Verve Coffee

So glad to have a Verve at the Meta campus! The staff is always extremely friendly and they make the best pour overs (:

Verve? The name should be the "NERVE." The beautiful setting is not offset by the rude and Earth unfriendly service, poor coffee quality and extraordinarily expensive pricing. There's no place else out here and add round trip Uber cost to get to the nearest real breakfast restaurant or cafe and you get around the same price. So I made the mistake of trying this place twice. Yup, shame on me for being fooled twice. A poorly executed cappuccino and a croissant (actually pretty good) will set you back $20 with tip (I had to tip, they had no change). It's hard to believe this place is in California, she threw my order into disposable bags each time even though I said I would be eating in the place and there were clean plates stacked up within her easy arms reach. So the first time I ended up stuck eating and drinking wasting paper and plastic containers and then realizing there are no recycle disposal receptacles anywhere inside, or even nearby. The second time although I didn't act fast enough to stop my croissant from ending up in a disposable bag I managed to stop her from using a disposable coffee cup, again they have stacks of china coffee cups and saucers right above the espresso machine. This changed her gears from surly to unpleasant. Her words were still polite but tone of voice, body language, angry slamming of stuff and in case I thought I was imagining it, she gave me my poorly prepared cappuccino in a china cup without bothering to give me the saucer. I guess that part is self serve but at these prices I do expect service at least at the Starbucks level. Absolutely don't order the coffee here or at the connected Porta Blu (they just walk over and get the coffee from here) as unless you are very lucky the coffee will be hours old. It also has that acrid taste of a place that isn't regularly cleaning the coffee prep equipment adequately to remove the acid build up. This place is so bad I changed my original plans of relaxing after check out to get some work done here. This place is so bad I not only won't ever return here, I'm avoiding all Verve locations forever. Unless you have some serious self-esteem problems or masochistic tendencies, you should too.

Fantastic coffee! Slim breakfast offerings, croissant sando and bagel with salmon were both a little dry but, the waffle was fantastic (ordered a side of bacon to go with) food is always super fresh.

Very knowledgeable staff and a good selection of coffee beans and brewing methods. The place clean and they also have a good number of brewing equipment for sale.

I love the hotel, but worst ever coffee shop I have ever been to. Bland coffee and horrific cappuccino! Had to get my car and go find something. Super disappointing as I did not want to leave.
