This place is a wonderful Persian restaurant. The kabobs are great and the service is great. We usually get the special for two which feeds 3-4, comes with great salad and yogurt. We have brought 3 other families. They have a big outdoor area as well.

Our family had a large group for a dinner party on a Friday night and we were able to try stone stew grill for the first time. It was a wonderful experience all around. We sat outside and really enjoyed it. We loved everything! The service was great and the servers were extremely attentive and friendly. All the appetizers including the bread, herbs, cheese and salads were delicious! Our food came out piping hot and everything tasted amazing. We tried the beef kabobs, filet mignon, chicken and rice. This is one of the best Persian restaurants I've ever been to and we will definitely be coming back as regulars. Highly recommend!

My cousin & her husband from San Jose wanted us to meet up for Persian lunch somewhere in San Jose. So I searched and found Stone Stew. So far the review was good. I made a reservation in Moorpark location not on 4th Street San Jose downtown. I was told the one in downtown is small and meant for to go service. The restaurant fixture and decor were beautiful. The dining room was clean. Since Mondays they are closed, Tuesday (today) was like the first day of the week and it was quiet. For appetizers we ordered Kashke Bademjan and my cousin ordered Humus. For drinks they ordered soda and I ordered Doogh large since it was hot today. My husband & I ordered the Torghabeh Special Dish for 2 People. I requested the server Yolanda if I can have Sheshlik instead of Beef Filet. She said nicely that since it was our first time at the restaurant she allowed us the substitute. My cousin ordered Mashad Sheshlik Kabob with Rice and her husband had Kerman Soltani Kabob. The appetizers were served first. My cousin & her hubby said they were delicious. They had hummus before but when they tasted the kashke bademjan they liked it. Our main course came with basmati rice, tomatoes, shirazi salad & shallots yogurt. The meat and chicken were cooked medium well and juicy. The sheshlik was tender. My cousin & her hubby enjoyed their delicious Soltani & Sheshlik separately. In the middle of our meal, the owner Nasim stopped by and introduced herself. I spoke with her earlier to confirm my reservation. So I introduced ourselves. My husband & Nasim spoke Farsi to each other briefly. Everyone was nice. We did not have dessert anymore as we were so full from the lunch. While our husbands were talking, the server Yolanda took us outside to show the outdoor dining and the garden. It was very nice seeing the small pond with waterfalls, mangosteen tree, and even saw the squirrel climbing the tree . I don't mind returning at this restaurant and highly recommend it as the food was delicious, ambiance was nice and service was very good.

We've been coming here since they operated out of a mobile kitchen, and every time, the staff is friendly and the food is great for the price. I highly recommend their kaleh pacheh.

Coming back to this beloved location brought so many memories to me and my family from when Tony Romas used to be here. We're glad this new establishment turned into a great Persian restaurant. The menu is filled with lots to choose from including my favorites, Koobideh, chicken kabobs, and more. Let's talk about the food; the koobideh is fresh and grilled to perfection. Their rice is fluffy and buttery, chicken pieces are juicy and tender, and the appetizers were tremendous. I will say, the beef filet was dry and tasted just like carne asada (I wasn't a fan). The stone stew was just ok; the meat was dry especially when mixed with the garbanzo & white beans. This soup was separated from the meat so it became awkward to eat. Other than this, everything was fantastic and we can't wait to try more! Their service was good and super friendly. They came to check on us frequently and made sure our drinks were refilled. The restaurant does need to utilize the AC though; it was getting hot and we were all sweating. I think they should use the AC fan to make for a comfortable dining experience. We'll be back!!

Pleasantly surprised by how good their koobideh kabob is. Well seasoned, juicy. They had my favorite variety of hot sauce so I was happy. Rice, grilled tomato were fine, if undistinguished. One kebab is a large enough to make a whole meal. It's a great value at $13.99. Kashke bademjan had a very fried texture. It tasted alright, but so oily, I couldn't eat all of it. The meal came with bread, butter and a sprig of purple basil. It's a huge, cavernous restaurant that seems more like an event hall. The decor is interesting. Iranian banquet hall meets Montana black bear lodge? A large screen tv played the news soundlessly. It was a cold, windy day; the space felt homey, cozy. I dined at an off time in the middle of the afternoon when the restaurant was empty. Service was nice but inattentive. They forgot what I asked for and I had to get up to seek someone out to pay the bill.

We ordered catering food for a midsize party. We're pretty happy with the experience from the beginning to the end. The managing lady spent a good time with us describing the typical needs, giving tips, and helping with aspects of the work that were not directly part of the food catering duties (e.g. how to serve tea for the large crowd, or how to use the food warmer).Price was decent and food quality was good. I enjoyed the gheimeh particularly. One point: Try to reach her at an off-peak hour. Makes a lot of difference in amount of attention you will receive.

I had eaten at their 4th street location in 2018 and had a great experience. However, this time was the absolute opposite experience. The stew that I ordered had about 2 pieces of beef in it. The beef had no flavor. My friend ordered chicken and beef kabobs and was ill the next day. The best thing we ate was the warm bread. After ordering our food, no one came back to check on us. We sat there for over hour. We flagged down a lady whom I told we had not been checked on since we received our food over a hour ago.Her response was that they were busy with a big party and were short staffed. No apology. Having bad food is one thing and when you add bad service to it; it equals never returning.
