My first experience with a nice high end Omakase restaurant and it was superb. Service was immaculate and super attentative. Loved how they took care of all the dishes and explained every course. The food was amazing as well. On par with sushi I've had in Japan. Everything was super fresh and nothing was overly fishy. Chefs seasoned each piece with flavors to complement the fish. Even the appetizers were amazing.

Second visit, not as good as the first. It's a well design omakase sushi at a somewhat reasonable price ($155). They are not shy of strongly seasoned fish and rice, which I love. The menu was well design throughout, but unfortunately, the execution is full of flaws. To begin, all appetizers were creative and delicious. However, as the first customer, the chef forgot to put lemon on our grilled fish, and we didn't realize until we saw other customers were given and instructed on how to eat it. The chefs later noticed the mistake and discussed about it behind the counter, but they never mentioned or apologized to us. It's pretty minor, but it set the tone for the rest of the meal. The nigiri were okay. The rice was perfectly seasoned and great al dente texture. The best pieces were the flounder+engawa, saba and also the baby eel+ikura. Bad ones are Hotaru squid which was dry (either not fresh or overcooked), fishy Aji (and I love Aji), Kuroma Ebi still had some shell on, and the Toro Futomaki fish was too cold. Also note that nigiri were made multiple pieces at the time to be seasoned together, which I personally prefer piece-by-pie. We ordered the uni tasting, very good in my opinion and $55 is an okay for the good quality uni we served. The meal finished with the fish soup, very tasty, but the fish had some scales left on it. We also did a premium sake tasting, all high quality, but a lack in variety (all fruity Junmai), the regular tasting might be a bit more fun, but good deal none the less.Overall, it's somewhat okay experience, but for $600+ meal for two, there need to be more attention to details and consistent in quality, hence the two-star. I'd rather pay more for better experiences at Yoshizumi or Katsu, or cheaper at Tomi.

This sushi experience is worth every penny, especially for those who appreciate the highest quality fish. Sitting at the bar, you're able to watch the chef carefully select and prepare each piece, showcasing the exceptional freshness of the ingredients. The fish is melt-in-your-mouth tender, with each bite bursting with natural flavors that highlight its top-tier quality. Whether it's the buttery richness of the toro, the clean, sweet taste of the uni, or the delicate, perfectly cut slices of white fish, every piece feels like a celebration of freshness. The ambiance is serene and inviting, offering a comfortable space with a subtle, modern feel that lets the food take center stage. The attention to detail is evident in every aspect, from the thoughtfully curated atmosphere to the way each dish is presented. The service was impeccable, with staff providing attentive, personalized care that made the experience even more special. The chef's expertise shines through not only in the preparation but in the way each piece is crafted to enhance the natural taste of the fish. The quality is on a whole other level, and it's evident in every bite. While the meal is undoubtedly an investment, the unparalleled freshness, skillful presentation, and exceptional service make it an unforgettable and worthwhile experience for any sushi enthusiast.

$155 for 14 courses. I love that it's so close by and I don't have to drive into the city. I would describe the restaurant itself as both upscale and casual. Some of the guests were quite loud during dinner and moving around which was a bit distracting.I wouldn't necessarily say it's a romantic intimate dinner experience like many omakase restaurants in sf, but it's nice. The food is good.

Made a reservation for a friend's birthday on Sunday at 5:30 PM. The restaurant opens right at 5:30 PM. It was incredibly clean with a beautiful Japanese aesthetic. We opted for the omakase, priced at $155. The cost was well worth it for the experience and the exceptional quality of the fish. The fish was flavorful, buttery, and perfectly fatty. They also offer a unique uni tasting, where you can try three different types of uni from various locations. The service was excellent from start to finish.Definitely a great spot for a date night or a special occasion!

Second time coming here and wow this menu had pieces in season that blew our mind! It was a great night from the service to unique fishes we haven't tried. We all got the omakase and an order of the uni tasting. You get four types for $55- a great deal with lots of uni! The Hokkaido one was our favorite. The Akabu sake paired perfectly with our meal. Light, fruity, crispy, and refreshing. I also added on a hairy crab nigiri and it was perfection. There wasn't a single piece that was mediocre. Great job chef Jin, we will be back! His team worked well together and service was seamless. The interior is lined with warm wood slats and makes you feel like you're in Japan!

A solid 14 course omakase offering right in a unassuming strip mall in Mountain View.Priced at $155, it is well worth the cost. How much more you want to spend is up to you with supplements or drinks. Even so, still an amazing value for what Sushi Jin dishes out.Sake - Nanbu Bijin 5 oz pour $37First Appetizer - Sakizuke; celtuce, kani and dashi jelly. Such a fresh and light way to start the omakase. Umami, refreshing and light on the palette.Second Appetizer - Tempura; hotate, uni and shiso. Texturally, so fun to eat. Served with lime citrus and flakey salt. The sweet and tender scallops, herbaceous shiso encasing a buttery and sweet and cool uni deep fried in a light tempura coating lended to such a fun chew and contrasting mouthfeel. Easily could eat a plate of these myself.Third Appetizer - Kinki; thornyhead with koji butter sauce. Nice flakey fish paired well with a rich koji butter sauce. The sauce was indulgent enough not to over power the delicate and sweet flavor of the thornyhead.Nigiri-Zushi - 10 pieces of chef's choice seasonalStriped Jack, Halibut, Bluefin Tuna, Saba (torched prior to serving), Surf Clam, Butter Fish, Flying Fish with Chives, King Salmon, Toro, Negitoro hand rollOut of the offerings the striped jack with daikon, butter fish, salmon, toro and negitori were my favorite just do to personal preference. This is the joy that comes with omakase. Each was prepared with a good amount of rice and not overly seasoned. Wasabi was perfect for me.Supplements - Kegani (Horsehair Crab) was recommended by my server, topped with chives this crab was super sweet and texturally different than that of Dungeness or rock crab. Sweet and firmer flesh.Hokkaido Bafun Uni is my absolute favorite. Sweet, melt in your mouth, ocean butter. It's one bite bliss.Soup Course - Suimono; gindara, takenoko, junsai. The butter fish in the soup was perfect for the clean and clear broth, it's savory but light and a perfect end to the meal.Pacing during the meal was good, ambiance was nice, elevated feeling without being too stuffy or elitist. The chefs made effort to talk during service and checked in with guests on their preferences. Wait staff was prompt and had great recommendations. Can't wait to be back!

4.5/5 Sushi Jin has become my go-to comfort omakase spot during work trips due to convenience but also quality. Located in an unassuming strip plaza, it strikes the perfect balance between intimate and cozy. I've never been to an omakase in sf with such incredible variety of nigiri... they have Japanese barracuda and shark skin?!? They sound unusual, but the flavors and texture are so delicious in their own way. I couldn't give it a 5/5 because I feel like their uni quality is not on par given the current price point of an omakase...

Oh my-kase, a relatively local omakase that isn't far up the peninsula and is absolutely delicious! I had reservations for counter seating with 4 other party members and it was fun being able to watch the chefs prepare. The pacing between each dish was good for really taking in the flavors before moving on to the next dish. My highlights were the uni tasting and hojicha panna cotta. I'm usually not into uni, but I learned that it was because I haven't had good uni until Sushi Jin. As for the panna cotta, it was a fusion of one of my favorite flavors and dessert which I haven't had before and really enjoyed. The dish that surprised me the most was the suimono! It was just a refreshing and light way to wind down a 14 course meal. This place would be great for special occasions and I'm looking forward to returning here!

My partner and I dined here for date night and it did not disappoint. We've tried quite a few omakase spots in the Bay Area and Sushi Jin is one of our new favorites. The restaurant was nice without feeling too stuffy. And the food itself was flavorful and well balanced. My favorites were the chawanmushi and the uni tasting (which we added on post omakase.) 12/10 would recommend & return again.
