Soheila Bakery

I came in for a quick dessert after lunc and was greeted by a pleasant man behind the counter, giving recommendations. I spent $35 on assorted pastries (apple croissant, tiramisu, assorted German cookies) expecting great things... but I was horribly disappointed! I called the shop several times but there was no response... thus this review. ALL the goods were stale. The small, $8 Tiramisu had firm, chewy edges, a sour (spoiled) whip cream center! The apple croissant was not flaky and soft but chewy and dry with an apple center similar to fruit leather. I was told the box of mixed German cookies "Last more than 1 year, since there is no egg or milk in it"... there are no dates (packaging, expiration), and Eggs are in the ingredients!!!

Unique Persian bakery - tea cookies that aren't overly sweet and various cakes. Small bakery with a mom and pop friendly feel to it where things are reasonably priced. There just aren't too many options in Hayward when it comes to great bakeries - and the ones that are here are typical American and so are not too interesting.I tried various tea cookies. They were delicate and melt in your mouth type of thing. There were so many different flavors to choose from you could definitely make a beautiful arrangement for a special occasion. The cake I tried also wasn't overly sweet and I appreciated that. Almost anything you buy these days is over sugared I suppose because most Americans like it that way. The cake had many many layers to it and looked to be very labor intensive. One of my favorite things are cannolis and I saw they had them here. I usually get them at Stellas in the city but I look forward to trying it here. The two closest competitors might be Silva bakery (Portuguese) and Max's Cakes - simply because of the close proximity.

Such a tasty bakery! I've been here before but kept forgetting to write a review of this Hayward gem! Customer service is amazing. If it's your first time they will give you a taste of some of their special treats. My favorite are the raspberry jam cookies. However, this time I wanted to try the Nazook Cookies and cannolis.The nazook cookies taste like an almond croissant. They are soft, buttery, and sweet! The cannolis are fresh and tasty! I definitely recommend all Hayward residents to come and try this bakery. The baked goods are naturally sweetened and made with love and care!

I came across French and Persian bakery on Yelp...initially I thought it was a typo and was French and Parisian but alas, it is Persian which is unique for the area...if you've been to International Markets in Berkeley and along the Peninsula (Aladdin, Mosaic, Rose International) you'll see their products carried there. Walked in and was quickly greeted by one of the owners, Hamid...a very nice gentleman offering samples and explaining each of the various cookies from their German cookies, almond-flour based cookies and popular: Persian Chick Pea Cookie with pistachio (Nan-e Nokhodchi). Definitely an acquired taste but it slowly grows on you with its light, melt-in-your mouth texture....and it's low in sugar and gluten free!Soheila Bakery offers more familiar deserts such as a strawberry cake, tiramisu, macarons, and a chocolate coffee cake. I tried the creamy bread pistachio and macarons and definitely a good try and will visit more for their Persian baked goods and flatbread they offer3.75-4 stars for the baked offerings and extra star for Hamid! Wonderful hospitality, explaining each item (to someone who isn't familiar with Persian cookies/desserts), sharing how long they've been in business (7 years) and valuing their customers! Support this family-run business.Located in a newly opened strip mall near the Hayward Main Library...lot parking or along C Street with a small walk thru the alley by Los Compadres.

The man who worked behind the counter was extremely friendly. He allowed me to try a couple of cookies since I it was my first time visiting the bakery. I bought a package of cookies and a slice of carrot cake. The cookies were good. But the carrot cake was exceptional! It was moist and delicious and the frosting wasn't too sweet. I will be back!

Soheila Bakery is a family owned bakery with an emphasis on French & Persian bakes. they are located across from the Hayward Library, in the back of the same building that houses Falafel Flame. i was greeted with a smile and offered free samples..raisin, tea, various cookies didn't have much flavoring. they were fresh..can buy boxed or by 1's.offerings: cookies, cakes, bread (soon)eats: chickpea cookie, gluten free, vegen: 11.9 oz (12) 30 pieces-has "chickpea, oil, saffron, cardamom, pistachios, powder, sugar"-only cookie tasted that had flavor, probably cardamom & saffron,has melt in mouth quality due to powdery nature of cookie, crumbles easy-was assured it has long shelf life, low calories..lasted over 2 weeks . longer if not eaten...crumbs:-free coffee, self service-street parking available, parking lot has some alloted vacancies-storefront is the last one on the end.

This is a cute, little hole in the wall bakery that had superb pastries at such reasonable prices! The pastries were flaky and fresh. It smelled so good in there when we walked in. I could see them baking fresh pastries in the back. The owner was patient and kind as my kids chose their pastries. I look forward to returning and supporting small businesses!

Service was exceptional. Food was as all delicious: flat bread, variety of cakes, tiramisu was probably the best I've had a well as cookies!

I had the most wonderful experience at soheila bakery! I had the wonderful pleasure I being served by Ahmed (unsure of the correct spelling). He was knowledgeable and patient with me while I ordered! The samples were amazing and I'm so excited to try what I purchased for a family gathering! I will absolutely be coming back to this amazing establishment!

Best baklava I've ever had. All their treats are thoughtfully made with whole and nutritious ingredients, and the owners are always so kind and welcoming. Don't miss this hidden gem!
