Came on a Thursday evening. No wait, but steady crowd inside. It's cute on the inside, totally unsuspecting from the outside. We were quickly seated and gave our order for omakase, we picked agedashi tofu and salmon kama for the appetizers we can choose. Also got 1 lb of the grilled crab leg special. We got a salmon treat on the house, that was so good. Agedashi tofu was good, Kama was undercooked but we ate around it haha but the server caught it and got it cooked for us and gave us 2 small dishes on the house. Service is chill but we appreciated the attention to detail. Omakase was ok. Didn't taste that fresh to be honest, they give you the fried shrimp head to go with the sweet shrimp and it was really good. If we came back we would try the sushi maybe. The grilled crab leg they cut up for you so it's easy to eat but it was way too salty..

I give the sushi, nigiri specifically, here a 5/5. They give a good ratio of fish to rice. Many other places will give you a small cut of fish that barely, if not doesn't, filly cover the rice but Sushi Tomi has a great ratio. On top of that, the fish is suuuper soft. The salmon nigiri was my all time favorite and I would go back and order that single item. They also have fresh wasabi as an option which is not something you see often so if you haven't tried fresh wasabi, I'd highly recommend. The non-sushi items were just OK in my opinion. I tried the steamed eggplant, chicken karaage, veggie tempura, and agadashi tofu. The veggie tempura was the best out of the four. The agadashi tofu and chicken karaage, while fried, didn't have a crispy shell at all so that took away from the experience. If I were to come back, I'd stick with sushi-only orders (:

Sushi Tomi has very good sushi and the other dishes we ordered were good as well. The Saba Shiyoyaki was seasoned and tasted very good but the Chicken Teriyaki was okay. I've tasted better. Portions are good and cost is typical for a Japanese Restaurant in the Bay Area. Service was okay but not great. The server we had at our party of 8 would have me pass the small plates, miso soup and tea down the table instead of walking over to the other side. Good news is she didn't have me pass-down all the entrees ! All the dinners and sushi arrived on time and presentation was good. Ambiance is non existent. Unless, you don't mind talking loud and over others at nearby tables. Decor is more inline with a family start up theme. This (to some extent) probably gives Sushi Tomi its charm to some patrons. The wait can be quite long and they do not take reservations. Because of this, it can be a hit and miss on waiting for a table. There is no waiting area except outside on the sidewalk. Not my cup of tea (specially when it is rainy or very cold). Sushi Tomi has been around for many years and has a loyal customer base so they must be doing something right !?Unfortunately, for me it does rise to the level I expect when for a shorter distance I can drive to Los Altos or Cupertino and have Japanese food with better service and ambiance.

Takeout was good albeit a bit confusing. Day I went, they ran out of miso soup so they gave out packets and green onion! Thought it was sauce so I was putting it over my mackerel and it was so salty. The fish was sooo fresh for the tuna and salmon sashimi combo, was so pretty and appetizing. The wasabi was great too.

Sushi Tomi is always solid and a great deal! I got the extra special nigiri set and it was very filling. It was also only $38, which is a great price for the Bay. They give a lot of fish and the fish is very fresh. The only one I'd skip is the clam. The sushi tomi and spicy salmon rolls were also super good. Came on a Friday night and it was crowded. There's always a wait during peak times as it's pretty popular. For a party of 6 waited about 20-30 minutes. The restaurant is a bit small but the wait goes by fast. There's no reservations and you have to come to write your name down. There's also no seating inside so I recommend waiting in your car or walking around while waiting. Luckily there's a parking lot right across the street.

Still a super solid spot in Mountain View for delicious, fresh sushi! We usually have no problem grabbing a spot when arriving at opening. I tried their sushi rolls for the first time in awhile (my go-to is usually the chirashi bowl). The caterpillar had a good amount of unagi and generous avocado on top. The salmon was very fresh and buttery in the roll. Both rolls had a good fish to rice ratio and I enjoyed the firmer texture of the rice. Recommend grabbing chirashi, rolls, or any of the sushi/sashimi meal sets!

Becoming my go-to place for sushi, this or the location in West San Jose. I got the Tomj bento box this time, and it was a good amount of food and every part was delicious. My friend got a tempura shrimp lunch set, which I was a little skeptical of because I thought the price was a little high, but they gave her a plateful of tempura which made the price make more sense. We came right at open and was able to get seated right away. Otherwise, be prepared to put your name on the waitlist and wait. They were super busy for a Sunday lunch so I imagine it's like that all weekend. This place is located in Downtown Mountainview a couple blocks off Castro. There's the usual parking garages for Castro, as well as nearby residential street parking near Sushi Tomi.

Updated: It is consistently my go-to sushi place in Mountain View, and I come whenever I am in the neighborhood. Sometimes I am deterred because of the lines, but I found a hack. Just come early and there's less waiting!Love their omakase, it never disappoints. Fish is fresh and service is friendly. Just this week, my colleague and I had an early lunch to celebrate a closing. We were served a soup that was miso based, with veggies and fish. Delightful start of the meal. I had a sushi & sashimi combo bento, perfect choice. My green tea was promptly refilled and hot. Service is excellent. Highly recommend this treasure in Mountain View!

Sushi Tomi is one of mine and my family's favorite places in the Bay Area for sushi! The fish is always so fresh and everything is of great quality. It is a lil pricey but you honestly get what you pay for so it is definitely worth in my opinion. They always have different items every time I go as it is definitely an incentive to go back haha
