Noticing that my fridge ran out of tortillas, I decided to swing by this place and see what they have to offer. The place isn't big but also isn't small, while it may not have everything, it has things for the oops I need something that ran out. Not every carnicería has Guatemalan bread , this place does. The place also had chorizo done the el salvador style, quite neat. While I may not consider this place for an entire grocery run, it won me over for some specialty items previously mentioned. I'll swing by again for Guatemala style bread. 4.5/5 lacks a few products but the specialty ones make up for it .

Supermercado? Super overpriced, super rip off. Fooled me once. Bought a pound of ground beef as I needed more than I had on hand to cook for my big family. The meat looked good on the outside so I took it home not thinking too hard on checking it. Put it in the pan with my other ground beef , again not thinking on it, started to break it down in the pan and it was brown and had a stench on the inside, looked bad compared to the other ground beef. I just took it out before it cooked any more and went to safeway. I will say this store is convenient for items like produce or milk for me. I have a toddler and we have WIC so them accepting WIC and being close is a plus but other than that I don't shop here. Something that would usually cost $2 anywhere would cost $6 here and with the prices of other necessities these days I'd rather make that extra 5 minute drive to somewhere else.

The new owners are very engaged and care about quality. I love the new stand in the front of the store that tells me what's available for discount.

Very good place to shop at for your groceries. It does lack some basic items or the quality of some items could be better. They are under new ownership/management and I think it is for the best. The previous owner were getting old and careless. In fact, the meat department stunk up the entire store like unfresh meat & blood. Now it doesn't smell as bad, it seems like they're working on that. In case the owners weren't aware of this stench, it is very real. Please continue to work on it. Overall cleanliness, pretty good. Customer service, good.Wide range of inventory

I just moved I to the area and I thought I found the perfect grocery store to buy my last min groceries but I most likely won't be visiting this store again. They over charge for items you usually would find for a lower price. I took a look at the shredded mozzarella cheese in hope to use for my dinner dish but it was priced at almost 6 dollars the pound. I'm not used to seeing these prices on cheese anywhere I go so I just decided to take my business elsewhere.

Supermercado La raza isn't as super as others. no taqueria, no panadena. they do have a meat/seafood section, a well stock mex/american beer section and some cheap pan mexicano and bakes(4/$1)buys:-modelo especial chelada ( w/ tomato & lime juice, salt)-2.99liked this better than the bud versioneven better than tecate with limes.didn't see microbrews, if any-pan mexicano (4/$1)ok, fresh tasting-helado ice bar, (cookies & cream) (.99)yummynotes:-didn't see parking lot, maybe in back-large store (eden market before), clean, -farmer's coffee available.-ok shopping for the area...

Yet another Super Mercado in San Leandro area - this one in Ashland. It's fairly large, but I am guessing it's not been in business long (or is it typical of shops in this area to go in and out of business?).You'll find the standard fare in this Hispanic super market - tons of junk food, neat-flavored Mexican chips (I never met a bag of chips I didn't like!), then there are better things - spices, fruit stands, and this shop also has a butchery ...

I have worked near here for eight years and never stopped by La Raza market (I think for fear of running into my students), but I recently needed to pick up some produce and stopped in.Decent selection of veggies, decent prices, clean, friendly...overall a good choice!

This place over charge for small simple items and the meat in the meat department is not as fresh as the try and make it out to be. They try and sell every ounce of meat in the department and don't give a care if its bad. My kids got sick from their meat and I asked the guy for fresh links because my last purchase was sticky and moldy all he did was wipe away anything that's not supposed to be on the meat with his apron and said its fresh......how sanitary. If you want to spend 100 bucks on molded food this is a great choice.
