I love this farm to table restaurant! Nine-Ten has earned the Michelin Guide 2023 distinction led by chef Jason Knibb. They are open for brunch, lunch and dinner as well as having a bar where they hand craft cocktails and offer beautiful wines. I have yet to be there for dinner, but I'm sure I would love everything on the menu. They've got some cute dining areas both indoor in the parlor room as well as spots outdoors in the garden terrace which faces west overlooking their pool with views of the La Jolla Ocean. Also there is outdoor seating next to front entrance along Prospect Street. I thoroughly enjoyed each of the dishes we ate. Today we had a PAN ROASTED MAINE SEA SCALLOPSgreen garlic purée, roasted cippollini, broclinni, currants, vin juane... secondly, we also ordered ENGLISH PEA RISOTTOMorel mushrooms, shaved baby carrots, snap peas, herbs, breadcrumbs risotto with truffles and shredded carrots. The sprigs of mint and fresh green peas or snap peas complemented the sauces. Everything was scrumptious. We followed the lunch with a birthday celebration treat Which was a chocolate lava cake with a dollop of vanilla gelato. The waiters and staff were very attentive. Please visit if you're in the area.

Man this place is fancy! This would be a great date night place. It is located in a hotel, but the vibe definitely says otherwise. We had come on a weeknight, but the restaurant was not very busy. The bar is where all the action was.The food portions were tiny. As an average male, one entree barely filled me up. I wish this place offered some sort of bread, but you have to pay for it. All the dishes are plated very nicely, however.I came here for a birthday celebration and the staff had set up a birthday card on the table before I arrived! Nice little touch to remember the night! Staff was friendly and attentive.

The food here is delicious. I had the lamb loin and while it was gamey the pickled blackberries harmoniously worked together with the lamb. That being said probably some of the worst service I've had at a restaurant. The manager was extremely rude, he didn't make any eye contact, ignored are questions and walked away. We had a reservation at 7:45 and once our table was ready no one even let us know. We didn't sit until 8:10.Our waitress was a college age girl who was pleasant until we were just asking some simple questions at the menu. Even as she was walking away multiple members of our dinner saw her making negative remarks and facial expressions while walking away. A food runner also was most likely under the influence of something. We asked him what desserts he recommended and he almost panicked, couldn't answer the question, and walked away quickly. Very very strange lol not to mention our desserts were forgotten about.Overall I'm not sure I'll ever go here again. The food is good but the service...I don't want to deal with people like that when the tip is already included in our bill. For the sake of the amazing chef please put your staff in check!

This restaurant is located in La Jolla inside a hotel, it is a small quaint establishment. They have limited tables outside that require reservation, they do have bar seating that is available first come first serve. I was greeted by a nice hostess and taken to our seat early, the service was average in my opinion. Everyone was friendly yes but I was expecting a little bit more from a Michelin restaurant. The ambience is a bit fancy, but you still have hotel guest who might be dining and shorts and a T-shirt, or passing through while you're eating dinner. I wish this was a standalone restaurant so you wouldn't have that distraction. The food menu is quite small, the two stars of the show were jerk chicken and the Cacio e pepe. The salad that came out was quite frankly a joke, it was so tiny. I understand fine dining restaurants typically have smaller portions, but it wouldn't have hurt to put more lettuce on the plate. Well I didn't enjoy my experience this is not a place I would be running back to. When I compare to other five star experiences I've had this experience was just okay.

We were staying at Grand Colonial and checked out Nine-Ten. Modern decor and spacious. We ordered the Mercy of the Chef tasting menu. The amuse was asparagus/carrot with a hummus dressing, very refreshing. The hamachi sashimi with a ponzu vinaigrette was very delicious, very fresh. Seared scallops with a caviar sauce, so good, could have eaten a few more. The gnocchi with English peas in buttery sauce, very soft and tender not gummy at all. The meat course was smoked duck breast with asparagus, well cooked. The dessert was Pavlova over a strawberry sorbet, that was a new taste for me and glad I ate it. Overall a great dining experience, the entire staff was friendly and informative. I look forward to trying the menu in the future as our server mentioned it will change in 6 months.

I love Nine Ten, but this was not our top meal here. Very pleasant, we'll be back, but good not great.ATMOSPHERE: love the patio. Even on a cold night, the heaters kept us warm. Inevitably, there is someone at the big group table outside who is super loud and whose voice we hear all night LOL. But the tables are well spaced and it's a chill atmosphere for fine dining.COCKTAIL: Got the LAST NIGHT IN KYOTO. A whiskey sour with wine. Tasty! 4.5/5BREAD SERVICE: They have outstanding bread here, and the butter is great.APPETIZERS: I wish they kept the menus online more up to date because I'd decided on something that was gone - but the FIG AND FARRO SALAD was pretty good. Flavorful, not mind blowing. Sweetie got a SIMPLE GREEN SALAD which is off menu and he always asks for.MAINS: The tuna entree online looked really good, but had been replaced by VERLASSO SALMON with roe. It was a gorgeous presentation but not tremendously exciting, esp. for $42. I would look forward to getting something different next time. Sweetie also thought the kitchen was a little off tonight - maybe folks are off after Thanksgiving? His chicken was dryer than usual. But he did like the sweet potatoes that came with it.DESSERT: People doing Mercy of the Chef had a Jose Alonzo special with apples and miso caramel. That wasn't offered to folks doing a la carte. We shared some of the half baked chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, which has always been exceptional here. But I would have liked some more choices. After Thanksgiving I definitely didn't want anything with pumpkin, which was the theme of the vanilla bean cheesecake currently.SERVICE: It was ok tonight. Very friendly as usual. But the pacing seemed a little off because folks near us were doing the Mercy of the Chef. They had the plates coming out quickly. We had a longer pause between our appetizer and our mains, and sweetie was getting a little hangry! But even if this wasn't a meal where we need to tell everyone to come here, we still love Nine Ten and will be back. Just hoping our food has more flavor bombs and surprising combinations next time!

I stayed at the Grande Colonial and before checking out decided to try out their restaurant for breakfast - I had the French toast, it was very sweet but very good. I liked the presentation of it. Also ordered a side of eggs to accompany it. I would have given 5 stars but our waiter was not very attentive, we were waiting awhile to place our order because he was chatting with the other staff.

We had such a fantastic meal here on our short trip to SD.- Snap pea salad: This was recommended by our server because we were on the fence between this and the asparagus salad. It definitely felt like a Spring dish.- Lamb loin: I'm usually not a fan of lamb because it tastes too earthy to me. However, my husband convinced me to get it to share, and I'm somewhat glad he did. On one hand, it was very delicious and made me rethink how I feel about lamb. On the other, how can I ever eat it anywhere else when Nine-Ten made it so perfectly delicious? The restaurant can get quite loud, but we didn't mind it too much. We enjoyed the ambiance and felt our server was friendly and attentive. Can't wait to visit again!

4.5/5 stars My server Jacob was wonderfully knowledgeable and professional. Provided great menu recommendations and makes a tasty cocktail. Portions are much smaller than you may expect, particularly with the salads. Over in 5 bites! The quality is definitely gourmet, however.
