Umi is a solid spot for drinks but we really come here for the snacks they sell! Their croquettes and shrimp pops are really good and always piping hot. The croquettes are potato with a little corn and I think some carrots? The shrimp pops are like butterflied shrimp that are deep fried and super crispy. The curry katsu also isn't too bad!

Such a peaceful/chill ambiance.I had vegetable Ramen waiting on the traffic to die down. Straightforward and timely service. This place is versatile. Could just be a quick stop for a drink or stay for a while with a friend.

The service here was really good and the staff were very polite and kind. The store has a nice calming atmosphere and is kept very clean. I got the chicken curry which had a pretty good serving size. There were also a good variety of drinks. I got the Vietnamese latte which had the perfect amount of sweetness.

Tired Umi Tea and wasn't that impressed, ordered the basics, House Black Milk Tea and some Popcorn Chicken. The House Black Milk Tea was decent, but the boba itself was not. It was kinda hard and not soft and chewy, might have been sitting a while. The Popcorn Chicken was overly baked, and not your traditional Taiwanese style with the fried Basil you'd see at other places. It was also quite expensive at $10.25. I'm not sure if I'd recommend this place. Kind of a hidden place as well. The service was fine, and not much ambiance.

Overall experience was a bit disappointing. We came here twice and only once were they actually open, even though we were there during their open hours per their door and per help. So pretty disappointing there. The one time that we were there and ordered, their pricing on the menu was different from what they were charging us. When I pointed that out, the owner just shrugged and said, "yeah, our price increased." Nothing else. I mean, by that point, you'd do something as act of concession right? Rather than shrugging it off and essentially saying, "oh well, so sad, to bad". That kind of attitude really isn't a way to run a business. Also their popcorn chicken just looks weird, very different from standard popcorn chicken you'd expect and get anywhere else. The taste also isn't on par as it tastes like the batter is wrong. There was no basil flavor anywhere. Something about their popcorn chicken that doesn't seem right. Their drinks are okay, but overall, menu is a bit pricey.

Pretty neat little find here! Umi Tea seems to be sharing the space with the ramen shop next door, but they have their own window for ordering. This plaza that they're located in is pretty small, but they got their own parking lot, so no need to worry about not being able to find a spot. When we arrived, it was actually pretty empty. Umi Tea is located right at the end of the alley (if you walk from the parking lot). Otherwise if you're reaching this spot from the sidewalk, it's located right down the stairs. Originally, we thought we had their hours wrong because they had a 'closed' sign! But thankfully, they just closed for a bit because one of their workers (or maybe the only worker today) walked out for a bit. Thankfully, they opened their ordering window for us. I guess they kind of heard us from inside or we just hit the right timing! I opted for their Grapefruit Guava. One of their recommended drinks and for a good reason I'd say! I usually opt for no sugar because I think natural sweetness of real fruits are enough for me, but the server/cashier said they don't do sugar in their drinks (I think? Maybe I heard wrong, but I'm glad there's a no sugar option either way). Their sign says default sweetness is 25%, so I'm a little confused. I think this guy may have been the only guy handling everything because another party came after us, but no one else came to handle the cash register. That party ended up calling to place their order, which was a tad funny. As for my drink, it was quite refreshing! I tasted more grapefruit than guava, but you can definitely taste both inside the drink. Because it's naturally sweetened by the fruits inside, it's not overly sweet, so perfect for me! Good size drink too! Too bad they ran out of Goji Berry Long'an, otherwise I think I would try that one since it sounds more unique! Next time though!

Just an fyi for those referring to Yelp for this location's hours - it is closed on Sundays. It would be helpful if that was updated on this page. Will try next time!

Umi Tea is a literally a boba stand, you ordered through the window in an alleyway of a plaza. There is plenty of shared parking in the plaza, so that is a plus. It may be easily missed if you are not looking for it. I was feeling basic, so I tried their House Black Milk Tea with honey boba and Jasmine Green Milk Tea with honey boba. The black milk tea was a bit strong and the cream/milk taste was subtle, while the green milk tea was lighter on the tea taste, but more watered down tasting. The boba itself was super chewy, soft, and sweet which overpowered the green milk tea a bit.

I'm really disappointed with the drinks that we got here... I had really high hopes since they had a cute logo and there were so many promising reviews.I came for National Boba Day and my friends wanted to have a little get together to celebrate. I came during the afternoon and ordered a good list of drinks: Lychee Green Tea, Strawberry Green Tea, Goji Berry Long 'an, Passionfruit Mango Green Tea, and a couple Uji Matcha Lattes.* The fruit teas were all okay. Nothing special. There was a very slight subtle tea taste... Mainly just tasted like fruit-flavored water to be honest. * The Goji Berry Long 'an was my favorite. Really refreshing! Pretty flavorful and loved the fruit bits.* The Uji Matcha Lattes didn't have a strong matcha taste and seemed watered down.* I was NOT a fan of the Umi Matcha Pudding... It tasted really bland, not sweet, and chalky. It was not custard-like or flavorful at all.Overall, I'm pretty bummed that our drinks were less than medicore and not really enjoyable. My friends and I all agreed that each drink was not reaching our expectations... and we ended up going to another boba place to quench our cravings. Side note: the customer service was not bad! You order at a cute window in an alley way across the street from Ohlone College. The cashier was pretty nice, but seemed frantic that I had a big order... which is understandable for a small business!

Ramen was pricey and tasted like instant ramen you can make at home for a few dollars. Save your money!!Mochi was frozen and hard was not able to chew on it like regular stretchy chewy mochi. When the mochi defrosted it melted into a blob texture. Disgusting. Food took a while to make and everything was overpriced. Curry did not taste authentic and was expensive as well took them two minutes to make the instant curry from a little can after they got my order wrong when we waited a while for the food. Not good you can always make this at home nothing was freshly made.
