Craving and looking for some comfort & sit-down Filipino cuisine in Union City that's just off the Nimitz?! Don't trek too far from the exit, as this location is as convenient as it can be - with ample parking & an ambient/spacious dining atmosphere that awaits you & your loved ones!Order the crispy pata ($19.99) -- deep-fried pig foreleg -- and you'll be greeted with a platter of bones, one that resembles a ham hock and another curious set that my friends and I reasoned must form a porcine heel (which our waiter confirmed). It's not for the squeamish. But the meat clinging to the bones is delicious, the cartilage delightfully chewy. A soy-vinegar-garlic dipping sauce heightens the meaty flavor without taking over.Typical of Filipino cuisine, the restaurant is a carnivore's delight: Meat, poultry or seafood makes an appearance in every item on the menu except the rice and desserts. You have to have a feast every time that you must dine here!A glorious way to kick off the meat parade is with the pork sisig appetizer ($12.99), pig face that's been roasted, grilled, then chopped fine. The cartilage lends a great al dente texture, and the lemon wedge that accompanies it cuts the fat. Eat it quickly, though: It congeals as it cools.Lumpiang Shanghai ($8.99), finger-size egg rolls, are crisp and full of flavor from the shrimp-pork-onion filling, though the sweet chili dipping sauce was a little too sweet.Sinigang ($12.99 - Pork / $17.00 - Bangus) is a comforting potage of meat, eggplant, tomatoes, radish and green beans in a clear broth soured with tamarind. The Filipino palate favors sour, so medium-sour was quite tart, but the beef is tender, the vegetables nicely cooked.Tribu's Adobo ($12.99) is a relatively dry version of the Philippines' national dish, with luscious chunks of pork and chicken coated with well-balanced vinegar, soy and pepper. Inihaw na Bangus ($18.99) arrives grilled & well-done, & well-cooked fillet of milkfish -- considered the Philippines' national fish -- in a soy-lemon marinade.Dinner is balanced by a few vegetable stews and salads, including pinakbet ($13.99), a lightly sauced, pleasant melange of kabocha squash, eggplant, green beans and bitter melon. For a meal-in-a-bowl, try binagoongan fried rice ($11.99 - small, $18.99 - large), rice mixed with fermented shrimp paste and topped with scrambled egg, fried pork, fresh tomatoes and mangoes. The sweet mango, salty rice and crispy pork work together well. The muskiness of the shrimp paste caught me off guard, but by the end of the bowl I was loving it.Desserts at Tribu Grill stay the course. Its Filipino sundae, or halo-halo ($7.49), is a fun jumble of textures and flavors from crunchy shaved ice, creamy ube (purple yam) ice cream, toothsome sweet beans, sticky caramel and firm gelatin cubes.Unlike many restaurants serving lesser-known cuisines, Tribu Grill makes itself accessible to outsiders. Its decor is welcoming, with huge windows overlooking the hustle & bustle of Union Landing, cheery orange and yellow walls, and an open kitchen. The menu describes the dishes well, and servers are friendly and patient about answering questions from non-Filipinos. Sometimes, however, they're a bit too laid-back. Once our plates of different entrees sat on our table until after dessert arrived; on another night, we had to flag down a waitress to receive our bill, and get checked out. While Tribu Grill, to its credit, doesn't let U.S. influences water down its cuisine, there is one way the restaurant is quintessentially American: It offers huge portions. Nearly every party leaves their table with a few meals' worth of fine Filipino fare. Come hangry & leave happy!

We love coming here for our family celebrations. It was a Thursday night, not packed at all maybe 1-2 other parties in the room but this place is very spacious! It's been a few years since we've had it but I remembered it just like before and wasn't disappointed. Now they're currently doing large family specials that feed 4-5 people! We ordered a good amount and still came home to many leftovers. I was pleasantly surprised with the chicken skewers, and was glad to know the bagoong rice with lechon kawali was still a hit. Other favorites were the sisig, pork skewers, and tilapia. It felt as though the food just kept on coming. Thank you to the kind women who served my party of 8 last night, it was a great time!

This place definitely has improved! The food is delicious! Portion sizes are worth it & is not overpriced like all the other Filipino Restaurants around the area. Highly recommend this place over Gerry's Grill & Toppings any day. Will be coming back atleast once a week from now on

There's no nice way to put it: Tribu is such an EXTREMELY POOR representation of Filipino food and culture, that I'm outright embarrassed.Beef steak- hard, dry cardboard like beef. The sauce tastes solely of soy sauce. No lemon/calaminsi/ citrus flavor. The appearance confirmed it all- old food. Pieces of the beef has that crusted top that you could tell it was sitting out and it wasn't submerged in the sauce. The lumpia wasn't ever real lumpia. It was frozen generic eggrolls. Palabok had ZERO flavor. No amount of lemon or calamansi could save it. Sisig- terrible. All that bbq- hard, old tasting meat bathed in thick sweet sauce to make matters worse. They had a good deal on one of the delivery apps. It seems like they used that as an excuse to dump their food on us. Bad business. Waste of money. It's not anywhere near mediocre or standard, as that would be a compliment to this place. I'm still shocked that they would want to feed people with the atrocity they call food.

We came in on a Saturday night and our server Azucena S was able to take care of us right away. The service was great and everything came out very quickly and on top of that the food tasted amazing.

Not the best Filipino restaurant go eat at. We haven't eaten here in years so wanted to give it a try. Disappointed. Food was clearly not fresh. I checked in through Yelp and received a coupon for a free drink. They did not honor it and said it was old. I literally just received the coupon when I walked in and checked in. We ate there during dinner time. Got there at 5:30pm and left at 6. We were the only people eating there. The place is very nicely decorated though with Filipino memorabilia and TVs. Customer service needs major help.

Sweetest waitresses, good food, reasonable prices, and a clean restaurant! The prices here are almost half the price compared to Gerry's and they give you double the amount of food. Wish they had some music! Hopefully bring back the the bands!
