Taqueria Los Pericos

10/10 would recommend! I frequently order the super steak burrito w/ grilled tortilla, or the taco salad. Meat is always season and ingredients are fresh. The salsa verde is delicious! Location is at the entrance of a busy plaza, so there's a lot of foot traffic. The inside looks like a standard Mexican food restaurant, nothing fancy. I can tell they do their best to keep it as clean as possible. Could be cleaner.Food is good so I will keep supporting.

came to Los Pericos ready to be wowed, but it ended up being just okay for me this time around. I ordered the wet burrito, which was massive (as it should be for the $16 price tag). It filled me up, but honestly, it didn't blow me away. The chicken was a bit on the dry side, which is a shame because the dish had potential.What I did enjoy, though, was the sauce bar. They had 3-4 fresh self-serve salsas and some tasty pickled veggies, which added some much-needed flavor to the meal. Definitely a highlight.That said, I know this spot has a loyal following, and I've seen rave reviews, so I'm not writing it off. I'll be back to try something different--maybe I just didn't order one of their signature dishes this time. Here's hoping round two lives up to the hype.

This is just all personal preference, so take this review with that in mind. I ordered a few crispy tacos, 2 lenguas, 1 carne, and 1 al pastor. There is A LOT of lettuce and and sour cream. This could be a good thing for others, but for me it was a little too overwhelming. Especially the sour cream, I think that just drowns the flavors too much. The meat portion was great. The meats really fill the tacos, I think that's why the lettuce, cheese, and sour cream is outside the taco, because the inside is filled with meat. That I really liked about Los Pericos.The carne was pretty bland in my opinion. Al pastor had flavors but you would expect it to be flavorful. I was pretty sad about the lengua, that just tasted like water. Flavors weren't really there for me, but I do respect that they fill the tacos to the max.

My brother introduced me this place when I was recently in town visiting. We came for a late lunch after an Oakland A's game (the last one at the Coliseum). And it's clear that this is a local gem. I had the ceviche tostada and the carnitas loaded nachos. Well, I probably should have stopped at the tostada which is a huge portion and could be shared for 2. It was fresh, really good. I liked the carnitas nachos, but I think I was already so full from the ceviche that I couldn't full appreciate the nachos.The unlimited Horchata was also awesome!! Will come back when I'm back in town!

The burrito here is a hit or miss. Sometimes it's the quality I know for the last 8 years and sometimes it's just way too greasy to finish. The chips and salsa are always fire (all you can eat when dining in!), and the steak fajitas is pretty good. There is metered parking around the area and can be tough to find a spot next to the restaurant.

As a Mexican 'diner' this place is excellent. We have been to a couple of their restaurants in the bay area, and all have been clean, and well run. Lot's of locals come here, which speaks volumes. When I go to a 'Mexican' establishment, I want to be the minority 'Non-Mexican' in the room. You will get that here.Food is very good, and the staff constantly making sure tables are cleared and cleaned, as well as the floor and surrounding areas. Big thumbs up.

Omgosh this restaurant was pricey but worth it! I was honored that my bf took me here because this restaurant is one his mother who is from Mexico took him to throughout his childhood. The food here is amazing and so delicious! Absolutely love this food! Staff was very friendly!

Fast service and good food. I ordered a shrimp taco and fish taco. Seafood was fresh.

I just moved to San Leandro this year and a lot of my neighbors recommended this place. Our street had a block party and they even had food catered from here. When I had the food at the block party, I thought it was okay. So I decide to stop by and give it another chance. I went in the evening and they were really busy. I ordered a al pastor super burrito with refried beans. I asked for their spiciest salsa and they said it's the diabla. As I was waiting for my order, I picked up a few salsa from the salsa bar. I grabbed the green salsa and the red one. There was a dark red one that looks very watery, but I did not try it. I took my food home and it came with a complementary chips, which was nice. The burrito was good and al pastor had a lot of flavor, but it might be a little bit too much flavor. The diabla salsa was spicy but tolerable. Next time I'll try the Carne Asada. The two salsa I grabbed definitely needs some work. The green one just tasted too sour and tart and the red one just tasted like watery ketchup.

You order ahead of time, pay, and they'll give you a number (if you plan on eatting in), feel free to choose a table because there's a ton. There's also a self service bar to you get your sauces and drinks. Staff member was fine and nice. The food came out pretty quickly too! ZI got 3 tacos: chorizo, el pastor, and carnitas. El pastor was my favorite & the chorizo was pretty good too. Carnitas was okay, it was a bit dry, not sure because I ate it last and it was sitting out for a while. Other than that, I would come back here if I want something quick!
