with the mussels. I highly recommend asking for garlic bread and dip it into the sauce! Entree - Rigatoni bolognese - Italian sausage baked with onions, mushrooms, and provolone cheese in a creamy garlic marinara sauce. The sauce was flavorful, creamy, and not heavy at all. This is absolutely the best restaurant in San Diego. The service is amazing. We were lucky to get seated because they were full and only had 1 table available. Our waitress was personable and knew exactly what wine would pair well with our meal. Everything we ate was exceptional. We never order desert but figured we would try something because the food was so amazing and we were so glad we did. It was literally the best tiramisu we have ever had. Just quite literally amazing. We made reservations for another night before leaving! Can't wait to take some friends so they can try it too... only advise I can give is make sure to make a reservation in advance just in case they are fully booked because I did see them have to turn someone away because of a large party that came in prior so make a reservation!you will not be disappointed. I promise. I have been here so many times and every time is as good as the last!

This is a DINING EXPERIENCE! Nonno's is a wonderful Italian family run dinner spot. Lisa and the entire kitchen make you feel so welcome and catered to. It really feels like having dinner at your favorite family members home where you are the star. This location is small and also serves take out so it's extremely important to call ahead and make a reservation. I called on Friday around 4pm and made a 7pm reservation. Lisa took my name over the phone and remembered us when we arrived. Once seated they provide you with a basket of garlic bread that was delicious. Drinks and appetizers came quick and the pizza followed shortly. Lisa provided great recommendations for the pizza (anchovies on the side!) Coming to Nonno's makes you feel like you are transported into a little spot in Italy where the food is plenty and everyone has a friendly face. This place is truly a hidden gem.

My wife and I have been wanting to try this small La Mesa eatery fro some time and we finally did. We stopped in for lunch the other day and had an overall good experience.This is a hard working family business. On this day husband and wife were running the show alone. With approximately 2 dozen seats, about half were occupied. There is nothing exceptional about the ambiance but it is a small space. Despite possibly needing another wait person we felt that service was very thorough and attentive. For lunch we ordered the Shrimp Risotto which was spot on creamy deliciousness, topped with four perfectly cooked shrimp. Our second entree was Chicken Parmesan. The chicken was perfectly cooked but on the small side. My critique on their pasta sauce is that it contains too much oregano and over powers the dish. As a cook, I believe that when I comes to pasta sauce 'less' is ' more'! I firmly believe that the tomatoes should be the star in pasta sauce so, I prefer my sauce prepared with basil, which is more complimentary and less dominate. As I've said in other reviews, pasta sauce is very subjective so, some people may like this style....just not my style. I've heard that they serve up great sandwiches and pizza too so, I'll give that a try next time! I recommend this neighborhood spot in a strip mall in La Mesa

Tried here for the first time after my mom brought home some leftovers when she went for the first time with friends. The leftovers were delicious, I believe it was a spicy sauce with black linguine. Of course I had to come in to try while celebrating my friends birthday. Lisa was so kind and remembered me from taking my reservation. All the costumers were obviously regulars who all know Lisa and she knows them. The vibe was very comfortable, relaxed, and cozy. We were unrushed but constantly checked on!We ordered cheesy bread, tossed chicken pesto pasta, and chocolate moose cake. Usually chicken in pasta is dry but the chicken was so moisted and delicious. Everything was great and couldn't recommend more. We most definitely will be coming back!

I can always expect great food at Nonnos. Recently, I had another experience that reflects their honesty & integrity. I left my wallet at the cash register after picking up my order. Two days later, I realized what I had done. Even though the restaurant was closed for 2 weeks, they returned my call and met me there, so they could return my wallet! It had been locked in their safe. I owe them a debt of gratitude and better yet, my patronage for years to come.

We came across Nonno's Ristorante while searching for a venue to host a private engagement dinner. Unfortunately, the restaurant is rather small so we had to select a different restaurant. We decided to make it a point to try it out one day and we did. We were not disappointed. I had the Spicy Roma Shrimp and it did not disappoint. There was just enough spice and shrimp. The pasta was al dente and the sauce was full of flavor. The service was excellent. Based on the interaction of the waitress with the customers we could tell there were a lot of regulars. They were very busy which I always take as a sign that that the food is good. Give it a try! The 5 star review is based on what I ordered, service, and cleanliness.

Nonno's is a gem in a strip mall, and a great neighborhood find. Very, very nice menu, with plenty of options. Good sauces, good quality ingredients, the food is well prepared. Lisa, the host, makes us feel like family when we arrive. She's a delight.We love it because we can actually converse with our dining companions (what a concept!); in spite of its small size, it does not have the background din that most restaurants inflict on guests now. Big sigh of gratitude!I toggled between 4-5 stars, only because of the physical appearance (uhhhh...humble?!) and the fact that, in spite of it being hard-to-find-help, and minimum wages, and slim margins in the restaurant business, and Covid, they NEED MORE HELP.

I hosted a baby shower for 35 people and ordered sandwiches, antipasto salad, sausages, and meatballs, it was so delicious! It was so fresh and presented so beautifully. The staff was so friendly when we came in to order We got so many compliments. I will definitely be ordering from Nonno's again!!
