Swaraj is a fantastic place to take family and friends! Their Kolhapuri preparations are so authentic and tasty, that we keep going there all the time. Service is very nice, and all the servers are pleasant and courteous. Ambiance with all the Maharashtrian decor is very appealing. Enjoy their fish, mutton, bhakari and yes, wada-paav too! Yummy yummy in my tummy!!

This happens when arrogarnce hits you after you become popular.I went to Swaraj Vada Pav Food Truck in Milpitas today and ordered a cheese pav bhaji and vada pav.I wanted Cheese Pav Bhaji togo and Vada pav to eat there but chose take out since on the new screens they have added, you cannot split your order. The only option you have is "To Go" or "Dine In"When we opened the vadapav and ate in the car in like 1 minute, it was chilled cold vada. When I went and told him, your vada was cold, he was like no way and where is the vada. I said after taking the bite how do you want it back ?There was no apology or even care that they served someone elses old ToGo Order was given to me because who would know ????When I shared and told them, you handed me someones old cold order... He was like "Yeah Yeah Whatever !"This happens when u suddenly become successful, you start showing your true colors and customer service or customers go for a toss !Not again sorry Swaraj Vada Pav you disappointed me big time today.Anyone taking parcel please check they are giving you hot or old stale cold vada in the pav. Here is the picture of the vada pav whose bite I took and was served chilled to me.

Swaraj Indian Restaurant: A Maharashtrian Culinary DelightFrom the moment I stepped into Swaraj Indian Restaurant, I knew I was in for a treat. This place holds a special spot in my heart for its authentic and delectable Maharashtrian cuisine, especially its exquisite chicken and lamb dishes. Known for its spicy flavors, Marathi non-vegetarian food is perfectly represented here. One must-try item is their Vada Pav, often referred to as the Mumbai local potato burger. This savory snack features a spicy potato filling sandwiched between a soft bun, creating a burst of flavors with every bite. It's undoubtedly the best in the Bay Area.Another standout dish is their Kothimbir Vadi. This traditional Maharashtrian snack is made from coriander leaves and chickpea flour, deep-fried to golden perfection. It's crispy, flavorful, and utterly addictive.Their Kolhapuri and Malvani chicken dishes are spot on, offering the right amount of heat and spice that these regional recipes are famous for. Don't miss out on their Shrikhand dessert either--a sweet, creamy yogurt-based treat that's the perfect way to end your meal. The decor of Swaraj is subtly themed around the Shivaji era, adding to the cultural ambiance. While it tends to get busy on weekends, the wait is well worth it. The staff are incredibly accommodating, and the service is top-notch.Dining at Swaraj brings back fond memories of Mumbai, making it a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Maharashtrian flavors.

We went with our maharashtrian friends who were visiting from east coast. They were very excited to try the dishes. We ordered Vada pav, sabudana vada, masala taak, sol kadhi, zunka, matki chi usal. Vada pav was very spicy but tasty. Sabudana vada was pretty good too. Bhajra roti which we ordered which zunka was pretty thick. Zunka was decent. Usal gravy was oily as expected. As that's how it is supposedly. Service was pretty bad as they had less ppl working, we had to remind them about masala taak thrice and in final bill they added it extra as we kept reminding them.

I came here several times. I love the decoration of the restaurant because it shows me the culture or story of Maharashtrian. The service here is friendly & nice. The food is delicious. I like chicken malvani because there is star anise spice which kinda reminds me of Taiwanese food. The food is a bit over my spicy level. Overall, I would recommend foodie friends to try this place.

TLDR : Great food - authentic Maharashtrian spices, nice ambience depicting stories for Maharashtra and quick serviceWe tried Swaraj India as it was highly recommended by friends for authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. This place comes closest to finding spicy Maharashtrian food in the bay area. The menu is exhaustive with multiple options to choose from. The prawns koliwada was good and the saoji chicken was nice and spicy.Loved the Bhakri and sol kadhi!

We have eaten at their truck before and so wanted to try out the restaurant. We had got something at Ketli Chai and wanted something to fill up. We ordered the misal paan and Saoji Chicken for the kids. The food was ordered to go and was ready on time. The misal paav was good and perfectly spiced. It could be spicier , maybe as a special request for the next time. The kids ate saoji chicken and it was very well received. it was simmering for a long time and the spice was a little high, like a good kick. next time they may try the saoji mutton. maybe we'll try eat at the restaurant than eating out.Definitely a place to go if you want Marathi food.

This was my second time here at their restaurant located at El Camino, Santa Clara. Before that, I used to go to their food truck in Milpitas many times. I heard from a Maharashtra folks that their vada pav is the best one you can get in bay area. Not being a vada pav fan, I was little hesitant to try but their vada pav is really good and not very spicy like other places. I had tried their pav bhaji as well at food truck but found it spicy and didn't like that much. When I came to the restaurant in Dec 2022, that was my first time having piyush and truly loved it. What an amazing refreshing drink. Anjeer kulfi was also something unique and tried first time in my life.So obviously when visiting bay area, this place was on my go-to list and I got to try it in Jan this year. Sabudana vada- very crispy and does not feel oily at all. Vada pav- good as usual but sabudana vada made it to top in my favorite appetizer list. I wish they also had sabudana khichdi in their menu. I didn't like tawa pulav,it felt like premade and just got heated. It wasn't even heated properly. Also very spicy. We had to get extra yogurt to be able to eat it. Bread- puri is great, fluffy and not oily, crisp as well. But roti (whole wheat bread) wasn't that great. Disclaimer: most of the veg curry are on the spicy side. I was recommended veg peshwari as something not that spicy but even then it was Thali wait time is 15 mins, which was little surprising to me as most of the items in daily thali as pre-made.

Extremely tasty vada pavs! We ended up ordering one more plate and I highly recommend it. The pav bhaji was delicious and buttery and one of the best in the bay. We also ordered the paneer rajhans which had a bit too much saffron. My friends enjoyed the non-vegetarian dishes a lot.
