The Long Bar & Bistro is located inside the Courtyard Marriott in Los Altos. I'm always leery about hotel food, but this restaurant bucks the trend. The Teriyaki Salmon Salad with Mixed Greens & Sesame Ginger Dressing was fresh and delicious, with salmon that was perfectly cooked. The salmon fish tacos came with a light and smokey sauce, with tomatoes, and a choice of tortilla. They didn't skimp on the salmon - lots of big chunks laying on a soft tortilla. The Fish n Chips they claim is one of their best sellers, and it's easy to see why. The coating on the cod was crisp, and flaky, but not at all greasy. The chips (aka fries) were fluffy and meaty "steak fries." The tarter sauce added just the right zip, and the cole slaw was the perfect accompaniment. Service today was great. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the food came quickly. The atmosphere is casual but nice. For hotel food, the Long Bar and Bistro is a win.

Came here for dinner around 8 pm, restaurant wasn't very busy except for a few diners here and there. Since it's connected to a hotel, the place was very tidy and elegant, had plenty of places to sit, TVs, and even an outdoor area. I decided to go with the Chicken Pot Pie, which came with an side of fries (plus ketchup) and a little coleslaw salad. The price wasn't bad, and the chicken pot pie was actually pretty big. However, I didn't like that the top part was super flaky and dry, it tasted burnt. And the filling was too soupy and buttery, there was barely any chicken, or even veggies, inside. Overall it wasn't awful, but it's probably just not their specialty. Of course I had to get dessert, which definitely did not disappoint! The Banana Pudding was delicious, especially with caramel drizzled over it and generous amounts of whip cream. I will totally order this one again!

Having been a foodie for most of my life, one thing I don't do is eat at hotel restaurant. I am snobbish that way. If you look at my food reviews, I got to prominent and highly rated restaurants to do food tasting.I was pretty surprised after eating here. I was looking for French food and it popped up on Yelp search. The only thing French here is French onion soup and French fries... wait, fries isn't even a French thing... duh!French onion soup - EXTRAORDINARY!!! I not only made my own French onion soup but I got around the world and always order French onion soup when they have it. This onion soup is legit... to American taste. French onion in France is very salty but also not make like this with much less cheese and frankly, you find most French restaurant in France doesn't have baked French onion soup. However, the soup is a bit on the sweet side. It would have been better to be less sweet. Nonetheless, for Americans' taste, sweet is what they prefer. Good Gruyere cheese. Baked to perfection. That's the key, it has to be brown or it won't have the proper aroma.French fries - I noticed people are raving about the fries and sure enough, one of the best fries I have had.Steak - I forgot if it was skirt steak but it was so amazingly tender and flavorful, just like other reviews stated. The mash potatoes were a bit on the heavy cream side.Pork Chop - The first couple of bites were quite juicy and impressive, not sure why as I continue, the pork chop seems to be a bit dry. I think it may be the lack of flavor since pork chop is thick and hard to absorb any marinate flavor. I suggest some gravy on the side. All in all, it was delicious and surprisingly from a restaurant in a hotel but one thing which there isn't much the hotel can do is the atmosphere. The restaurant is kind of open to the lobby, without much decor which its atmosphere feels like a hotel lobby cafe. If they wood it up and darken it a bit, make it like a traditional steak house style, the mood will be very different and the feel of it can become more like an upscale restaurant!Believe it or not, I will be back for the fish and chip and more French onion soup!

This restaurant is right across the street from our hotel and it's inside the Marriott. Very impressive restaurant, for a hotel, it was absolutely fantastic. Service was impeccable, one girl was running the bar area dining room and also the main dining room, we sat in the bar area my son and I. We ordered French onion soup for our appetizers and the Cherasco steak with mashed potatoes and vegetables for dinner. It was super cool cause they gave you a basket of fried potato chips. The French onion soup was absolutely delicious. Very well done. When I got the dinner, it looked like they had cut the steak too soon and did not let it rest enough because my potatoes and veggies were sitting in blood. I know how to cook a steak, it only bleeds that much when it's cut way too soon, that chef should've known that, that is why I am not giving five stars. Food was absolutely delicious and I had two dirty martinis and my son had a beer and a cocktail. Or dessert my son and I shared a lava cake, with ice cream, there was no lava to the cake at all, that was sad. All in all very good service the girl was fantastic. The bartender and his helpers were also fantastic, very nice restaurant. You can tell a lot of locals go there. Very impressed.

No air conditioning. From talk in the room, it sounds like this is a repair that just hasn't happened. I love this place, but in a heat wave - not so much! Be forewarned, it's hot in there!!!

When we went yesterday (8/15/2024) the bar (Happy Hour food) menu was completely different than what was online. Here is the link to what is online- https://modules.marriott.com/resourcefiles/paocy-courtyard-palo-alto-los-altos-62914-main/courtyard-happy-v12-1-abc.pdfNONE of the items in the online menu were available, and so we were very disappointed.

This place is always my go to when in town. Love the atmosphere and vibe of this place. Most of the staff are so darn friendly and its amazing how they remember you. Others can be incompetent and not know how to do their job right especially when redeeming food and drink vouchers. Big shoutout to Malia, Mae, Juan Jose, & Tania at the bistro! These individuals make me come back with their true hospitality. There is plenty of seating in the restaurant and outdoor as well.

Our hotel recommended we come here b/c it was one of the nearest restaurants. We started off kinda rough b/c we sat ourselves and there was no one to direct us. We were brought menus by a very kind lady, I believe her name was Abi. She was very friendly. But then no one was coming to take our order. Our drinks took quite a while to arrive and we had view of the bar as well. I try to give folks the benefit of the doubt when things seem to be taking a while but eventually I had to ask how much longer on our drinks, so you know it was a while. Our food took even longer to come out but it was okay b/c they had complimentary potato chips for us to snack on. But then when we finished that, we were getting pretty hungry. I could see they were piling up the to-go orders near the bar so that seems to be their priority. We left around closing (11pm) and those orders were still sitting there when we left.My steak on my salad was sliced and I could see it was well done when I had asked for medium rare. I told Pancho and he tried to tell me b/c it's marinated, there's no way they could get it medium rare but would tell the kitchen so I set my well done steak aside and continued eating. A while passed, again, and I asked a different server about the status of my steak and she went to check. She brought it and immediately the color was much better with a pink center, so it was possible after all :) The flavor on the steak was very good and paired well w/the salad. Hubby agreed the flavor on the steak was very good. However, my mom's margarita was not good. I had a sip and it was very watered down and tasted like lemon water. We told Pancho at the end of the dinner b/c he asked how everything was and he said he would bring my mom another one to make up for it or bring us a dessert. It was kinda late at 10PM and we were about to leave but decided to take him up on his drink offer. The 2nd margarita was SO much better (I had a sip) and could taste the alcohol. He said perhaps this bartender was on break at the time of the 1st one and someone else made it. The ambiance was calm and relaxing. Parking was free underneath the hotel.

Clean and modern interior. Very courteous wait staff. Food is solid. Fish and Chips were nicely fried; not overdone inside but perfectly crispy and flaky outside. I can say the same for the fries. Perfect texture; not greasy. Their Linguine Arrabbiata with Chicken pasta was delicious. I loved their French Onion Soup. Light broth and topped with cheesy goodness. I appreciate that the soup was not as salty as most French Onion Soup served at other restaurants.
