Sol Taqueria

It's about time! We've been in need of a good Mexican spot on San Pablo Ave but like north of University to reach those of us in North Berkeley and Albany. I'm so happy with this addition to the area. Pluses:- great vibe - good price point & value $ - salsa & tortilla chip bar (!!!) - indoor seating with lots of natural light - spacious patio outdoor seating - Taco Tuesday- several promotions (eg. Student Special, Dinner Special, and 2 for 1 breakfast burritos)Minus:- only meter parking on a busy street I only tried the carne asada tacos but so far no complaints. Looking forward to the caldos this winter. The owner said to expect pozole, cocido, and caldo de pollo as the weather gets chilly.

First time at Sol Taqueria and unfortunately they were still working on the outdoor space, so looking forward to coming back for the patio seating! Until then, we enjoyed the juicy chicken super burrito, flavorful and wallet friendly tacos (they have a great Taco Tuesday special FYI), and chips/salsa bar indoors tapping our feet to the fun music and vibrant wallpaper art. I also dig a salsa bar with a variety. Metered parking is available and so are menus for breakfast and kiddos! Huevos Con Jamon and the Breakfast Burrito look super yummy, and on the lunch/dinner menu the nachos, tortas, and super bowls look equally as delicious for a new local spot for authentic Jalisco-style Mexican cuisine. The chicken, steak, and al pastor are all winners, and the service is stellar. Until next time!

They are offering a 2 for 1 on breakfast burritos from 9-11am so I had to check them out. This deal applies to either a bacon, jamon, or chorizo burrito. I got the chorizo and bacon. Total was $13.78 with access to a sauce bar with other sides like picked jalapeños and carrots. There are also tortilla chips available so I'd say it's worth the deal. I would say the chorizo was better than the bacon, but the bacon had some good chunks of meat in there. It was tightly rolled, decent size, and with the other sides and sauces, it was fantastic. The green sauce is mild, the orange sauce has a little kick and the red sauce is the hottest which I did not try, but since the orange sauce wasn't too spicy, I might try it next time. Service is super friendly and answered all my questions regarding the sauces. The restaurant is clean and very neat. It has cool decorations on the walls. There are about 12-15ish seats inside. This place offers a Taco Tuesday which I plan on trying, but overall, I would go back again just to try other menu items with all the sauces. Go check them out!

Saw this restaurant pop up on tik tok and checked it out on a Saturday for lunch. Not busy and plenty of seating with a beautiful patio for a sunny day. We ordered the molcajete with a side order or rice and beans. Beautiful presentation and amazing taste ( not spicy) but they had plenty of salsa options to make it your own. Authentic flavor with a mix of veggies, steak, nopal, chicken, shrimp, and fish. Huge plus for drink refills of agua fresca and the chips and salsa bar ( complementary)!

3.5 stars. It's one of the better spots in West Berkeley. They have some good options. They offer baby size burritos and 1 item choices. Mexican food can be heavy so to have an option for a smaller portion is nice. Service is good, they're welcoming and made sure tables are clean. I ordered grilled chicken enchiladas and it came with rice, beans, and veggies. Good stuff. I'll be back soon

I love me my tacos! And in this case, the fish tacos, pozole, and molcajete! Wow! Very very flavorful. The salsa bar had fresh chips, four great salsas, limes and goodies. Staff super sweet but the best part is totally authentic and delish food bursting with flavor (and heat if u so desire)!

My husband and I ate here for the first time and we really enjoyed ourselves. I found the food to be very tasty. I especially liked my fish taco. It was cooked so well, very flavorful, not dry not mushy. They had a little salsa/chip bar and was pleasantly surprised with some fresh fruit. They also had a delicious salsa that I couldn't stop eating. Was nice to eat in the back outside too. Portions were also good. Can't really say anything bad except for that I wish they had soup. Service was also good.

tl;dr -- Nice people, quick service, clean location, decent chorizo breakfast burrito at a decent cost.Was browsing Berkeleyside's Nosh and settled on some quick and easy Mexican food from Sol Taqueria. (The location was previously Nuevo Sol, another Mexican restaurant, so maybe new owners?)The website wouldn't let me select chorizo when ordering, so I called in a takeout order for a chorizo breakfast burrito and a small horchata. Was told it would be ready in 5 minutes. I only live a mile and a half away, and the burrito was ready by the time I drove there.The location was clean and I could see a nice patio in the back. The person who took my payment encouraged me to help myself to the salsa bar in the corner.A review from a couple days ago mentioned a small burrito, but mine was a pretty decent size. Not sure if different burritos are different sizes. The complimentary chips weren't the best, but the salsas were nice and the chorizo had decent flavor. Would be fine stopping there again if in the area and wanted some quick and easy Mexican food.

Very good food, parked right in the front. Smoke a joint and accomplished the appetite! FUCK ICE‼VIVA MEXICO

As kid said upon entry "'Fake mexican' chain across the street, but this is 'the real deal'". Legit spot, with nice murals by local artist, the aguas fresca flowing out front, New Year's Mexican programming on tv. Staff was super friendly, food came out fast, and everything got the stamp of approval from our young tween to my Mexicana mother-in-law. I got a tasty fish taco, Suegra and Hubs got pollo asado tacos, and kid's special was a good sized taco with a hefty helping of beans and rice. Plus tasty churro and Jamaica drink with free refill? All good! We even ordered a burrito to-go. The sign on their wall wasn't lying: "Aqui Se Rompen Las Dietas"/ you gonna "break" that diet for real!Definitely heading back next time we are in the area. Want to try that Molcajete we saw on social media, and check out covered back patio in the warmer months.***ETA: For extra parking, try finding a spot in the nearby neighborhood, or lk park by That Chain Mexican spot and walk across.
