I took myself on a solo lunch date, and stopped by The Diner of Los Gatos for the first time in about 5 years. Yadira was my server and holy crap was she incredible!! She has such a warm smile and sweet personality and always checked on me throughout the duration of my meal to make sure I was doing alright. I ordered a shake to go and she even offered to keep it in the dessert fridge for me so it would stay nice and cold. The atmosphere is a throwback to a 1950's inspired diner and I'm loving the groovy music and interior design. Booths are nice and squishy, the restaurant is very clean, and prices aren't too bad. For my burger, drink, and shake it was about $28.

Honestly the saddest $60 breakfast me and my partner have had. I ordered a California omelette with fruit because I'm on keto and asked the fruit be reduced to apples. Well, I got maybe half an apple for my extra $1.75. the omelette wasn't much better, either they used small eggs or managed to make a 1.5 egg omelette, and it was so unmasterfully cooked that it had browning all over (including the inside??) and was more like a scramble, just masked by a large scoop of either sour cream or crema. My partner ordered chicken and waffles, which was apparently a medium sized waffle served with a pretty small chicken thigh. I had also ordered a side of chicken apple sausage at $7 which seems crazy, but they didn't know they were out until the food was being given to us. But that time the card was charged and tip given so they gave the $7 back in cash... That means they got to keep the tax and the extra tip my partner had remorse over. In the end this was a $60 SNACK and the smileys on the takeout boxes felt like insult to injury... :((( Nice thought whoever drew those, sorry it didn't work to make this food any better. We went to The Cats later that day and got maybe 8X the food for $10 less. So to recap:Food quantity/price: -2starFood quality: -1starAccommodation for low carb/diabetic: -1starWillingness to fix their mistake via same payment method: -0.5starI'd apparently give them a 0.5 rating if I could, going by the above, it soured our moods for a chunk of the day and we still ended up going to Safeway to find something to finish filling our bellies.

It is rather retro, perhaps in a rather forced overembellished way.We came here for a later lunch, 1:45, and there were a few patrons. There's a variety of seating, counter, booth, or chairs. We opted for a booth, but it was so uncomfortably low to the table (we felt like little kids) that we moved immediately to a nearby table and chairs.Service brought menus right away, but it took some time to get water and asked about drinks. We were presented the menus, and the server took off, pronto. The menu is extensive enough for any meal, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Yet, it very much is a typical middle-of-the-road diner, with the usual fare. I opted for a burger, the "Blue Moon Burger," charbroil (when have you seen that last). It comes with melted blue cheese and grilled mushrooms. Lettuce, tomato, and sliced pickle on the side, and I got it with fries. The meal was tasty enough, but the burger was difficult to eat. The bun was so soggy that the entire thing fell apart and impossible to pick up and eat. I had to fork and knife it, which was most unfortunate. It literally was a mess. Burgers, as good as this could have been, shouldn't fall apart. The fries were run of a mill, not bad.My dining partner had the Cajun Chicken Sandwich, and it looked wonderful. I had an ice tea for my drink.Service was OK, yet you could tell it was downtime for them.Overall, the experience was OK, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

A local favorite. Love the old-school diner vibe. Service is consistently good and the food is all around comfort. Love going for brunch after the rush. Faves include Country Breakfast, BYO omelet, Chunky Monkey Waffle (no chocolate chips) and eggs bennies. I always get a milkshake before leaving.

Excellent patty melt and fries. Milkshake was pretty good too. One is enough to split between two people. Wait staff super friendly and nice.

A great recreation of a 1950's diner. The decor is well done, complete with an old Jukebox and some tables even having Jukebox remotes (where you select your song right from the table). Unfortunately, while the jukebox exterior appears to be an antique, I saw digital readouts inside of it, so it is not a 1950's mechanism. However, it still looks great. The seating is at the counter, tables, or booths, all of which look they came through a time warp from the 1950s. There is a menu with a large selection of "diner" food, mostly sandwiches, burgers, and breakfast items. As expected, the prices are modern (one can always hope for old-fashioned prices :-) ). My wife had the patty melt, which she enjoyed. Although she thought that the "medium rare" she ordered was only cooked to "rare". I had the Grilled Chicken Spinach Salad, which was tasty and had slices of grilled chicken over spinach, with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing and topped with lots of blue cheese crumbles, tomatoes, dried cranberries and apple slices. The portions were generous. We each took half a portion home and had it for dinner. The service could have been more attentive. A few times, we had difficulty in getting the waitress' attention to get coffee refills.

Burger & Fries: A fresh-tasting, greasy burger, cooked perfectly medium rare with very good crispy fries.Liver & Onions: OK, but not wonderful.Service was great, and we ate outside because the inside was too noisy for us.We would go back here.
