My son and his wife had recently moved into the neighborhood. And we all love sushi and have traveled the world experiencing excellent sushi in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, New York, New Orleans, Miami, Washington DC, London, Paris, Tel Aviv, Honolulu, Maui, Toronto & Tokyo. Believe me we have eaten thousands of beautiful & delicious sushi dishes from around the globe. So on this cool mid February 2025 Tuesday evening when my daughter had flown into San Francisco for the evening before heading to Brazil the next morning we decide to grab a bite to eat near her brother's and sister-in-law's new home.My son recommended we try out a local sushi place very close to their home he had passed by serveral times since moving into the Daly City/Pacifica neighborhood. So we adventure out!We found easy parking out front of the restaurant at a tiny strip mall off Skyline Boulevard. We were greeted graciously and shared we had four in our party. We were seated mid resturant next to the window and very active sushi bar. Our server Vicky was very attentive, friendly and welcomed us with a amazing smile. Throughout our stay she was very professional and helpful on choosing our menu selections.Given this was our first visit (and surely not our last!) We were excited by the colorful and extensive and exquisite selections and their beautiful photos of the appetitizers and entrees. We initially order Miso Soup, yakitori skewers, shrimp tempura roll, for my daughter-in-law who was 7 months pregnant with her first child. My daughter ordered mixed tempura undon soup, and we all shared Spicy garlic edamame and my son munched on his plain edamame. I ordered the salmon sampler which looked incredible on the menu photo and even MORE incredible IRL! Wow! It was extremely fresh, beautiful presentation & very delicious. It is NOW, one of my favorite sushi dishes I have EVER had in 40+ years of eating sushi! Thanks Vicky for the super recommendations of that dish and the double Hamachi roll which was very tasty and unique combination of flavors.Three of us shared a large hit Sake that was perfect!Sushi Kashiwa was excellent! Our first visit could NOT have been more rewarding and we are looking forward to many future visits! Thanks for Vicky for her gracious hospitality and our master sushi chefs in their artful craft! Wow!Arigatou - ありがとう Thank you!

Get ready for a long review. Let me start with the positive first:*food is very good, all the sashimi tasted fresh. One of my fav is the mixed mushroom tempura (I'm glad they made it mix instead of the old all portobello) suprise box was a good suggestion by the server. Shinjuku roll was yummy too!Now the cons:*servers were not very friendly :(*we came in around 5:35pm. Our reservation was 6pm so I was thankful that they let us sit right away. There wasn't a lot of people yet. When we ordered the food came really fast. Like very fast to the point that I think the shinjuku roll was premade. (Or the sushi chefs are just very quick) all of our orders (there are more food but I wasn't able to take a picture of all the foos) came really quick. So we were enjoying our food and around 6:47pm they gave us the check even if we didn't ask for it and asked us how many boxes we needed. There are 8 of us and while some of us were done eating, some of us were still working on our food. But since they gave us the check already and they started clearing the table we kind of just finished eating. I asked the server if they're closing already since we really felt rushed (last time I check there was no time limit and we were not in a fast food) the lady said "oh we still have a lot of reservations " I didn't want to argue since we had a guests with us. But in my head I was like well we also made reservations. I was so embarrassed because like I said we had guests and they're not locals. I even spoke highly of this restaurant to them since this is my 3rd time coming here and it never disappointed me. Except tonight :( I'm really sad because I really like this restaurant and I really like supporting local restaurants. Now, I'm not writing this review to bad mouth the restaurant (as you can see I still gave them 4 stars). I'm writing this because I want the management to know how I felt tonight. I'm not sure if they care or if they read reviews but hopefully they do.

As a party of 2, we waited for about 20 min on a Friday night at 7pm. They were really busy and received a lot of delivery orders too. So it was pretty lively. The restaurant has tables to accommodate smaller and bigger parties and you can sit at the sushi bar. They do have a small parking lot, but they share it with the other storefronts in the plaza. Make sure you park only in their designated spots. There aren't too many so I can imagine if it gets busy you may need to find residential parking nearby or wait it out for a spot. We loved that the Chirashi bowl came with Uni. It was some of the freshest Uni we've had. The only bad thing was the rice in the bowl wasn't sushi rice. Everything else we had was fresh and pretty good. This is pretty close to me so I think we'll be back again if we want sushi quickly close by.

This place has been open less than a year and replaces a sushi spot that I had not been a big fan of.My son, the big sushi fan was down visiting from Oregon, so I thought it would be a good chance to try it out. Parking is a little treacherous and I would caution you not to exit on the Skyline Blvd. side. That driveway is almost unnavigable. I was concerned from how it looked on the outside that it would be tiny inside, but it seated probably 30 when full. Our server was also the owner, Tony. Selection, especially of nigiri is quite large and Tony helped us in comparing the different types of shrimp, which was very helpful. They encourage you to try the sushi as the chef prepares it before adding any wasabi or soy. I added it to the Umi Masu, because the large size of these pieces seemed to call out for a "flavor break"Here's what we ordered:Umi Masu nigiri $10: 4.5 stars. I would have liked the pieces a little thinner. They were a bit difficult to wrangle. It was a gorgeous color and pristine freshAmaebi nigiri $15: 5 stars. Great freshness and quality of product. The heads were fried just right too keep the tasty tiny brains intact.Santa Barbara Uni $20: 5 stars. We had wanted the Japanese Uni, but they were out. This was probably the best S.B. Uni either of us had ever had. Incredibly complex flavor, without being too funky, and topped with freshly grated wasabi6 piece Japanese Oysters $23: 4.5 stars. These were topped with some tobiko and a served with a tasty sort or mignonette sauce. My only knock was they were kinda smallFatboy Roll $22: 4 stars. This was basically a deep fried California Roll with white fish, scallop, tobiko and house mayo on top. I think if I'd noticed the California roll was fried, we might not have ordered it. It was a little too heavy.Kashiwa Roll $17: 4 stars spicy and regular tuna, spicy and regular salmon, tobiko, crunch and house mayo. Good fish again, but maybe too many different things rolled up into 1.I had sent a Yelp message to them the night before asking I gave them a price point, could they select a meal for us, but when we got there, we decided we'd rather order ourselves. When Tony took my credit card and noticed it said Diane B. he realized I was the one who had messaged him. As a perk he discounted our bill by 15%, which brought it to just under $100. What a sweet touch. I will definitely be back. So many more things I want to explore there.Food: 37/40service: 18/20Value: 16/20Intangibles: 17/20Overall: 88/100. I will round up since it's so close. 5 stars!

We were just vising Pacifica for the holidays and honestly came here entirely due to walking distance proximity. We liked it so much we actually ended up going twice in one week! I will say that we had great service the first night (week night) and less so the second time since it was a busy Friday night and it didn't seem like they had enough servers. Now on to the highlight, the food, organized with tastiest on top!Tempura (Green bean & Mushroom) - You'd think tempura is just tempura but both the green beans and the mushroom tempura was top notch. It was so addicting with the light breading and perfectly cooked veggies. Highly highly recommend ordering either tempura green beans or tempura mushrooms or BOTH!Fat boy roll - This roll is LOADED. The roll that sits on the bottom is fried and warm so its such a nice balance to the cold toppings on top. This is definitely a filling roll and the fish on top was very fresh and tender.Salmon sashimi sampler - We tend to gravitate towards salmon sashimi so we enjoyed this little sampler! Nothing crazy but still tasty.Grilled skewers (Scallops & Pork belly) - The bacon wrapped scallops were good and well cooked but the pork belly was a bit tough. I would probably skip these next time.

This location used to be a hole-in-the-wall, no-name Japanese restaurant (25+ years ago) serving cheap sushi rolls. But now, after a few changes in ownership, they have higher-quality sashimi and sushi! No longer worried if I'd get food poisoning from days-old fish! Phew! The restaurant is modern and clean. They have a fish tank with gold fishes to bring in some success! Hopefully, it does that for them.We were promptly seated at around 6:30 pm as one party just left. Perfect timing! Their food and drink menu is 14 pages long, which made it difficult for us to decide what to order. Finally, after about 10 minutes, we were able to place our order. ***OUR PICKS***FRIED STRING BEANS ~ Fried string beans, creamy sesame sauce, black pepper powder. This dish was good, though the sauce was more sweet than savory. Nonetheless, it was a good starter. 4/5IKA SUGATA YAKI ~ Grilled whole squid w/house special sauce. The squid had a good, chewy texture and was topped with bonito flakes. We enjoyed the smokiness of the bonito. The special sauce tasted like teriyaki. 4/5CHEF'S CHOICE SASHIMI (15PCS) ~ We had the usual fish you would get in a chirashi bowl like tuna, salmon, walu, halibut, hamachi, but there was one fish we did not know, yet all the fish we got was fresh and delicious served with freshly grated wasabi and pickled ginger. 5/5 KASHIWA ROLL ~ spicy tuna, spicy salmon, tuna, salmon, tobiko, crunch, house mayo sauce. I believe this roll was heavily dusted with deep-fried panko, which was a bit overkill, but it was still tasty. 4/5 We had a nice dinner, yet a bit pricey at $50/pp. However, that's about how much Japanese food is nowadays, if you want fresh fish and pleasant ambiance. Sushi Kashiwa a solid 4 for food and service!

Our friends who live in Pacifica suggested we meet them for lunch here in place of golfing due to weather. Said new owners. Hubby & I recognized the footprint having eaten here years back. We arrived around 11:30am. Party of five. The interior has changed since we'd been here. The interior lighting and the seating arrangement much improved. Unisex restroom. They offer a lunch special daily 11:30a-2pm. Closed Mondays. Ordered- * hubby & I had bento C - chicken katsu and shrimp tempura roll. Great presentation. Not in a box but platters atop a bamboo tray. * two friends had bento D - salmon katsu and veggie tempura * The fifth went with the tempura string beans and the California popper. Also great food presentation. These two items came to the table first. Miso soup comes with the bentos. We did have a little of a wait for our bentos. Bento D came before bento C. Everything was fresh & delicious. Thursday is our golf day. This may become our 19th hole going forward.

Ordered on DoorDash. Bluefin, lion rolls and Miso. Miso tasted different but not awful. Everyone agreed the Bluefin tasted poorly and the lion roll was so-so. Was excited to try sushi place near my home but will pass next time. Star rating should not be indicative of service, which may be great.

Decided to try this place since the reviews seemed decent and we wanted to see how it compared to Sushi 8, the establishment that was here before them. Came on a Sunday afternoon around 1pm and was able to be seated right away and our order was taken within a few minutes. Server was professional but wasn't super friendly nor did she really smile. Place was nicely remodeled, clean and less cluttered because there were fewer tables. Did not checkout the restroom so cannot tell you if it was clean or if it had seat covers. Food was served to us at a steady pace- not all at once which we appreciated so we didn't feel rushed and we could enjoy what we ordered. We ordered several rolls and meals because we wanted variety and to be able to really compare. Everything was yummy and you could tell had its distinct flavors meaning not everything tasted the same like some places. You can tell from the pic that everything was visually appealing to delight the eyes not just the stomach. We enjoyed everything. We were happy we came, will return and do recommend.

This place has an amazing selection of sashimi and sushi. Lots of different flavors that you normally don't see in a sushi restaurant. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for sushi in the area to come here and try this place out. Plus it has a parking lot available in front.
