We have been eye-balling this place for awhile now and haven't gone in because of the wait, but today was the day! We were seated right away, no wait! The restaurant is clean and bright, with a casual ambiance. Our waiter was perfectly attentive (not too much, not too little). Everything came out quickly and was very tasty. The churro waffle was a big hit with the teens at the table! The Melon Smash was interesting, not what I would have expected! We will be back!

If you're going to call yourself a breakfast spot, you should probably be able to cook eggs probably. Ordered an eggs Benedict and my eggs both came out hard boiled. Also, they put cantaloupe directly on top of your hash browns without letting you know. I HATE cantaloupe so I was pretty annoyed. The service was fast but they weren't very friendly. Just enough to get the job done. I might try this place one more time but the food I ordered just wasn't that great but I'll give it one more chance.

If they were filming a training video about how to irritate a customer and ensure that they never return, I didn't see the cameras. From the start, our visit was a disaster. We were seated quickly at the bar. You know- the one that had not yet been cleared from the previous diners. BTW, we were handed menus, and pointed in the general direction of the bar. When the bartender finally noticed us, he asked for our drink order. A blind man could have seen the the bar had not yet been cleaned, but not this guy. When our coffee finally arrived (much later), we asked for spoons. His reply? Your utensils will come with your meal. About that time, he took notice of the mess we were facing, and came around the bar to wipe down the bar and remove the dishes still there. My wife told him that we needed spoons to stir our coffee. He directed someone in the staff to bring us spoons. About 10 minutes later, a young lady who was English challenged brought us a spoon....1 spoon! I was already about to blow a gasket, so my wife intervened and asked for another spoon. I had to repeat the request in Spanish. She subsequently returned with another spoon. We placed our food orders, with the bartender barely paying attention to us. My wife requested extra butter when she ordered. I told her to watch and see; she would have to order the butter again. The food arrived, and as predicted, no butter. My wife asked the young lady who brought the food for butter for her coffee cake, and her reply was one for the ages. She told her that there was already butter in the cake. We were stunned! I told her (in Spanish) to please bring additional butter. She acknowledged my request, and left the bar. She never returned. As time passed the bartender noticed that we were clearly waiting for something else. When asked, we reminded him about the butter. He did take note of my tone, however. He returned shortly, with the butter in hand. I then reminded him about the utensils, which he promptly provided. As a side note, he had a conversation going on with the guy seated next to me the whole time we were there. Of course, it was in Spanish. Unbeknownst to them, I understood them. Apparently they never noticed my interactions with the staff. Here in California, one would be wise to assume that anyone around you might understand what you are saying. That aside, the saga continued. I have never seen such a miserable display of apathy by the service staff in my life. The food wasn't bad; we enjoyed our meals. We did not enjoy our experience there. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. Their apathy about service will probably come back to haunt them. They might consider the laundry list of restaurants that have failed in that building. It could be an eye opener. I miss Val's...

Nice addition to Castro Valley!! Cute decoration and nice furniture. Their menu is very interesting plus the full bar. We had steak Rancheros and crab cake Benny with hash brown and they were so tasty! Unfortunately service could have been more attentive. We had to wait a while before ordering. It was supposed to be a female server but she had to take a break so a male server came to take order instead. After ordering, he only came to refill coffee one time ( plus we had to ask for coffee spoon) ... never checked back. After we were done, no one cared to ask if we needed a check so I had to put my wallet and card on the table. We did not get any 'Thank you' at all. Although it was not the end of the world but I felt like it would have been great to acknowledge your customers.

This is the kind of place you drive by and think "wow it's really busy, they must be good". It is.Everything on their (surprisingly large) menu is fantastic. The scrambles, the bennys, the chicken and waffles, the pancakes, all FIRE. This is the definition of brunch. 5/5. 10/10.

The BC have been on my Yelp collection since its opening. Finally got the courage to wait in line for the much-anticipated good-looking and sounding foods. Arrived on a Sunday morning at 11am, parked VIP, and was told the wait time would be around 20-30 mins for a party of 2. Sat in the car and waited for 45 mins before we stood outside after some space cleared out from all the patrons waiting around. After 53 mins (hubby had a stopwatch going), we were finally called in. Everything looked so good on the menu, but we can only eat so much so we decided on the following items:-Fresh OJ (5/5): Delicious balance between tart & sweet-Arnold Palmer (1/5): No sweetness, just bland lemonade and iced tea-Coffee Cake (4.5/5): Beautifully crisp crumb top and warm, moist inside with blueberries (something we've never seen before), needed a tad bit more sweetness because hubby and I have a pretty big sweet tooth-Jalisco Omelette (4.5/5): Wonderfully packed with braised short rib and peppers-Midtown Duo of Neptune & Crab Cake Bennies (5/5): Neptune was piled high with big pieces of chopped shrimp and fresh crab meat. Crab Cake was delectable in its own right. Browned to perfection. Both were enveloped by the flavorful hollandaise sauce.Server was very attentive and friendly. Although very busy and all tables were constantly occupied, noise level was moderate and good for conversation. I don't recall hearing music that other reviewers mentioned as being too loud and obnoxious for the atmosphere or melting pot taste. Don't let the crowd outside waiting scare you. Definitely worth the wait even though the time quote is off by twice as long. We definitely plan to go back to try other items on the extensive menu.

Came on a busy Saturday. Had to wait about 45 mins and by the time they called us we were starving. Immediately as soon as we sat down, waters were given. The waitress was with us within seconds. Since we had a while to wait, we knew immediately what to order. The food came pretty fast and it was delicious. We ordered the Santa Maria and Mexican scramble and it was so nicely seasoned. Restaurant was clean and we'll be back!

It's too loud and I'm hard of hearing! The food is ok. Good service, though. Always a wait, but chairs to wait on.

There were so many options to choose from! All of the food was great. I had my first eggs benedict here and it was amazing! The service was okay, they were very busy the morning that I went, but everyone was friendly. Even though it was crowded, we didn't have to wait long to get a table. The restaurant was clean and spacious. They turned the music about halfway through and it was SUPER loud. I could barely hear myself talk. They turned it down after about 10-15 minutes. Overall, the food was great. Would recommend trying it out if you're looking for something new!
