I was craving for a quick lunch and came across this thai place on Yelp with good ratings.Thai basil fried rice- taste 5/5 but very less portion size. I know Thai restaurant portion sizes are small compared to others but I requested for a dinner portion and yet the rice is not enough for one person.Red curry - 3/5 i felt extremely creamy from the coconut milk, lack of curry flavor. I requested for spicy but not taken. My recommendation, I will try another Thai restaurant next time.

Thai Cafe Restaurant is located in a strip mall that also has Koi Palace, 85 degrees bakery, etc.Parking can be challenging here, especially during peak hours, as there are a lot of good restaurants in this plaza.I've eaten at the restaurant and got takeout over the years. Pad Thai Noodles: Thin rice noodle stir fried with egg, bean sprouts, green onion, and a choice of protein in their exclusive tamarind sauce with ground peanuts (on the side). This is slightly sweet and has more sauce than other places. I do like it, though.Pad See Ew: Wide rice noodle pan fried with broccoli, egg, black soy sauce, and a choice of protein. Sweet and dark soy sauce covered soft noodles done correctly.Kee Mao Noodles: Spicy. Wide rice noodle stir fried with tomato, mushroom, bamboo shoot, bell pepper, chili, fresh Thai basil, and a choice of protein.Yellow Curry: Choice of protein slow cooked with cubed potato and carrot in coconut milk with yellow curry paste. Served with white rice. A bit watery - other places are better.Tom Yum Goong Soup: Spicy. A zesty spicy and sour soup with shrimp, mushroom, kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass, galanga, lime juice, and cilantro. It comes out piping hot, but once it touches your tongue, an explosion of tart, savory, sweet broth to your senses.Seafood Salad: Quick boiled assorted seafood with onion, cilantro, and fresh chili in our lime dressing. Great seasoning, as you can taste the fish sauce, lime, and chili in this refreshing salad.Kee Mao Fried Rice: Spicy. Choice of protein pan fried with fresh jasmine rice, chili, onion, bell pepper, and fresh Thai basil. The taste is sweet, savory, and slightly spicy. I guess you can have them add more spice to it, but then you do have the chilis on the table.Overall, 3.5 stars.

We have ordered "Pad see ew" with tofu and "garlic lovers delight" with tofu. One of the best Thai places in Sunnyvale area! Hands down. Read for more details.I don't know why the place has low rating but we were pleasantly surprised. The pad see ew comes with abundance of tofu (fried), broccoli and carrots. The noodles are well seasoned and mixed together with eggs. The only suggestion is they should ask for spice level as I want my dishes a more spicy! The garlic lovers delight was a hoot and some more! Amazing curry made with black pepper and garlic. Very nicely season broth too. The dish comes with broccoli, carrot and choice of meat/tofu. Also it comes with side rice. Both the dishes were amazing! We will definitely go back as the service were also fast and the waitress was very cordial and nice. I don't know why the reviews are bad but I urge the nay-sayers to go and taste these dishes again if they didn't already. Definitely a must have Thai place.

My staple go-to restaurant when I stay in San Jose. The Chix Satay is grilled nicely and the peanut sauce is flavorful and creamy. I also enjoy the Pad Thai but be specific with the spice level you would like. I may also suggest adding slightly more sauce to the dish as it had been a little on the dry side at times.

To tell you the truth.. I've been here several times over the past several years and I simply have been unable to really make up my mind with regards to how I felt about this place. To me, the biggest factor and contribution to getting their patronage is their location. If there were other decent Thai restaurants around.. then I would more than likely eat at those locations. So.. is this at the top of my list for Thai food if location was not a factor? No... but as far as if I'm craving Thai and since I work nearby.. yeah. The plus side is I tend to fulfill my cravings here for the most part.. Getting a nice delicious curry of sorts... or sometimes pad thai. Today on the other hand I was slightly adventurous and after reading some past reviews of the kee mao.. ended up getting that.On the menu, it is listed as a spicy dish... and for someone who orders it.. you would expect it to come out spicy.. like.. as default. That was not the case. It came out with essentially no heat at all.. and I just couldn't find the heart to say anything. It was still pretty delicious, but was definitely missing the flavor profile I was craving. I also ordered the Roti and it still is very delicious. Great flavors from the curry and the roti itself was nice, warm, and flaky.Perhaps today wasn't the best day to adventure off into the menu.. Gonna stick with curry perhaps next time. Good food regardless. Not my first choice, but if there's nothing really better in the area.. well...

A pretty decent Thai place. The Pad Thai was on the sweeter side, but the essential savoriness, sourness, and saltiness were all there, so it gets a pass. I neglected to order mine spicy so I can't comment on the heat level, but I'm willing to come back and try this place again to see if they can bring the real Thai spice.Tom Yum soup tasted pretty good! Overall, not a standout Thai place but it definitely checked all the boxes.

Even though the items I ordered weren't how I expected them, they were still pretty good. -The seafood tom ka soup and the pad see ew were the best of the items we ordered (if I came back, I'd ask them to add a whole fried egg for the pad see ew)-The thai basil ground pork and and crispy salmon in chili sauce were good, but I was hoping that it'd have more basil flavor. There was something off in the basil ground pork, I don't know how to describe it. And the salmon was sweeter than I had hoped.-The only dish I did not like was the nae num tok; I like the flavor of this dish but the beef they used was overcooked and too tough to enjoyOverall, I was pretty satisfied with my meal and will be back. This is one of the better thai restaurants that I have found in the San Jose area and look forward to trying some of their other dishes.

The new QR code ordering system is terrible. New management/owners? There was one waitress for the entire restaurant, and she was frazzled. Our (3) meals came out at different times, the last one a good 15 minutes after the 2nd. The little soup was not much more than peas and tofu with salty water, and the wee salad was literally just a slice of iceberg lettuce. My sauce wasn't the peanut sauce but some generic sauce, and the chicken was dry. If we go again, I'll get a fried rice dish.

We went in at noon on Monday. The waitress appeared to be very busy when we walked in even though there was only one or two other party in the room, perhaps there were online orders she needed to handle alongside. Service was a little slow but it was understandable due to her being the only person in the front. We ordered the Pad Thai and another noodle dish along with the satay. The chicken satay was alright, the peanut sauce and the pickled cucumber that went on the side were very tasty but the chicken was a bit dry. The other noodle dish was very good - the wide noodles weren't stuck together and the dish was flavorful, though I didn't think the spice level was exactly "hot," more like medium. Now, the Pad Thai was something else. It did not taste like Pad Thai, the flavor was quite off, it just tasted sweet and slightly salty, and was lacking some vinegar or fish sauce - it could have been a lot more flavorful. Also, the noodles were stuck together. There goes my belief that all Pad Thai was good at any Thai restaurant. The soup and salad that the lunch combo came with were questionable. The salad was just 5 leaves of cheap salad mix lettuce with basic sweet sesame sauce and the watery vegetable soup tasted good only because I was quite hungry. Overall, the place had alright food, good enough to fill empty stomachs but not worthwhile to revisit.

Broad menu for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. There was only a single person hosting, cooking and serving when we went, but we did not experience any deficiency in service.Food is hit and miss with the soup and chicken being really good.As others have reported, the QR based ordering system is a little unpredictable since the quote does not scan.
