Waki Sushi has just become my new favorite East Bay sushi dine in spot.It has been a while since I've been wowed by so many items. Just when I didn't think anything can beat that sake and shiro maguro filled nori taco, the Fish Lover roll came out. It must be divine if the o-toro nigiri which is excellent isn't even my favorite thing I tried. The Fish Lover roll was so fresh, it just melted in my mouth that I had to order a second. The classic Waki's Tasting sampler and Chawanmushi rounding off the dinner was so satisfying that I didn't even mind the omakase is no longer offered.I was back a month less than 2 months later with my foodie relatives from Boston for more of our faves and to try their blue fin tuna kama, brotherhood, godzilla, lion king rolls and a sample of their seasonal summer menu.Having a rotating seasonal menu in addition to their regular will keep me coming back.

Acts and charges like a premier sushi restaurant but delivers like an average sit-down. Very slow to seat us. The chairs are very uncomfortable, no space for knees at the bar, and the staff took 30m to take our order. The fish to rice proportions were off, too much rice. Rice was not great. Fish was ok. Uni was flavorless. Nothing better than your local random sushi place. Very overpriced.

Nice comfy place. The place is small but it executes the job well done with Japanese food. Intimate yet modern. The service is very direct, has no issues nor it was significantly memorable. The food does a good job with sushi rolls and having specialty's. Rainbow and 49er roll were very fresh and flavourful. Lion king takes time but so savoury and yum. Water is given complimentary. Their curry is so yum and fresh. It's nice to come here from time to time such as an event, birthday, or a nice treat. I'd come back and I recommend. Bus access is AC Transit numbers 20, 51A, and letter O. Bike parking is near

First time here and it won't be my last time. Came here with a friend on a Saturday night. From the service to the food, it was an amazing experience. Waitress was very attentive and always checking if we need anything. This is a street parking area only. I got lucky and parked in the front of the restaurant. We ordered oysters, hamachi carpaccio, Niners roll, salmon belly, scallops, and some other roll. Everything was so good and so fresh. Will definitely come back and try other options from the menu.

For some reason I'm heavily addicted to the pho here. This is the one place I can go to have pho back to back. It's always clean inside the establishment and the servers are always friendly. The bahn mi sandwiches are phenomenal the bread is always so soft and the meat and cooked to perfection.

Superb food and great service, a great place to visit. My favorite sushi wold be Fish Lovers, containing albacore and avocado, then topped with salmon and hamachi, spicy mayo and tobiko. This covers all your bases in a tiny package. My second favorite would be Godzilla. Spicy tuna deep fried then covered with spicy mayo and unagi sauce, who wouldn't pass up deep fried anything.Third, the brotherhood would be my next choice, spicy tuna, then topped with seared albacore with ponzu sauce, is fantastic. Finally, an item that is actually cook that I ate was the tuna kama. The skin is slightly charred, and yet the interior is moist and flakey. This could easily be a full meal or shared with three people.I will have to return to try non-sushi items, but a great menu to explore.Service was prompt and they answered all of my questions. The food came out fairly quick and the noise level was about average. Parking meters end at 6pm, and you can generally find parking on Central Ave.

The spot we wanted to go to was closed and this was the next closest to us. The restaurant was pretty filled when we walked in but luckily they had a few tables available because I was starving. We pretty much ordered what we would normally order at any sushi spots: the available nigiris, sushi roll, sushi tacos, appetizers. Everything we ordered was just okay... nothing special about it and it didn't wow me, except the ankimo appetizer. That was the best dish we had there. So good we ordered it again at the end BUT it was disappointing the second time. The ankimo was very cold and hard compared to the first order which was soft and creamy. The fish didn't really taste fresh and didn't have much flavor. The roll we ordered was topped off with way too much deep fried bread crumbs and just made the whole roll taste way too oily. The sushi taco tasted stale and old.. Service was okay as well. They forgot my wasabi and finally gave me some after a few asks. They didn't refill our waters nor did they check up on us.

Came here on my birthday as I was craving sushi and hadn't tried Waki yet. We passed by it many times as we used to go to Yokohama, so thought it would be good to try Waki since Yokohama closed. We ended up coming for a second time very recently, so this review is a combination of two visits two weeks apart. Staff and service: - First visit: we came on a Friday with a 7:00pm reservation. The reservation wasn't really honored because "everyone had a reservation". We sat at the bar and looked at the menu while we waited for a table to open up. The staff were all under water and seemed very frazzled - Second visit: we came on a Saturday evening around 6:30pm and it was so calm compared to our previous visit. The staff were calm and able to help more. Food and Drinks:- House Salad: we were expecting the small salad with iceberg lettuce and miso dressing that many Japanese restaurants serve. This was a very large salad with a sesame oil-based dressing. It wasn't bad, but we were also expecting something much smaller - Small green salad: this is the salad we wanted and finally identified it for our second visit. - 49er roll: the crab is a little wonky and compact, so not as delicious as I was hoping. Roll was good overall.- Sake nigiri: I really enjoyed this nigiri and ordered it for both visits - Lamb Chop: I don't eat lamb, but this smelled really good. My friend who ordered it would have ordered for it to be cooked just a tad more, but thought it was good overall- Oysters: fun dish to share. Topped with ponzu sauce and tobiko- Hamachi Carpaccio: refreshing, tasty, flavorful. Little hard to pick up the hamachi with the avocado, but we made it work!- Niku Korokke: I prefer vegetarian Korokke, but this was still goodMiscellaneous:- Parking is available via street parking- Good for one or two-person parties at the bar, two to eight-person parties at a table - Definitely recommend making a reservation if you can (hopefully it's honored) if coming during a busy time. Reservations can be made on Yelp! - You will receive a shot of Calpico in a sake cup with your bill :)

I enjoyed the food here. The tuna was so fresh, and the place had a nice ambiance, but sitting was a little slow. I will return.
